Rachel Zegler was announced as Snow White in June 2021, with Steven Spielberg's West Side Story coming out that December, which she was cast in 2019 for, and DC Fandome 2020 had casting announcements for the Shazam movie in their 2020 Fandome.
Obviously these are very different projects, but they were all high profile, and it's impressive for an actor to have so many projects lined up before their debut.
Who else had a great career before their debut? Chase Infiniti prompted this post because I saw the trailer for her new show the Testaments, and I figured it was in production before One Battle After Another came out, but on IMDB I saw she was in Presumed Innocent (2024) so I don't think she counts.
So basically who had the most impressive hypothetical career?
Idk if this counts but Hailee Steinfeld got an Oscar nom for True Grit at like 14 and then just kept stacking roles. Pretty wild start before she was even really "established."

oh my god hailee steinfeld was absolutely insane with that trajectory, getting an oscar nom that young is basically like hitting the l****** but then actually knowing how to invest the money properly
i remember being so jealous watching her at award shows when i was in college thinking like damn this girl is younger than me and already more successful than i'll ever be lol. but she really did capitalize on it perfectly - pitch perfect, bumblebee, then getting into the marvel stuff with hawkeye. most child actors either peak early or disappear completely but she managed to transition into adult roles seamlessly
kinda makes me think about how much pressure that must be though, like imagine having to live up to an oscar nomination for the rest of your career when you're barely old enough to drive. wild that she pulled it off

Saoirse Ronan had a similar start, Oscar nom in early teens and been quality since, for nearly 20 years.

Hanna is one of my favorite movies ever. Such a great soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers as well.

Besides the nomination, her performance also matched the work from the likes of Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and Barry Pepper. That’s a career that came swinging out the gate!

it's not an answer itself, but it's not a secret that most of such 'shooting stars' come either from other industries or are children of somebody important. their parents may not be a-lister celebs but if you dig, you'd see that they are quite connected and can guarantee that their son/daughter would be given proper time and be heard/seen on par with top candidates. Favours, money, other whatnots - this is the real grease on the wheels of 'meteoric rises'.

Lol not Chase Infiniti. She’s just a natural triple threat talent that has infinite luck it seems. This rising star can act, sing, dance, etc. She was a regular college girly making kpop dance covers and working as a kickbox instructor to pay for school when she was discovered right after her final theatre showcase. It’s quite fascinating that she kept getting cast partially because of the directors finding & loving her dancing vids 😂💞

Yeah, but is an announcement of her casting the same as a debut?

Perhaps Jennifer Lawrence? She was in some lower budget films, but then got Oscar nominated for Winter's Bone and was suddenly in a slate of big budget movies and 2 franchises.

Rachel Zegs was already a famous social media influencer before West Side Story. So she was already very much inside Hollywood and showbiz.

Chris Hemsworth started his American career (I'm going to guess he was on Neighbors in Australia) by filming Cabin in the Woods but that was shelved due to the Studio going bankrupt. His debut was then a brief appearance in Star Trek which was followed by him being Thor. Cabin in the Woods was finally released he looked puny compared to what people knew him for.

This is a cheat, but 2001's Ocean's Eleven says "And Introducing Julia Roberts."

If we go way back, Prince. Cher? Cher won an Oscar.
