‘We’re fighting wars. We can’t take care of day care’: Trump’s ill-timed rant | CNN Politics
President Donald Trump’s comments about daycare in a closed-door Easter lunch underscore why he has utterly failed to sell the Iran war to the American people.

More attacks on programs that everyday Americans rely on just for their grift. F*** everyone who voted for this piece of shit.

I have cut off every family member that still supports this f****** administration. I am related to you, but I am not required to like and support you.

Trump has handed Democrats a magic wand for 2026 and beyond. Democrats are now free to be as ambitious as they want in their expansion of social programs. All they have to say whenever they’re asked how they’re going to pay for it is “we won’t do wars and we’ll undo Trump’s fuckups, so now we can do universal care: universal childcare, eldercare, and healthcare. Economists say the numbers work” and any journalist or politician asking questions after that point you can dismiss as a hack who should go learn Econ 101. Of course, Dems have to mean it too and prove it to Americans. Progressives are off to a good start with their anti-AIPAC stance. They’re now completely vindicated on focusing on AIPAC because Trump has directly connected the dots from funding Israel’s genocide to domestic healthcare funding. But don’t stop at universal care. Reconstruction 2029 should cover universal care, universal housing, and universal income. Liberate the working classes from wage slavery as defined by Lincoln’s Republican party.

Trump handed Democrats a magic wand in 2020/21 too.

Military budget: $1T (+ proposed $200B supplemental) -> $600B Imagine what we can do with that saved $600B. Seems we're getting universal child care and Medicare/Medicaid funding.

Again, you are widely underestimating segment of the electorate to whom making sure others suffers is a necessity to their well being.

No, we just need to turn out more of our own base consistently. We don’t need a majority of Americans even.

Man, that really would be nice, huh? But what if instead, Democrats leaned right to appeal to the center? They could run on a platform of "we aren't as bad a trump!" And not much else, while refusing to say that they're going to end the war! (Mostly because most of the DNC are fully in support of it, they're just mad Trump didn't follow proper channels.) Wouldn't this be the perfect time to run a "safe" candidate in their late 70's/early 80's, with a really spotty voting record? We could have them campaign with the Quayles and talk about how strong and ferocious our military is! They could talk about how immigration *is* a massive problem and how it's important to keep ICE well funded! Then the DNC would get *WAY* more money from their billionaire donors! Doesn't that sound so much better and a surefire way to win the election than all that pie-in-the-sky nonsense you just said about "being able to afford to live" and "spending more money to help people than hurt people" and whatever other children's show silliness you were talking about?

The amount of money the US spends on Israeli foreign aid is barely a drop in the bucket when compared to healthcare spending.

Yes, which Trump doesn’t know because he doesn’t know anything, which is why he said that

So how exactly does leaning into something that Trump made up and pretending it’s true vindicating anything?

Because the problem was always about political will, not the actual economics. Pretty much every left of center policy has a positive economic benefit relative to the right’s proposals. The political will problem was the establishment screaming that we can’t afford nice things. Now Trump has explicitly conceded that American healthcare is less of a priority for him an Republicans than Israel’s wars, Democrats have a chance to own the entire space of being the only ones focused on a domestic agenda.

This m*********** doesn't know which way is up, let alone how to take care of "day care". Ask his grifting offspring how they are making money off this f****** military "excursion"?!?

In the immortal words of George Carlin: "If you are pre-born, you are fine. If you are born you are fucked!" "Conservatives want life babies so they can grow up to become dead soldiers".

In between being babies and soldiers, they want to keep you slightly malnourished, uneducated and without good healthcare. Then the military can dangle all those things in front of you to entice you to join. Edit - Forgot to mention, Carlin is my all-time favorite. The GOAT, no question.

He accidentally told the truth. Proof that he doesn't need voters anymore. Imagine what he'd be saying if he was up for re-election next week: "We're going to fund day care! We're going to protect Medicare! We're going to end the War in Iran ... on DAY ONE!! And tens of millions of American idiots would believe him again!

its like he doesnt even want the GOP to win the mid terms. unless he knows something we dont?

What is there to not know? He's been pretty blatant in his attempts to disenfranchise chunks of the population and attempt to rig elections. He's assuming that it'll work this time.

If the federal government is unable to do more than one thing at a time, then it is failing in its mission.
