I think this song is great. It sounds like a real band, rather than Rivers trying to make his 120931209380 song about being "uncool" - I think Weezer has just been all over the place over the past 2 decades and they don't really have a core fanbase who they can please anymore.

It's very good; their drummer Patrick Wilson wrote it, so maybe there are other songs on the album about being "uncool" lol

Weezer is one of those bands where I will still check out every album that comes out to see if they’re good again. Outside of Blue and Pinkerton, I think Everything Will Be Alright and the White Album are genuinely great, and that’s enough for me to think that they might decide to put out another good one eventually.

At least they usually have one or two solid singles even on the bad albums but yeah their discography is all over the place.

eddiewachowski Apr 1, 2026 +2
Their greatest hits could be a solid double album. Each album since Green and Maladroit however is a little soft outside of EWBAITE and White.

I unironically enjoy Red immensely

I completely agree.

Even Raditude and Pacific Daydream had If You’re Wondering If I Want You To and Mexican Fender. Imo, the only album of theirs without a single redeeming song is Hurley imo.

Cuomo's artistic m/o has always been to crank out quantity and let the quality flesh itself out. Saw them live a few years ago they went 2.5 hours with nothing but hits. Even their most 'meh' records land a track or two. I'd argue Maladriot and Red are solid albums, too.

100%.

djackieunchaned Apr 1, 2026 +1
The red album has some good ones on there

Huh... they're definitely trying to channel and earlier vibe, both in that guitar tone and the chord progression during the prechorus. But the vocals and especially the lyrics in the verses are pretty miserable. Overall better than expected but still pretty rough, still better than that awful Black album with Zombie Bastards.

anuncommontruth Apr 1, 2026 +12
I don't hate it, but I'll never listen to it of my own volition again.

bonusnoise Apr 1, 2026 +8
It’s… actually not as bad as I was expecting? Not great by any means, but I didn’t hate it.

I think it’s weird when an established artist changes their name so late in the game. Stick to Kenny Beats, that’s how people know him lol.

WoohooNewBuilding Apr 1, 2026 +2
The time to become Kenneth Blume professionally would've been after his COVID boom. Like if he had switched season 3 of the cave to Kenneth Blume's The Cave it would have been fine.
2
rohdawg Apr 1, 2026 +1
I mean, admittedly he’s kind of shifted away from hip hop, so I guess it makes some sense.
1
BadDecisionPolice Apr 1, 2026 +2
The drummer wrote that one.

thespaceageisnow Apr 1, 2026 +2
Honestly pretty decent new song from them.

MatthewMonster Apr 1, 2026 +3
they still get a pass from me because the first two albums are perfect but it was diminishing returns.... then they pit something called Raditude out in 2008....and I dipped....I still check in when they release something...but its been almost 20 years and 10 albums and its all been meh Huge Bummer this song is fine, butI wish they still wrote catchy hooks

Everything Will be Alright in the End and White album are both really good albums.

Ok Human joins that list for me too and others have good tracks too.

Personally I like Van Weezer but I get why others wouldn’t

I love Van Weezer:(

Man, what happened to this band?
3
junger128 Apr 1, 2026 +11
Matt Sharp left the band
11
Blackfyre567 Apr 1, 2026 +3
Weezer didn’t even start until Scott Shriner got there
3
fuckitweredoingitliv Apr 1, 2026 +2
Its gonna be like that, huh??
2
FunDmental Apr 1, 2026 +1
Matt Sharp was in Weezer for six of the band's thirty-four years.

And the only good albums.
5
amuscularbaby Apr 1, 2026 +3
Will never understand how someone could like blue/pinkerton and not also think everything will be alright in the end and white aren’t also good
3
ghostjournals Apr 1, 2026 +2
They made a whole SNL skit about this
2
Turbografx-17 Apr 1, 2026 +2
I mean, there are good songs on both of those albums, but *every song* on blue is incredible, and Pinkerton is pretty close behind. It's hard to describe, but it's like the early "magic" or specialness they had didn't carry over from those first two albums. I freely admit it could just be that blue/Pinkerton happened at a time in my life (high school/early college) that made them hit just right.
2
amuscularbaby Apr 1, 2026 +2
I think we just have different definitions of “good” albums then. Blue and Pinkerton are classics. Maladroit, EWBAITE, and White are good - not classics - but still good, solid records.
2
FunDmental Apr 1, 2026 +1
One of the truest anecdotes I've ever heard is that your favorite Weezer album is the one you discovered first (often in high school). My first was Green and it's still my favorite. I do think Blue and Pinkerton are exceptional and standouts in their discography, but I think sometimes good songs start to feel great when they've been with you for a long time. As this other Listnookor is saying, I think EWBAITE and White are just about as good as either, but they don't have the same impact on their careers or on the music industry at large. And they don't have the same nostalgia around them.
1
FunDmental Apr 1, 2026 +1
This is how I feel about them too. I was so, so thrilled when they started releasing singles for EWBAITE. Like, "they're back!" I like White more of the two, but man, I will probably never be as excited for a Weezer record as I was for that one.

And I think it's silly that we're still talking about it like it happened yesterday. If you don't like Weezer, it's because you don't like the four guys who are in the band. Not because Matt Sharp left 28 years ago.
1
ValleyFloydJam Apr 1, 2026 +2
What do you mean?
2
inkyblinkypinkysue Apr 1, 2026 +1
I guess I just don't like them anymore and it bums me out. The Blue Album and Pinkerton are two of my favorite albums of all time. Green is OK, Maladroit is very good and then they released Make Believe (terrible) and except for Everything Will Be Alright In The End and White it's been mostly downhill from there. I like parts of some other albums but most of their output has been almost unlistenable to me. It just all sounds the same and the lyrics are unbelievably bad. I always give the new album a chance but I almost never revisit it. It's OK - people out grow bands and move on to other stuff but based on those first 4 albums I thought they would be an all timer for me and it's not even close.

That was awesome! Insanely good production especially on the guitars. Really excited to hear the full album.

Starts off meh, gets a little better, then just kinda trails off like my grandpa telling one of his stories.

It’s weird that this shitty band is allowed to have the same name as the band that put out The Blue Album and Pinkerton and then stopped making music.

FunDmental Apr 1, 2026 +6
This is actually the easiest way to signal to people that you're a bitter dude in your 40's.
6
Calm_Canary Apr 1, 2026 +1
Hell yea dude you called my number on that one
1
FunDmental Apr 1, 2026 +2
I have my moments.
2
BuddyLegsBailey Apr 1, 2026 +14
It's weird that people can make these statements without listening to any of their other albums
14
Calm_Canary Apr 1, 2026 +1
I mean, obviously I’m being glib. There were certainly good worthwhile moments on subsequent albums but like, I think you’d agree that those moments have become progressively more rare and less good.
1
BuddyLegsBailey Apr 1, 2026 +3
The Red album and Maladroit are excellent, as is EWBAITE. White is decent, as is Green.
3
thebruce Apr 1, 2026 +3
I mean, they're great. I practically wore out my Maladroit CD. But, they still don't been come close to holding a candle to Blue or Pinkerton. Rivers became afraid to bare his soul, and all of their songs have always felt at arms-reach from human emotion since then. The musicianship is great, Rivers' knack for a catchy melody hasn't gone anywhere, but I'll forever miss songs like Only in Dreams, or even Butterfly.
3
amuscularbaby Apr 1, 2026 +1
The trajectory post-Pinkerton was all over the place lmao, not some sort of slow decline. Their worst record was released nearly twenty years ago and arguably their best record since Pinkerton was ten years ago. They haven’t reached the heights of their 90s albums but they’re still very much capable of making a good album front to back, it’s just seemingly a coin flip if a new release will be good or bad.

They haven't made a good album since Maladroit imo.

I downvoted you because they always sucked.

Turbografx-17 Apr 1, 2026 +1
That's cool. I thought Pinkerton was good and the blue album was f****** fantastic.
1
frankjimmylarrydavid Apr 1, 2026 +1
Too each their own. I owned the blue album back when you had to buy albums to hear one song.  But i have never been compelled to return.  I should have added, in my opinion of course.
1
Turbografx-17 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Yeah, I was in high school when the blue album came out and had it on CD. Really dug it. When Pinkerton came out I bought the CD and thought it was even better than the blue album (partially because of the state of mind I was in at the time), but over time I came to appreciate blue more and more. It's really kind of a masterpiece to my ears.

It’s 2026, can we stop collectively pretending Weezer was ever good?

It's 2026 can we stop pretending that they aren't pretty good.
6
FunDmental Apr 1, 2026 +3
It's 2026, which means that people like you have been complaining about Weezer for three full decades. Don't you have something else to do?
