I've been thinking since S5E1 that Black Noir is probably a parody of >!Deadpool from X-Men: Origins, face stitiched up because he spoke too much.!<
Could even have >!The Deep realise this and cause him to switch up on Homelander. During the preaching scene Deep seemed to be somewhat rocky about things.!<

>killing a little girl on social media?
He bragged up abducting girls in the night in an Israeli interview. Idk if he bragged about killing them on social media though.
I wasn being sarcastic in the original comment. Kripke too is a zionist. He met Frenchie's actor in Israel.
They can trash MAGA all they want and shit on the American right but would never attack MAGA's support for Israel.

I loved the first episode of [The dark wizard](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7gTjnio7oQ) documentary about the life of free solo climber / base jumper Dean Potter. But my palms are still wet. It's like watching free solo again except the guy is quite unstable and manic and kind of an a******. I remember watching some of his stunts in the early days of the internet, it's interesting to learn about who he really was.

Unwittingly rewatched Bosch cause I thought I never finished season 1 but every episode felt familiar and kept going cause I couldn't remember the outcome till it happened. Bruh I watched the whole series and thought I originally didn't watch past season one. wtf 😂
Thankfully, Bosch Legacy exists cause it wasn't out yet apparently when I watched the first time.
For the record, I love both shows. Bosch is a hard boiled detective in modern times. Reminding me of the old detective books I use to read. The private detective theme in the sequel is icing on the cake.
I watched Dexter New Blood and Resurrection. The writing was faithful to the series and took steps further, glad it didnt feel different.
Currently finished Ballard which is a spinoff of Bosch. It was aight, I was more concerned with the cases than their personal lives which is the opposite of how I felt about Bosch.
Watched first season and keeping up with the second season's weekly Daredevil Born Again episodes. It's definitely Daredevil coded, folks had me thinking it changed up or something cause it's on Disney. That'll be the last time I listen to these negative Nancys about something concerning Marvel.

**Glee**. Specifically, the season 3, episode 11, titled "Michael" (2012)
I had a powerful moment in the 80s and 90s because of the art of Michael Jackson, rekindled by the countdown to his 2026 biopic.
Glee 3:11 is part of that countdown.

Started the newest season of Invincible and I feel the same way about it as I ever did: for 75% of the time it is fine but mostly just lacklustre, and but then you get one or two episodes scattered throughout that are incredible, and I find it very frustrating.
I read the comics as they were coming out (started nearly 20 years ago) and they had a huge impact on me, and while I might be looking at it with some rose tinted glasses, I don't remember myself ever feeling bored by the side plot stuff in the comics whereas the TV show seems to get by entirely on it's climax moments. The art in the comics was consistently a pleasure to look at, whereas the show everything is completely flat, zero texture or detail.
My biggest complaint though as someone who has some past experience in the field is the sound design. It's like they completely forget to add any ambient sounds to the scenes, or when they do it is barely audible compared to the dialog, and the result is so much dead air. They can be 200 feet in the air and not so much as a gust of wind lol.
I'm going to push through because I know that the good bits will be good, but I hate this formula in so many shows these days where it's just shit for the majority, but then sometimes amazing enough to keep you watching.

I just rewatched Banshee, and I can confidently tell you that it gets significantly better as the season goes on, and takes a big jump in season 2.
I didn’t remember how lackluster the start of it was. I think it’s because I’ve watched a lot more television now that I’m more discerning than I was before. Unrealistic, piss poor acting, lazy tropes, but interspersed with epic scenes that are a glimpse of what’s to come.
Definitely stick with it. Has the best fight scenes in any show by a wide margin and is just extremely entertaining overall.
There’s a decent amount of cringe in season 1, but it’s still good, and season 2 is a big step up. It’s worth continuing to watch it just for one fight sequence alone in season three that’s probably the coolest choreography I’ve ever seen on a screen

The Testaments.
Have to admit, I dropped out of Handmaids Tale somewhere around Season 3.
But this show considers a whole new perspective- what would it be like to be an adolescent who ONLY knew Gilead?
And what would it be like to approach your prescribed future as a woman if you had never known any other options?
Also strong performances by some talented young actors, and of course the signature aesthetic/cinematography.

I’m on episode 6 right now and I might kinda agree with both of you now. The feud isn’t as visceral as season 1. There’s more “beef” with the couples themselves instead of couple vs couple.
I’m sure that’ll change in the last two episodes but I’m still enjoying it I guess lol

Yeah I finished it the day of! It was kinda weak imo. I liked the ending but it wasn’t really a show about beefing. It was a show about trying to survive the Korean mafia essentially. That part of the story took hold of the show and took away from the two couples feuding. Your thoughts?

Guys, help me find a good TV show.
* zombies / infection type
* no dumb characters like in Black Summer
* zombies are the primary threat
* none of those "muh humans are the walking dead"
* focus on survival rather than soap drama
* preferred (not required) to set it during the initial outbreak
* I want the hectic chaos of this unknown threat catching everyone by surprise
* Think the first episode of TLOU or the first season of FOTD
* Already watched some Kdramas like All of Us are Dead and Kingdom
**Thanks**

Dead Set (UK)
Since you like the "hectic chaos" of day one, this is peak. It’s a 5-episode miniseries where a zombie outbreak happens while Big Brother is filming. The contestants are clueless while the world ends outside. It was written by Charlie Brooker (before Black Mirror), so the writing is sharp and the zombies are the terrifyingly fast, 28 Days Later type. No soap opera fluff, just pure panic and tight pacing.
To the Lake (Epidemiya)
This is a Russian series, and honestly, it handles the "logistics of an outbreak" better than almost anything else. It follows a group trying to get out of Moscow as a respiratory virus turns people into aggressive, pale-eyed shells. It’s very grounded—people worry about fuel, cold, and roadblocks rather than standing around having "feelings" talks. The characters are actually smart and cynical, which makes their survival feel earned.
The Strain
If you want the "unknown threat catching people by surprise" vibe, the first season is great. It starts with a "dead" plane landing at JFK and the CDC trying to treat it like a biological outbreak. It uses a lot of scientific/procedural terminology which makes the infection feel more "real" and less like a magic curse. The creatures (strigoi) are a genuine, overwhelming threat that keep evolving, so the focus stays on the biology of the threat.
Cordon (The Belgian version, NOT the US remake)
This is arguably the best "quarantine" show out there. A section of Antwerp is walled off after a lethal virus is found. It nails the claustrophobia and the breakdown of order without the characters acting like total idiots for the sake of the plot. It’s less about "zombies" and more about the raw survival and "hectic chaos" of being trapped in an infected zone.
S.O.Z: Soldiers or Zombies
This one is a bit more action-heavy but avoids the "dumb survivor" trope because the main players are cartel members and elite soldiers. When a US military experiment goes sideways, you get "smart" zombies that are actually tactical. It skips the melodrama and leans into the chaos of a high-stakes breakout in the desert.

Renewed Netflix (USA) so getting back into some oldies but goodies.
- *The Law According to Lidia Poët* (Italiano Original) — Just finished the first season. The crimes are meh but the costume design, interactions between one another, the drama and how she goes about solving the crime is very engaging. A surprising 3rd season was renewed and it just came out. This doesn’t line up with historical precedence in some parts, but Lidia Poët was a real person, who was the first woman to become a lawyer in Italy.
- *Search Party* Season 1 — I’m enjoying this very much. It has the right combo of cringe and heart. I’m only half way through and am excited to see how this pans out. I adore all the characters and their strong personalities.
- *Ponies* — Quite enjoying it. I’m a sucker for tropes and this hits all the spots. The characters very much remind me of *Rizzoli & Isles*. So I eat it up.
- *Maniac* — Jonah Hill & Emma Stone. I’m only a few episodes in but it has me in a chokehold. Excited to see where it goes.
- *Wild Cards* Season 2 — Still love the chemistry between the leads. It is so palpable. Reminds me of Bones & Booth. Not by temperament but how you can feel the chemistry through the screen. It’s Canadian and proud of it. It’s funny and the way the crimes are solved is fun too. An easy crime drama to end your day.
- *Young Sherlock* — Saving the worst for last. I have been pushing myself through this season. I’m on episode 4 and I think I’m stopping there. I’m not a fan of Sherlock or Moriarty. And finding out one of the actors is a Fiennes relative sours my watching, since I don’t find him a good actor… in this role at least. I might watch the second half of the season but I’m not getting my hopes up it will be any time soon.
If any of y’all have Serialized you can add me or check out my eclectic tastes: https://srlzd.com/u/Tsalal

**The Capture (BBC)** \- Fantastic conspiracy thriller about deep fake technology in the govts willing to weaponize it. Just finished the 3rd (and likely final?) season. Well worth your time. First season touched on things that are *very* real now. It was ahead of it's time.
**Gone (ITV)** \- I'll watch anything with David Morrissey or Eve Myles in it. David plays a headmaster who's wife goes missing. It's a whodunnit yes but also plays on themes of guilt and co-dependency and and burdens of a professional life. Only 6 episodes. It's great.
**Daredevil: Born Again** \- It's really good. Far better than previous season. I'm a DD fanatic in all it's forms so I'm biased. But this season has been building and building to what I expect to be a massive final few episodes.
**The Boys** \- Consistently entertaining but the plate is wobbling. There is only so many times The Boys can get aware from Homelander without becoming parody itself. I'm glad it's wrapping up in a few episodes. It's been a good run
**Unexpected (TLC)** \- Yes that's right. I have range. Young, stupid people who don't believe in birth control get knocked up and of course live in states where they can't do shit about it. Families fight. Kids are born. It's trash but strangely riveting at times and conversation provoking (in a voyeuristic way)
**The Pitt (HBO) -** It's good. I'm not loving it like last season because it feels like we are getting another 'Robbie is going off the rails again!' finale which we got last season. Also feels like we know almost nothing about the new characters which is a shame. Baby Jane Doe better be ok however.

Zero chemistry as a whole and they pretty much break off into smaller groups rarely ever getting along as actual friends. Hughie is the only one who manages to have chemistry with each member of the group and Butcher does with a few - particularly Hughie & MM.

And older one, a mini-series that aired on ABC, Eleanor and Franklin (1976), about someone whom I much admire. Eleanor Roosevelt. There was no like her and will never again.
Based on the 1971 Pulitzer Prize-winning and best-selling biography by Eleanor's personal secretary Joseph P. Lash.
>She became an advocate of the rights and needs of the poor, of minorities, and of the disadvantaged. The public was drawn in by the First Lady's exploits and adventures which she recounted in her daily syndicated column, "My Day". She began writing the column in 1935 and continued until her death in 1962. https://www.fdrlibrary.org/er-biography#:\~:text=She%20began%20writing%20the%20column,by%20President%20Kennedy%20in%201961.

* The Testaments - Wasn't sure if I was going to watch it but given that Elizabeth Moss has such a small part, I decided to give it a shot, and it's pretty good so far. It doesn't seem like they're going to follow the book exactly, so the differences have been interesting.
* Shrinking - I felt Season 3 was great but definitely lacked any real emotional stakes towards the end. It felt like a Series finale, rather than a season finale.
* The Boys - This season is definitely off to a strong start, and knowing it's the final season, the danger feels a bit more real. I'm sure it'll end up in a bloodbath with 90% of the main cast dead before the finale, and I'm here for it.
* The Rookie - It's copaganda but I do enjoy it. Definitely hasn't been unfolding the way I thought it would and I'm wondering if they're going to resolve this seasons big plot or whether they'll carry it over to next season.
* High Potential - Another copaganda but it's nice to see Kaitlin Olson in a completely different role than I'm used to, and it has enough intrigue to keep me watching.
* The Pitt - I was a bit late to the party with this one, but I'm glad I got into it. It's one of those that I kind of feel works better as a binge, just based on the format of the show, so I may have to go back and rewatch the season in a single sitting.
* Ghosts - I have no idea what's happening with the release cycle of this season. I could have sworn it was over months ago, but I'm glad there are more episodes.
* Scrubs - It wasn't really hitting me the way the old series hit me until Episode 8, I always felt that Scrubs was at its best when it was dealing with heavy storylines with a bit of comedy to make sure it's not overbearing.
* Your Friends and Neighbors - This series can be very hit or miss with me, I'm not massively into the rich suburb drama stuff, but I can see how it plays into the bigger plot. It just feels like low stakes Breaking Bad meets Desperate Housewives, I'm hoping for a bit more this season.

Few HBO shows you should watch if you haven't already.
1) Oz - the show that started it all. Fantastic cast.
2) Rome- Rome walked so that Game of Thrones could run. The first season is one of the best television ever made. The second season is rushed but still is top draw tv. THIRTEEN!
3) Carnivale- A story of good and evil of biblical proportions set in Depression era America. One of the greatest misses by HBO in cancelling this show but sadly it did not make numbers.
I am not mentioning the usual suspects of The Wire, Sopranos or Six Feet Under.

Watching The Testaments while rewatching Handmaids Tale for my girlfriend who never saw it.
Testaments is a step back in basically every way. The writing is mediocre, the acting is not nearly as good (except for the main actress), production value feels down a notch, cinematography is average. Still enjoying it because I like the universe and a new story within it is still enjoyable, but it's just not nearly as good as Handmaid's Tale.

Maul and daredevil continue to be amazing. I am impressed more and more with how well Maul is made. Daredevil born again season 2 continues to be noticeably better than the previous season. Now I can’t wait for the Pitt this week

-Daredevil Born again S2 is such a step above the first season(and i still enjoyed the first season) its been truly great to watch and reminds me of the Netflix series in the best way possible.
With this and Wonderman i think Marvel is cracking down on making their shows feel like shows. Both great and curious to see how S2 ends.
-Scrubs needs to get renewed for S10. This could be bias since Scrubs has always been one of my favorite shows but this is the best continuation of a old show ever. They picked up like they never left. Bill Lawrence has to be one of the best TV writers. His resume speaks for itself and i can't wait for Ted Lasso S4.

Not really enjoying invincible s4 so far, it feels really lacking compared to previous seasons. Power scaling feels all over the place, viltrumites don't really feel like a threat when they seem to struggle in every fight. Hoping the 2nd half of the season is better

**Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen**-like a lot of horror/mystery shows this one sort of sputters out once the answers start coming but I can easily recommend it because of the strong cast and performances.
**Big Mistakes**
After three episodes this one is just not hitting for me. It’s a shame because I like everyone involved and expected this to be fun but there’s like a mid-level energy threshold to the show. It’s not terrible, but it’s also something that I probably wouldn’t finish if I was watching it alone.

Okay, so I know **The Big Bang Theory** is not a listnook fave, but I’m watching through because my girlfriend enjoys it. It’s honestly pretty funny at times. It’s enjoyable enough.
But I think that the shows biggest flaw (besides the obvious dated humor like Howard’s general sexist vibe) is that it just… does not let emotions or drama breathe. I’m not saying sitcoms need to be dramedies, but the best sitcoms mixed in a little drama on occasion.
The best example so far (I’m only on S3) is Penny and Leonard getting together. They have a genuinely pretty sweet moment where Leonard is leaving on a three month long expedition and Penny can’t admit she doesn’t want him to go except to herself after he closes the door. I thought it was a cute, little sad/romantic moment.
Except then the very next episode (the premiere of S3) they come back and she just immediately kisses him when he opens the door and there’s no tension no build up no nothing.
It just felt like, for lack of a better term, it blew its load. They also sleep together by the end of the episode with like… no tension at all.
I feel like it wouldn’t have such a mixed reputation if it just let itself have just a minute without throwing in some kind of joke.

It's fine for what it is – one of the few network television shows of its day aimed at the nerdy Xennial crowd. The people who grew up on dial-up Internet, think Star Trek: TNG is the best TV show ever made, and attend ComicCon. (I'm describing myself here.) My wife and I watched it weekly throughout its entire run.

**Swan Company / La Compagnia Del Cigno**
Italian YA drama revolves around group of conservatory students in Milan. Trope-y dysfunctional student-teacher relationship a la Whiplash although more well intentioned. Characters break out in song, kind of like La La Land.
It's agreeable enough to have on the background for the views of Milan and the music and the beautiful Fazioli pianos, pretty sure that's product placement, which I don't mind?

It has a psychological intrigue in it. I don't want to give anything away but every episode you're left with wanting to know what happens next. It has some family mystery to it blended with a competition for the father's massive multi-million dollar estate. You root for both characters to win in the end. I found the 3 languages, Japanese, French, and English compelling as the show moves forward and explains the complex differences in the characters. It was not at all what I expected. My husband and I like wine, not very knowledgeable, but still thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters and their development are what make the show along with their relationship to one another.

**Something Very Bad is Going to Happen (Netflix)** DNF
This had a a glowing recommendation on The Watch podcast and as a fan of both David Lynch and Mike Flanagan, I thought I would be up for an enjoyable surreal supernatural horror set in what looks like the PNW, the classic setting for this type of show. I however thought this one ended up pretty mediocre, bordering on silly, which shows how hard it is to pull off a Twin Peaks/Midnight Mass-style show without being campy or derivative. Hearing an interview with the showrunner, she mentioned being hugely inspired by 'Servant', which similarly promised much and delivered little in this genre.
**Ergo Proxy (Crunchroll)**
This had been getting some press recently as a hidden cyberpunk anime classic from a couple of decades ago, but, eh, it was more a post-apocalyptic/metaphysical action story that spends way more time in a tedious Mad Max-style wasteland than in the way more interesting cyberpunk city that stands alone against the wasteland.
**Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 (Crunchyroll)** (Ongoing)
The first season of Frieren was the first anime I've legitimately enjoyed in quite a while but the second season, three episodes in, is pretty high in saccharine sentimentality and pretty low on plot.

Despite the wide swings in tone, I quite enjoyed Riz Ahmed's **Bait**, more than, let's say the NYT reviewer did. The humour lands for the most part (though I do think there's an over-reliance on vulgarity), performances across the board are engaging, and at 30 minutes a pop, none of the 6 episodes overstays their welcome.
But maybe Ahmed should have downsized his narrative for movie form instead.

Watched the Malcolm in the Middle reboot after hoping for years and years (I think the first rumors came up I in 2015) for it to air as I am a big fan and still regularly rewatch the show.
I know it has great reviews but what can I say, I am kind of disappointed?
The characters don’t really feel the same - it’s like someone who didn’t watch the show put together all the actors for a reunion and hoped for the best. Compare this to the Scrubs reunion, that feels somehow like its own new thing but also a continuation of the old show. A lot better.
Rewatching Wonder Man - I must say the “door man” episode is easily my favorite so far of any show this year, it feels like a black mirror / marvel crossover, I know it’s not that popular but I love it.

It was originally supposed to be a movie and then they made it a TV series. IMO the transition was not that smooth. I really like a lot of what's there but it isn't presented in a balanced way, for example episode 3 leaning very heavily into the stuff with Hal, which is more than half of the episode.
It's okay for it to not feel like the original TV show but it's a bit weird when it is still a miniseries with multiple episodes, but each episode doesn't stand on its own and tell an individual story like the originals did.

Same here, super disappointed in the reboot. I dont know how you can have a reunion and barely have the brothers interact with each other. The show was built off dysfunctional brotherly shenanigans and removing that aspect is a huge mistake. Like Hal and Lois were great but thats about it and thats unfortunate. All of the new characters were unnecessary although Kelly was decent.

You've nailed the same reason I ducked out of the Arrested Development revival. Season 4 was so bad because the cast barely interacted.
