Years ago I was consulting for a company that had a department lunch outing for a director’s 50th birthday and I tagged along. A few hours later he was called in by the CIO and HR to be let go and escorted out by security.

**The 'Talking Phase' of dating.** For most, it’s butterflies and excitement. For me, it feels like an entry-level job interview where I have to repeatedly pitch my personality, resume, and childhood trauma just to see if I’m qualified for a second round.

Drawing.
I haven't done it for fun since my teens. Started selling them and got commissions, then eventually a job sketching ideas, then that led to designing, art directing where I get to illustrate. I haven't drawn for fun in 20 years.

While everyone else is laughing and drinking wine I am mentally calculating the exact timing of the oven racks and the structural integrity of the seating chart. Hosting a big dinner party isn't a relaxing social event for me but a high stakes logistics operation where every guest is a variable I have to manage.

I’m a coffee cupper as a profession. It is a great job, but it’s a job.
