Wasted so much time on Manifest hoping that things will get better.

Man I was looking for some show to binge watch and I really really loved the first episode and the theme but after going through 6 episodes this is an absolute piece of c***. Just a really really badly written show with a whole lot of unnecessary drama and crying. And Grace is such a dumb stupid character man. If I was her husband and realised that she got 500K on my life insurance and blew all of it with “nothing” left over while also having another fuking boyfriend, then I will sure be pissed as hell. I would think how t f did someone blow that much amount of money. Just a stupid stupid show with dumb characters and dumb acting

Take it from someone who was held to watch the whole damn thing: stop. It doesn't get better, it only gets dumber. And the ending is horseshit.

Yah I might have watched it further but I stopped and searched on reddit whether it was worth it and everyone said its not. I will just chatgpt the mystery of the show to get some closure

I enjoyed it. I’m not ashamed lol. It’s not quality television by any means, but it’s fun, engaging, a little weird, kinda spooky but mostly just fun. Kinda like Outer Banks. “Awesomely bad” as we used to say. It’s not for everyone but if you suspend disbelief and just watch it, it can be a good time.

I’m with you, both on general opinion and ending. Is it cheesy? Yeah. But it fits the show. I agree that it was not in anyway prestige television, but it was entertaining. No regrets watching it from me.

I only realized today it got more than 2. I had to recall what the show was - "was that the plane one when they were trying to re-create Lost?" and then OP said "Grace" and "crying" and I knew exactly what they were talking about. I don't remember if I just fell off the show between seasons or I refused to continue watching it, but I'm definitely surprised today that it wasn't canceled at that point.

Oh yeah... I hate watched the final Netflix seasons, just because I'm a completionist. It had a lot of promise, but fell flat every single time.

The writing and acting were a perfect match for each other in the fact that they were both a pile of turds. I felt assaulted by how bad they were. In a world before shows like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, etc... this show would have probably done ok, but great shows really point out how bad drivel like this is.

Oh, I love dumb shows. Sometimes a network will set out to make a good compelling show and they fall far short of that...Manifest is one of those.

I liked the first season-ish... I always enjoy the beginning of those "a bunch of people who had been missing/dead come back" shows, when they're reuniting and seeing how the world has changed and readjusting to society.

*better?* no, not really lol all the ones I can think of (the 4400, Resurrection, The Returned) go completely off the rails sooner or later.

The fundamental problem with shows like the 4400 or Manifest is that they make solving the central mystery the main concept of the show. Here's the thing though - I don't care. I don't need to know why it happened, it's enough for me that it did. I find the people adjusting to this jump through time infinitely more interesting. I remember the best scene of the 4400 is in the first episode, where Mahershala Ali, who lived during segregation, enters a diner, sees all these modern people, interracial couples and he's still waiting for the moment somebody tells him to get out. During all of this, he lights up a cigarette and a couple of people start looking at him negatively and it only takes him a moment to realize it's because of that, and not because of his race (the no smoking sign helps). He puts it out and still sits there waiting for the hammer to drop. Then the series became about superpowers and aliens and all I could think was "you have betrayed a lack of confidence in your core concept."

Lost is probably one of the best TV shows ever made, it is S tier and there are only about 15 or so TV shows that make that list. But this also highlights AI slop, the premise is quite literally nothing like the other shows you mentioned, not even close. Travelers is 100% worth watching also.

I’d also recommend “Flash Forward”. It’s only 1 season long, but it’s 22 episodes. So that’s like 3 seasons long in modern TV shows. It has a great premise and really is worth the watch. Also, Travelers is in my top 10 shows of all time. Just very well done and a great solid story. I fell in love with the David character.

The worst part for me wasn’t the bad story. It was the miserable wife. And the ugly faces she made at the camera. Made it tough to watch.

I was crew on the first season lol. It was so bad but it was like a corporate job where no one could really say that out loud, cause they still knew it would make money since audiences are stupid and eat that shit up. But it was mostly older people working on it who were just coasting with a steady gig and did not care. It's crazy how different production can be, and that the ones on serious networks with proper budgets are often actually the worst jobs with the least creative people. There was zero passion in that building. Soulless even. (I remember them showing me the pilot when we started and I said out loud "I can see the potential (being nice) but I'm glad we're gonna rewrite and reshooting that!" and they were like "no... that's it. That's what will air on tv" and I was just stunned. It was total garbage trying to be a million things at once.)

i think i watched about 3 seasons everyone said it was good it just confirms my suspicions that most peoples opinions are terrible. when i speed run and fast forward stuff i know its the end. i think i managed about 2 or 3 seasons and realized i just didn't care.

The voice over in the first episode that lays out all of the dynamics of the families relationships, it was clear straight away it was shit in my opinion. I watched quite a bit on further but they pretty much immediately give up on the whole "how would people deal with missing five years of their lives and everyone else ages" awesome part of the story, just to focus on mcguffin chasing that is just pointless.
