forgiving. sometimes a little too much

adoreag795 Apr 1, 2026 +7
Teach me your secrets because I hold grudges like they are family heirlooms.

GettingSunburnt Apr 1, 2026 +3
Every time you think about someone you bear a grudge to, they're living rent-free in your head. They very likely don't care (or think) about you at all. So evict them. Forgive if you like, but just let them go. You only have so many thoughts left, so why waste them on the assholes? Works for me... usually.

smorosi Apr 1, 2026 +1
I have been letting a guy who has been dead for 28 years live rent free in my head. He tried to kidnap me and stalked me for 7 years because he had a crush on Winona Ryder and I am told even now that I favor her
1
_ogio_ Apr 1, 2026 +1
If you hold a grudge, all you get is stress, no peace and 1 good relationship less. If you forgive, your spirit is at peace and only good things can come from it. But remember: forgive doesn't mean forget For example my sister stole from me recently, i forgiven her and will always help her with anything, but she is no longer allowed in my house. She didn't apologize nor admit it(even next to overwhelming evidence). But i don't want apology. I wany sister.

Trillions of stars, approximately the same amount of planets too, and such grand vastness of space, but there's only one person (the person you have held grudge against), in this grand creation of space, isn't it naive to not be forgiving, and hold onto what they did to you? Of course the opposite is true too, but I hope it helps, since you asked for how to be forgiving.

mcbain_83 Apr 1, 2026 +4
I heard a saying, maybe Hindu and I'm butchering it im sure but it's along there lines of ... "What damage can someone do to you when you weild the sword of forgiveness. " It's very true. People want revenge to damage you but you can take that power away from them with forgiveness.

Good-Definition-1977 Apr 1, 2026 +2
that kind of heart is rare… just don’t forget you deserve the same grace you keep giving away.
2
FezaCummerb Apr 1, 2026 +1
Teach me your secrets because I still hold grudges from middle school.
1
AmazingPrincess5778 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Forgiveness is beautiful, just make sure you are not tolerating what you shouldn't
1
Obtusk22 Apr 1, 2026 +1
That’s a strength, but yeah, learning where to draw the line is what turns it into something that actually protects you too.

Really good at sex but lost my virginity at 28 and only have sex like once every 2 years. I make people finish like 5 times and leave women violently shaking. Last chick I was with said "I love you" and it was a one night stand. That was 2 and a half years ago though.... I don't go outside at all or chase tail so I never get laid.

I can gift-wrap a present so perfectly that people genuinely feel guilty opening it. I’m talking about the patterns on the paper lining up exactly at the seam, crisp 45-degree folds, and ribbons that look like they were tied by a machine. My peak achievement was wrapping a literal bicycle so it looked like a giant, elegant piece of candy. I spend 11 months of the year being a normal person and one month being a festive perfectionist

Shipping stuff that survives prod Im the one they call at 3am to trace a weird race condition to a bad cache invalidation, push a tiny pragmatic fix, add a test and a one-line changelog note because thats what keeps customers happy and the team sleeping, teh fancy refactor comes later (and is definately important but usually gets deprioritized) - also mentor juniors on debugging patterns, thats where the payoff multiplies

Being a mascot. I’ve been a mascot for 4 years at this point and I’ll probably continue being one much longer. I always used to wonder how professional athletes could be like “I’m better than everyone in this room”, but now I kinda get that feeling. I know I’m good at it even though I don’t have a big ego. It just comes naturally to me I guess, plus, it helps that I have so much experience, I’ve basically been in every situation you could think of, and then some. It’s a fun job for sure but I take it seriously, lots of great perks too. I wont reveal too much info as to keep the mascot identity secret but I go to a major SEC D1 school, it’s not like I’m at some rinky dink D3 no name. But yeah, overall it’s a fun experience and I love what I do as well as being good at it

If I fall back, I can unlock my jaw, and then I just need someone to walk my tongue to a tree, put it through a pulley, and then bring it back to me, and then I run it through my nostrils, and back to the pulley, and then back to me, and I can either lift myself up, or if I dig in real nice with my hooves I can bend the tree pretty good, or if it’s old or damaged I can pull it down.

Any word game involving scrambled letters. No one will ever play boggle or bananagrams or scrabble with me :( I can also often do those word scramble puzzles in the paper immediately, like just read them like they aren't scrambled. I think it's because im a little dyslexic and got so used to unscrambling words it's just normal reading for me at this point

I'm probably in the top 2% of software engineers and singers, which are my professions. But I'm a successful self-help author and I used to do confidence and life coaching. My ex used to say that was where my greatest talent was, that I was probably in the top fraction of a percent of people in my helpful insights in that sphere, and she thought I should focus my energy there. I just didn't like that identity. Most people associate it with charlatans. So I don't do it any more.
