What are some movies with nudity that shocked you or made you uncomfortable?

Posted by thebigeverybody

I just watched Night Moves. While it was a fantastic movie, I was not expecting to see the nudity it had and now I'm wondering if I'm going to get arrested or something. I don't know how old Melanie Griffith was when she filmed it, but she absolutely looked and acted like a teen much closer to childhood than adulthood. I think they played it up for effect, which made her death all the more tragic, and my skin definitely crawled when her drunken mom shouted, "Who cares? I was on my knees for half the men in Hollywood when I was her age!" I think this movie was taking a stance against that kind of thing, especially considering the old and saggy man they cast as one of her sex partners (seeing the two of them interact was so jarring it had to be intentional), but I can't really be sure because things like that were just accepted back then. Priscilla Presley was 14 when she started dating Elvis, 24. Griffith, herself, was 14 when she started dating Don Johnson, 22. Anyways, it was a rough viewing.

Jennifer Lawrence in *No Hard Feelings*. Didn't make me uncomfortable, but completely unexpected and the most hilarious shit I've seen in my life.

Under the Skin. It's the movie that has full frontal Scarlett Johansson but given the tone of the movie it just feels kind of unsettling and off.

Not quite what you asked, but I watched episode 5 of The Chair Company on an airplane. Shocked and uncomfortable doesn’t begin to describe it

Why would seeing a guy watch A Christmas Carol make you uncomfortable? It’s a pretty good movie.

Good call. That did seem random and kind of unnecessary

Its older now but i still recall seeing Bruce Willis’ completely uncensored manhood in Color of Night. I think that was the first time i saw a man do full frontal in a movie and it was a surprise. The 2025 one that got me was 28 Years Later. Seeing a zombie hung like a horse, chasing after the main characters with that thing just aggressively flopping back and forth was a hell of a sight lol. Fun fact: It was all prosthetic nudity in 28 years, cause they had a kid on set. So someone got paid really well to design a 9” flaccid zombie p**** and that just cracks me up. 💀

> I think that was the first time i saw a man do full frontal in a movie and it was a surprise. That was The Crying Game for me. Fresh out of high school with my friends and I don't think we knew how to react (this was way before I was looking for twists in every movie and didn't catch on to it until the reveal)

Apparently Michael Fassbender is so well endowed it was a distraction when he was naked on set lol. I didn’t see that movie but it cracks me up.

Are you thinking of Shame?

The same was said about Colin Farrell, when he filmed *A Home at the End of the World*. His notorious frontal scene was reportedly too distracting for test audiences, so it was removed from the theatrical release.

*Pretty Baby* (1978) stirred up much controversy over then 11-year-old Brooke Shields' nudity and portrayal of a child prostitute.

That's a weird rabbit hole. You can find the n*** photos they shot of her for a magazine and somehow, legally, it's not considered child p***.

I wasn’t prepared for the opening scene of Short Bus. Especially with my best friend at the ripe age of 18 when it came out.

I certainly wasn’t expecting the sex scenes in Don’t Look Now. I later found out it’s reasonably famous for exactly that aspect, but sheesh.

Im guessing the fact that i saw it when I was twelve had something to do with it, but the scene in Munich where the spy removes her bathrobe just before getting shot in the neck and gurgling to death in her own blood kinda took my burgeoning understanding and appreciation of sex on a very weird route

I was not prepared for Shame

Didn't her mom Tippi Hedren put Melanie in a movie with dozens of untamed lions that mauled her and multiple actors? I mean, they were acting in night moves but the lions were not acting. Would you rather be pretend assaulted by a saggy man or actually mauled by a lion? Jean Claude van Damme had the highest ratio of full n*** ass frames to movies made. And while I understand featuring his naked ass in a movie I'm just like, really? Soft lighting on his bald ass crack in a karate movie?

Let The Right One In (2008). I don't think it was real but this one actually made me shell-shocked.

It isn't real, in the book and the film >!Eli is a boy who was castrated after being turned into a vampire. In the book it goes into a bit more about how Eli identifies as a girl. !<

No Way Out with Kevin Costner. Has a really hot sex scene in the back of a limo (if I remember right). I wasn't married to my wife yet, but my now in-laws had an old-school big satellite dish in the late 1980s. I was staying in their spare room, but I was in the living room watching the movie with my mother in law after everyone else went to bed. This hot scene comes on, and it was a very uncomfortable moment...

I've watched a ton of classic films and none of them had nudity like this because of the Hays Code. What there might be is a period of time in the seventies when this was okay and, no, I haven't watched a lot of movies from that decade. JFC of all the responses possible, this was the one you chose to write.

The whole Hollywood-older men thing from that era was genuinely disturbing when you look back at it - makes you wonder how many careers were built on that kind of exploitation.
