Wanda Sykes should have hosted The Whose Line Revival

Posted by mikeb31588

I just thought Aisha Tyler was too nice for that show, like it was being hosted by your mother. Wanda Sykes would have been closer to the Drew Carey tone of the show. This bugs me for some reason.

You think Drew wasn't also super nice...? I thought Aisha did a great job and continued the general vibe well.

Drew was nice but he had that sarcastic edge that made the roasting feel natural, Aisha always seemed like she was trying too hard to be mean when the show called for it. Wanda would've nailed that balance between supportive and ruthlessly funny

Aisha wasn't the problem. The show had too many corporate synergy tie ins with people who couldn't do improv well. So they had to give them audience games rather then let actual audience members do them killing a fun part of the show. They should have also had 2 rotating cast  rather then 1. There was just not enough new blood.

I don't think she was a problem. I just think they missed a better opportunity.

She was genuinely really funny in later seasons.  That first season she was a bit nervous and whoever did the sound mixing on her laugh in the first season deserves to be shot (way way too prominent).

I disagree. I thought she did well. But I also find Wanda Sykes horribly obnoxious, so maybe that's part of it.

Too bad Drew Carey is doing the price is right. If the re-re-revive the show, they should have Drew Carey back as host. [15 Times Drew Carey Got Owned On "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1omWTgwtuQ)

The show faltered by continuing to have the same old comedians it's always had. Brady is the exception b/c he's just electric but imagine if they did it like a British panel show and had new people every season? Would've been awesome and a refreshing change of pace. None of that is to take away from Colin or Ryan or Proops or Brad but you get tired of the same old thing after a while.

First run did 220 episodes and the second run did 212 episodes. Colon and Ryan are legends.

They are. I'm sure Colin would love that you called him Colon as well. lol.

I get the impression that Drew Carey is a nice guy. But he has a dark sense of humor and it was funny to watch the other performers make fun of him. It's not fun to make fun of Aisha because she is too nice. Remember when they were playing a game and Drew said, "wayne you're the thief." Wayne "Why do I gotta be the thief?" Drew "If this were NBC you wouldn't even have a job." That's funny humor but not nice
