“Once the men were on the patrol boat, the US personnel boarded the fishing boat and stole the crew’s food and the beer, Palacios said.” Heg’s turned to piracy to keep his buzz going.

We should take a step back and acknowledge that the navy seamen are complicit in killing/stealing from non combatants. The gov has all the data of what happened. Communications, navigation, expended munitions. They're fucked.

CoffeeHead112 1 day ago +69
Liberal here. The left was complicit. Look at Biden term, there was no accountability for the people who pissed all over the constitution trumps first term. No protection against what we all saw coming a second time. That wasn't just the president, that was damned near the entire democratic party. It goes beyond the past 10 years. This couldn't have happened without the democrats playing ball with the Republicans time and time again when it was shown how evil the Republicans were since 2001.
69
SmallRocks 1 day ago +23
I don’t disagree with your statement as a whole but the J6 investigation was the largest federal criminal investigation in US history that resulted in many many perpetrators getting jail time. Now, Merrick Garland on prosecuting trump and his allies… yeah f*** that guy. And Biden trying to do things quietly and without fanfare… he should have done more.

We need to stop thinking left and right. You are right, people on the left did fail to act. But, it is because they were profitting just fine. This is about rich people vs poor people. Not right vs left. The rich left couldn't care if the poor left suffer, at least as long as they can appear to care...

I have read no hard evidence to back up the belief, but I agree, it is about rich vs. poor. Politicians world wide are prone to corruption. Wealth and greed poison the hearts and minds of people.

> The left was complicit The *Democrats* were complicit, not the left. Most of the Democrats are center-right, and the few who are center-left do try to take a stand but get steamrolled by the rest of the party.
28
CoffeeHead112 23 hr ago -6
Youre arguing semantics at this point. Left and democrats have become synonymous the past few elections cycles.
-6
FifteenthPen 22 hr ago +10

Democrats are neoliberal. In no other country would they be considered "left", it is completely relative and unhelpful in understanding their platform. Ever since Carter it has been a complete departure from the Great Society and New Dealism. Sander's Social Democratic platform is practically fringe. Republicans have waltzed into illiberalism and outright fascism, while democrats have settled into being our generations Reagenites.
14
zenlume 1 day ago -5
Republicans moving further to the right, doesn't mean Democrats have as well. That's absurd. You're honestly going to sit there and claim that Biden's term was more to the right than Obama? That's literally just a blatant lie, he was way more progressive, his whole administration was filled with Elizabeth Warren's people and she had a big influence on his term.
-5
Sonnescheint 22 hr ago +8
I encourage you to look up the Overton Window. The Democrats of today are the Republicans from 20 years ago.
8
BlueHarpBlue 1 day ago +10
Biden is every bit the neoliberal Obama, and Clinton are. Yes, in the wake of COVID we saw a boost in social spending, but this was temporary and wholly for the salvation of the capitalist system. What was not temporary was the Trump tax cuts. At the end of the day Biden's ideology isn't born in degrees of austerity. He believes that free trade, and American dominated imperialism create enough wealth to uplift the general population as needed. But push him on taxing the rich and pretty soon the cocktail napkins come out and economists start talking about the "laffer curve".
10
Wizard_with_a_Pipe 1 day ago +31
They also don't do enough when the Republicans don't control the house, the senate, and the presidency. I know there's not much they can do now ( though the few times they actually had leverage they managed to cave without getting anything whatsoever). What makes people upset at the Democrats is that when they do get in power they are too afraid to do anything useful. The last thing we need when this administration is a democrat with a "business as usual" mentality. There's going to be a HUGE mess to clean up after this administration and I am personally worried that they are going to be too timid to get the things done that will need to be done, especially since they realistically will only have two years to fix it before the next midterms. Democrats always want to appear bipartisan when the Republicans want nothing to do with bipartisanship.

>"What makes people upset at the Democrats is that when they do get in power they are too afraid to do anything useful." The last time the Democrats even had the ability to pass legislation was less than 1 year in 2008.
36
I_Push_Buttonz 1 day ago +1
> What makes people upset at the Democrats is that when they do get in power they are too afraid to do anything useful. Because they don't want tit for tat political prosecutions and jailing of political opposition every election like what happens in some countries. People here are complaining about Trump extrajudicially killing 178 people via drone strikes. Ok, well Biden also extrajudicially killed hundreds of people via drone strikes, Obama similarly killed thousands, Bush killed at least thousands, probably tens of thousands; the only difference between their strikes and Trumps' are the locations they occurred. So Democrats aren't going to legally pursue Trump for this because then Republicans would do the same thing in turn. And none of them want to limit the US' ability to conduct strikes like this, which would be the result if doing them lead to criminal prosecution.
1
Konukaame 1 day ago +8
Talk about it. Organize protests.  Rally the public in opposition. Demand and promise accountability, and lay out plans to do so, should they regain power. Because the "there's nothing that anyone can do until the election" is a strategy for apathy, disengagement, and losing.

What is the Democrats plan to hold this administration accountable? What is the Democrats plan to rebuild alliances? What is the Democrats plan to prosecute the Epstein class? What is the Democrats plan to stop Israel’s multiple ethnic cleansings? The fact that you can’t find documented answers to that in 5 min of googling is proof that they should be doing so much more. I don’t mean individual members I meant the party writ large. Positions of power are not just about having the votes. Dems had a super majority in the senate and control of the house and presidency in 2009 and couldn’t pass single-payer.

https://www.progressivepolicy.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/PPI_Five-Ideas-National-Security.pdf here's one about strengthening NATO from early 2025 from a Democratic think tank. Dozens of elected officials have called for ceasing military aid as a start to pressuring Israel. On prosecuting anyone, be it from the administration, the Epstein files, or both, it would be the height of stupidity and prosecutorial malpractice to discuss their plans in public. Why would you want to sabotage a future prosecution against a corrupt cabinet official?
2
ocw5000 19 hr ago
LOL ok bud you’re right it might be a HIPAA violation to say “we will investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law the sexual predators mentioned in the Epstein documents, starting with President Trump.” Can’t show your cards! And that link is a think tank my guy. We’re talking about The Democrats, ie the political party. We’re done here
0
Junkyard_Pope 19 hr ago +1
HIPAA? Are you a bot? Multiple elected officials and those running for office have called for anyone who committed crimes in office to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, you are just too bad at cursory searches to find them. Also, what do you think "The Denocrats" are? Are you looking for an official party platform about these things which famously only comes about every 4 years? Do you think there is a standing shadow council like in a parliamentary system? Is there an official spokesperson of The Democrats? Because the Democrats is made up of all party members, elected officials and aligned outside groups. You are an unserious or non existant person not worthy of the 4 minutes I've spent proving you are wrong.

What they aren't doing enough of is ACTUALLY representing the people. The Left could have been the party labor rights, anti-war stances, strong public services, and a strong social safety net. They... aren't that.

Republicans cause damage and control narratives even when they aren't in control, but for some reason people like to baby the dems like they are helpless. No, they are complicit in a lot of the same things. Take Iran for example, many of them don't disagree with bombing Iran, they just dont like how Trump went about doing it.

Recent_Tap_9467 1 day ago +16
The fact you continue resorting to whataboutism ("b-but muh China and Russia bad doe111!!") exposes you as a coward with nothing useful to contribute.  Whether China or Russia does the same thing or worse is not, in any shape or form, an excuse for the US to do the same. It sure sounds like you *think* the US should do the same but are too much of a craven to actually admit it proud and loud.
16
AlmostHeisman 1 day ago -2
Nah don't excuse us at all, just keep the same energy which you all never do. The US been overwhelmingly positive to the world for 80 years, the minute you guys dont get what you want out of us its endless complaining. Meanwhile countries that been wildly immoral during the same span are the ones you are all cozying up to in lieu of the US, so their endless problems get swept under the rug and the US gets dealt with the "what have you done for me lately" Very tired of it all. When everyone switches up just make sure you stay there

Oh shut the hell up. People like you are the problem and no longer worth listening to especially since you are too dumb to see that pretty much everyone hates Russia and has been decrying them for years. You are ok with all of this, don't pretend you aren't, the whataboutism proves it.

And, it looks to us like you support everything he does, because we hate everything he does, on its merits. Do you really think that's going to make American great? BTW, there are only about TEN MtF transexuals playing against about 500,000 girls and women in US school sports. One out of every 50,000 girls might lose to a transexual. That's the biggest reason most liberals don't much care about that issue. If affects next to nobody. As for the rest of the LGBTQN+ world, we mostly think it's not our business, what other people do in bed with consenting adults. We think our personal preferences shouldn't affect the freedom of other people. I guess that's some kind of communism.

Terrorism, don’t care if they were just following orders everyone who participated in this illegal act should be in jail. If they thought they were narcotics trafficking, how do you not realize what you’re being told to do is wrong when you are literally wiping footage? Then you sink their boat and strand them on some random spot on shore? Where were the drugs? If they were actually smuggling drugs, they would have been detained.

JFC. The US learned about "human safari" from the Russians and decided they wanted in on the action?

One of my brother in laws was a fishermen in Grenada.  He quit because of the drones he was seeing fly over head and the fear the US would blow him out of the water and say he was a drug dealer.
