As a Puerto Rican who comes from a culture of people who constantly sing about their love for their island, who was told his island is a floating pile of garbage by orange man's fans, I don't think Greenland should expect anyone in Trump's administration to apologize.

Wgh555 Apr 9, 2026 +104
I find it unbelievable that Puerto Rico is effectively a colony and everyone just seems cool with it
104
Kewkky Apr 9, 2026 +49
Right? Both in and out of the island, there's people that are okay with its status as a modern-day colony. At this moment in time, PR is the world's oldest colony, not having had any sort of independence or proper self-governing since it was established back in the 1500's. And even when there's downsides to being a colony, they're still okay with the status quo. It's wild. I guess if you wanted to think about it in a more "positive" light (big quotation marks around that word, I'm using it veeeery loosely here), you could see it as a native American reservation, but instead of being forced out and pushed into foreign land, we were allowed to keep our ancestral land.
49
OlderThanMyParents Apr 10, 2026 +6
> you could see it as a native American reservation Hopefully no one ever discovers gold or sliver there. The US hasn't been good to reservations that turn out to have valuable mineral deposits.
6
Kewkky Apr 10, 2026 +5
The Spaniards already took it all when they colonized the island and enslaved the native Taíno population back in the 1500s. The US was a little late, coming in and taking the island in the early 1900s.
5
itszaidbtw Apr 10, 2026 -2
i think being a colony has kept Puerto Rico safe.
-2
Kewkky Apr 10, 2026 +5
Safe from what?
5
itszaidbtw Apr 10, 2026 -4
Dont they get hit by yearly hurricanes? I assume USA helps a lot during those moments.
-4
Kewkky Apr 10, 2026 +7
Not yearly. Believe it or not, Puerto Rico gets hit less than both Florida and Texas individually get hit. It even gets hit less than Cuba and the Dominican Republic. We're not exactly "safe", but we're small enough that we mostly only get outer bands of storms moving by. That being said, yes the US helps, but most of the reconstruction is done by Puerto Rico itself. Hell we never even received all of the money Congress had approved for us for Maria's reconstruction and a lot of people in FEMA were arrested and convicted of bribery and corruption for pocketing lots of it. So sure we're "better off" because we get some money, but we'd probably be able to afford it ourselves if we weren't forced into a bad economic situation from so many controlling acts of Congress. It's to the point where we can't generate enough income to offset our spending or debt.
7
Prestigious_Task7175 Apr 9, 2026 +18
Well, in their defense Puerto Ricans used to vote for it to remain like this, only in recent decades has the vote started to shift into a desire to become a real state, thing is of course the US government doesn't really want that because of many reasons (it would most likely be a blue state, giving the dems an advantage for example), so they just drag their feet.
18
Own_Round_7600 Apr 9, 2026 +21
I dont want an apology, i want real and lasting consequences.
21
glitch-possum Apr 10, 2026 +2
I want horrible things to happen to powerful people
2
Easik Apr 9, 2026 +377
Of course they aren't just a piece of ice. They have critical minerals that orange man desperately needs to secure so he can wage his next "conquest".
377
Wonderful-Pause1048 Apr 9, 2026 +94
Extracting these rare earth elements would be extremely costly and it would last too long to get them and T morelikely wouldn't live to see it,
94
Successful-Purple-54 Apr 9, 2026 +64
It’s just being able to “say” he got them. That’s all that matters to him. The long term effects of how he’d gotten them, that the rest of us have to deal with, will be the problem inherited. And not a f*** given by him or his yes cunts.
64
Sweet-Competition-15 Apr 9, 2026 +8
Are you seriously expecting rational and logical reasoning from dementia donnie?
8
SerGT3 Apr 9, 2026 +27
Doesn't matter if *he* will. The American military complex requires funding for future terroristic endeavours.
27
minyhumancalc Apr 9, 2026 +3
Same logic with Venezuela; that didnt deter the orange
3
tigersharkwushen_ Apr 10, 2026 +2
The US has plenty of minerals of its own, but they can't be mined due to environmental laws. If Greenland becomes part of the US, then their minerals can't be mined either due to the same environment laws.
2
GrimHoly Apr 9, 2026
Alaska was mocked as “sewards icebox” when it was acquired, given time the minerals in Greenland may become more and more accessible with technology/ climate
0
Donc-qui-et-Quand64 Apr 9, 2026 +3
Alaska is nothing like Greenland though. Just because they're the same latitude. You might as well compare Milwaukee with Marseille.
3
GrimHoly Apr 9, 2026 +2
It is an analogy, when Alaska was purchased they couldn’t access the resources there and had no idea how much was under the ground. Now it’s one of the most resource rich states we have in terms of just raw resources. I was simply saying in the same way greenlands resources would become available the more we advance and the warmer the climate gets. Not saying it makes taking it justified either obv but it could be a reason he’s looking so hard into it
2
Donc-qui-et-Quand64 Apr 9, 2026 +2
If Greenland's ice sheets were to melt that alone would raise sea levels by 23 feet. If it were to become economical to start mining under miles of ice then it would be because everything else is depleted and the world is fucked. Its not like people haven't set mines up in Greenland (near the ice free coasts), they just almost all fail because they can't make enough money. Alaska gets warm water currents coming all the way up from Mexico that allow it to have huge forests full of wildlife. You might as well he talking about how can we start mining Antarctica. Alaska is tropical compared to greenland.
2
Positronic_Matrix Apr 10, 2026 +1
It’s not an analogy it’s an analogue.
1
ThePlanck Apr 9, 2026 -4
Its way too costly now, but once he nukes China and cuts the world off from their supply, the price increase will make it viable
-4
Facts_pls Apr 9, 2026 +13
You think US can nuke China and not be annihilated? Cool. Good to see where we at with common sense
13
aldur1 Apr 9, 2026 +32
That's way too generous. Greenland, Canada, Cuba, Venezuela are just monuments for his grotesque ego. No different than his Trump towers.
32
dafeiviizohyaeraaqua Apr 9, 2026 +3
Even people who rightly hate this monster sanewash him.
3
viktorsvedin Apr 9, 2026 +8
Yeah, I'm sure Trump knows much about those critical minerals, like for example the famed Di-Li-Thi-Um, Kryptonite and Maidupium.
8
MercantileReptile Apr 9, 2026 +3
The Unobtanium alone will make America great again.
3

Greenland doesn't want Trump to grab their land by the... ice?

He makes me sick to my stomach!
2
subparcarr Apr 9, 2026 +2
That might be the long term goal, but the way things are going I think he wants to isolate Canada and cut it off from all other allies.
2
valeyard89 Apr 10, 2026 +1
Trump meant 'piece of ass'
1
iCowboy Apr 9, 2026 +80
'Poorly managed piece of ice' that somehow gives its citizens universal healthcare and affordable education.
80
greyl Apr 9, 2026 +26
Imagine calling another country poorly managed when your own is in the middle of yet another shutdown.
26
Koala_eiO Apr 9, 2026 +6
And where the average adult weight is 100 kg.
6
Thagyr Apr 10, 2026 +4
Trump should be the last person on Earth to say 'poorly managed' given his history of management anyway.

17
WetFinsFine Apr 9, 2026 +21
It's all projection and dog-whistling: "*poorly managed piece of ice*" is psyop speak for "*well defended land containing many tonnes of critical, valuable, rare earth minerals and mining potential*" tell his orange ass to go fck itself
21
mylawn03 Apr 9, 2026 +8
I wish people would just ignore his tweets. It would solve a lot of problems.
8
Ok_Pause_7779 Apr 9, 2026 +8
Genuinely what on earth is Trump after Does he intend to invade Greenland and take over
8
viktorsvedin Apr 9, 2026 +9
It's obvious. To sow dessent and to weaken NATO and the EU while strengthening Russia and the new axis of evil.
9
Constant_Section1491 Apr 9, 2026 +9
His Iran invasion isn't going well so need a quick distraction back to Greenland.

Lucky-Elk-1234 Apr 9, 2026 +16
Chaos and the dissolution of NATO
16
richarm87 Apr 9, 2026 +6
He considers Venezuela as a win (after all he's getting money) But Iran is clearly a loss. Tries to cut bait and tell his clan it is a win He's looking for an easy win again... we all thought Cuba by Trumps actions against them (but I'm guessing daddy Putin said no) So he's back to Greenland (after putin told him nato is a paper tiger - he literally said putin told him this) He just want to have expansion so his name is in the record books saying he expanded USA. And his dementia riddled brain feels he would be loved if he did

Orange man needs what, in his mind, will be an easy victory, after the Iranian fiasco. It’s either Greenland or Cuba.
3
h3rpad3rp Apr 9, 2026 +3
We're back on f****** Greenland again?
3
foul_ol_ron Apr 10, 2026 +1
He's  bored of Iran- they wouldn't let him win.
1
steve_ample Apr 9, 2026 +6
That's right. They are a rare minerals-free protectorate of Denmark, the place of Wegovy and Ozempic, which they are always happy to continue supplying Americans with.
6
Specific_Frame8537 Apr 9, 2026 +5
We've gotten the fat Americans hooked, so I think it's only time we cease the shipments. Lets see how they deal with the withdrawals.
5
GoodIdea321 Apr 9, 2026 +4
Something like 90% of Americans are against anything hostile with Greenland and Denmark. Trump is insane.
4
Specific_Frame8537 Apr 9, 2026 +7
That's nice.
7
GoodIdea321 Apr 9, 2026 +1
It's not nice here, it's like the country is set on fire almost every day by Trump and when someone else puts it out he says he solved it.
1
Specific-Month2206 Apr 9, 2026
I'd rather them stop so that compounding companies get an exemption due to the shortage and we can start getting it for a fraction of the price again.

Meanwhile the Us has a literal cabal of p3d0s running the country.

I would tell the US that this piece of ice wants your POS Space Base gone off of it.
6

For fucks saké, f*** Trump. He is a rambling old fool, unimportant, senile and soon gone.
2
CalmBuddy69 Apr 9, 2026 +2
Of course Greenland is not some piece of ice. Iceland is!
2
Ambitious_Address667 Apr 9, 2026 +2
I always wonder if when trump says this shit  if he genuinely doesnt care, or if he just is so dumb he doesnt know. Like if he did know he would still say it because hes a d***. Its just disrespectful as hell either way I guess

1
GenJohnnyRico Apr 9, 2026 +1
If there are so much minerals worth trillions just waiting be mined, why isn't Denmark/Greenland already mining them and making money?
1
therealmaz Apr 9, 2026 +3
Denmark does not mine Greenland's resources primarily due to the island's harsh Arctic climate and challenging geography, which make mining operations extremely difficult and costly. Additionally, most mining efforts have not progressed beyond the exploratory stage, and Greenland's government has expressed a desire to maintain control over its resources.

I so appreciate these densely informative gems that somehow surface above the noise. Thoughtful question, well-considered answer.

No, you're a piece of ice covering some great oil, rare earths, diamonds and other goodies. To the oligarch robo-puppet at least.
