And it’s what Putin always does because he is that young bullied kid who became a bully. Finland joins NATO? ”It’s their decision to make, although we will need to change out border security accordingly.” (paraphrased) - as if he hadn’t been threatening and using covert means and every dirty trick to try to stop this for 25 years. ”Taking Kyiv was never a goal of the Special Military Operation” - could’ve fooled me with that 30 mile long convoy of military vehicles. Obviously, sending prisoners to attack on golf carts to be killed by drones was thr plan all along. There are countless examples, yet US journos keep lazily promoting the Kremlin’s propaganda image; ”Putin’s a gambler. Putin never backs down.” - No, Putin is a risk-averse guy who does his best to dissociate himself from any decision that might prove unpopular, and who frequently backs down and walks away pretending it never mattered to him. 4 years into the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and he still refuses to state any clear goals out of fear of not achieving them.

For correct usage, it should be written ++good The entire point of newspeak is to reduce the amount of words a person can use, as a way to limit their ability to express themselves. "It ++ungood use oldspeak" It is really bad to use the old way of speaking/writing. "I unbellyfeel you ++ungood ingsoc" I have a bad feeling that you hate The Party. "++good ingsoc" I love the party with all my heart. The logical endpoint of newspeak was to reduce the proles and party members need for words down to... perhaps 15 or so individual words, as means of keeping ideoligical purity.

Friendly reminder that Orbán began his carreer 16 years ago with *exactly* the same promises Magyar is now making. Until he actually follows through, there’s no real reason to celebrate.
19
Sweet_Concept2211 5 days ago +19
There's plenty of reason to hope. Just the fact that Hungarians were able to come together to peacefully oust their would-be dictator is a cause for celebration. But it is foolish to treat any politician like a hero without any further action to back it up than becoming the top dog.
19

There's a great section in the article about why authoritarian regimes seem to ally together: >\[Alexander Baunov, a political analyst at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace\] argued that Orbán’s ousting would reinforce a long-held view among more hawkish elites that betting on Kremlin-friendly leaders in Europe – where democratic systems can still produce sudden changes of government – is a risky strategy. >“In Moscow, the takeaway is that only truly authoritarian systems are reliable partners, and hopes that the west might one day resemble Russia are illusory,” Baunov said. >That lesson, Baunov argued, extended well beyond Hungary. “It also serves as a reminder not to place too many bets on figures like Donald Trump. He may disappear as suddenly as he emerged,” he added.

So the Kremlin says Orban and Putin were never friends. Trump talks about paper tigers, Putin is made of tissue paper just like Trump. People like that don't have friends. They have idiots that as long they're useful, they're tolerated. Then they're thrown under the bus, or pushed out a convient window. A play right out of the dictator's playback. Now, if they can get Putin out of Ukraine with Hungary's help. That should put the fear in Putin.
