This can’t be true, my neighbor had a whole display of signs claiming Harris would raise taxes, start wars, and cause gas prices and inflation to rise. Is Harris secretly president? How could democrats do this to Americans?

Clearly it's fake news, or Biden's fault, or paying more for things is patriotic and the word "affordable" is a hoax from Democrats, or it's Obama's fault. Also it's not a war, but we won the war, we are winning the war, and we will win the war in two weeks, but also not a war, and Iran started it 47 years ago and now was the perfectly timed genius strike.
...Like a Republican choose your own lack of personal responsibility salad, because there's no way god king Trump could have done wrong, "it can only good happen" as the gospel says.

It was something later christians made up to persuade more people to convert to christianity. That was how Emperor Constantin was persuaded to convert and declare Christianity the state religion of the Roman empire. He had his own son murdered and was afraid he would have to pay the price in the afterlife. Of course, he realised that it was smartest to wait to convert until he was old and dying, so he could live a whole life of depravity until then.

There is no path to redemption here, you cannot deprogram people who willfully choose to be either straight up f****** evil or maliciously ignorant to the degree they can watch their own kids drown in their own fluids from a completely preventable disease *and still turn their back on actual medicine*. They'll just plug their ears and yell about how "iT waS 9% UnDeR bIDeN" so we aren't allowed to complain. Of course they refuse to comprehend the pandemic was a real thing that happened and high inflation was literally unavoidable. They cannot acknowledge that Biden's policies has nothing of do with the economy in 2022, that the entire world was suffering in those days and most of them had worse economic recoveries than the US.
Whereas Trump's policies have produced near-immediate negative effects on the global economy. And not just Iran: Tariffs, gutting USAID, cancelling every trade deal even the ones trump himself negotiated. Biden really left trump with a golden opportunity to cruise through 4 years of a rising economy and he somehow still managed to invert that graph.
Maga does not think rationally. At best They do not understand the concept of Nuance and do not possess the skills to perform critical analysis on topics like this beyond looking at 2 numbers and saying 1 is bigger. At worse, they are purposefully ignorant to it and actively gaslight to obfuscate the truth in the world and maintain their agendas Because for them the suffering of others is more important than any form of peace and prosperity. Ice like to believe that not all conservitive-aligned people are like this, but the deep maga 100% are. They would gladly burn down this country and everything they despise about it if it means that they personally are winning in comparison to the other people living here.

CPI is a weighted basket the government adjusts when the numbers get politically inconvenient.
That's not economics. That's optics.
1980s methodology puts current inflation at 12-15%. Not 3.2%.
MIT Billion Prices Project consistently tracks 1.5-2x official CPI.
Big Mac 2000: $2.51. Big Mac 2024: $5.29. That's 110% inflation on a single standardized good over 24 years. Official cumulative CPI says 78%.
Shadowstats has tracked the methodology changes since 1980. Every adjustment conveniently lowered the number.
See also: owners equivalent rent - the single biggest CPI component - is a survey of what homeowners think they could rent their house for. Not actual rents. Not actual numbers.
Egg prices do not affect CPI
guestimated rent does.
Maybe someone else needs to learn basic econ?

The idea that we’re at below 4% is bogus. The good and services evaluated change on a regular basis - but when Donny fired the majority of the bureau of labor statistics and replaced them with sycophant clowns, the credibility of the number went off a cliff. Also, “appreciating assets” like real estate, stocks, etc, are not considered inflation when they gain value. So the billions being pumped into corporate welfare that become stock buybacks and such, while deeply inflationary in terms of consumer experience, quality of life, and social mobility, aren’t accounted for in this figure.

77 million said “No, MORE WARS! and higher prices!”
90 million said “Whatever.”
167 million Americans wanted this and/or didn’t care to stop it.

Yup. I hope people realize we need real change to keep another Trump from taking control due to a lack of apathy. The goal should not to be to return to a 2016 or 2024 status quo.

At this point, there's no going back to then, anyway. Too much has been burned and torn apart. Since 2024 I've accepted that America as we grew up with it is basically gone. The only way out of this mess is through and reconstruction.
that said, I don't have a lot of hope I'll actually get to live to see such a thing, even if I live 50 more years.

You mean the ones that didn't bother to vote?
You reap what you sow.

I was thinking more the ones who did vote, voted to keep us out of this c***, and are now powerless to do a damn thing about it....
You lump Americans in all together, that would be like lumping all Europeans together when obviously there are many different parts to Europe...

The ones who voted for it wanted it, don't let them tell you any different. They wanted wars and chaos and even economic disaster just so long as it also harmed people they dislike.
The non-voters and third party crew were just too dumb to realize they needed to cast a useful vote if they didn't want the country torn to shreds.

Sure but… maybe in our comfort we did not take the correct and urgent action. We stayed blind to the threat and insanity of those around us. Maybe there was something that could have been done to avoid this.
Or maybe those of us who voted correctly need to move to one or two regions of this country take all the big weapons with us and lock the f****** door behind us.

You do know that the suffering is going to be quite a bit worse for the rest of the world than it will be for the US.
Like Iran targeting LNG infrastructure is sending Europe into a full blown energy crisis. While the US has enough NG to supply everyone here plus all our exports (US is the number 1 LNG exporter)
They are expecting 3-5 years AFTER the war ends for those facilities to be rebuilt and back online. Europe is so fucked...
