Sure, it brings scrutiny. But is it going to bring charges? Is it going to bring prison time?
We've seen time and time again that state and federal law enforcement break laws and violate the rights of people in this country and very little happens. The few cases that aren't immediately squashed by the "qualified immunity" defense either end up with the jury finding in favor of law enforcement and the fewer where those officers are found guilty, there's a significant portion where those officers have those cases overturned in appeals or they get offered pardons.
Hell, there was a recent Bivens case which went on for nearly a decade about federal law enforcement falsifying legal statements to arrest protesters and after nearly 10 years. The result ultimately was the case getting dismissed under "qualified immunity."
Scrutiny isn't even the barest minimum at this point. There has to be actual consequences when state actors break the law and when they violate your rights.

"Brings scrutiny" is much closer to "proves the ICE agents lied in this instance.

That is what we want to see, but will it actually happen?

> Both men are free while they seek legal status. They were ordered released even before the criminal charges were dropped, but ICE took them back into custody for alleged immigration violations before releasing them, again under court order.
Crazy they had to go thru all that and yet the officers who actually committed a more heinous crime than being an illegal immigrant are still on a paid suspension and free to do whatever they want.
A paid suspension what a horrendous ordeal for the officers. /s

Have there been any shootings by ICE agents where they haven't lied about what happened? I can't think of any.
