Highlander 2
1523
Zealousideal_Draw_94 Mar 29, 2026 +335
There is only one…
335
goobypanther Mar 29, 2026 +257
There should have been only one
257
Bods666 Mar 29, 2026 +71
And *officially* it isn’t part of the franchise anymore.
71
GetOutOfTheHouseNOW Mar 29, 2026 +33
A shame, because I wanted to know more about planet Zeist.
33
WhoThenDevised Mar 29, 2026 +10
I loved it how the script writer came up with the name Zeist, a mysterious exotic planet, while all the time it's just the town where my dad grew up in The Netherlands.
10
Hausgebrauch Mar 29, 2026 +61
Definitely the best looking awful movie ever made.
61
tunrip Mar 29, 2026 +34
Highlander 2 was the first I saw in the series. I really enjoyed it. I rewatched it multiple times. I've never gone off a movie so much after I saw the first one.
34
CyptidProductions Mar 29, 2026 +47
Nah, thats not even the worst Highlander sequel. That honor goes to The Source from 2007
47
libra00 Mar 29, 2026 +25
2 was, however, a *massive* drop in quality from 1, which is what OP was asking for. By the time Source came out they were all dogshit anyway, so a particularly smelly turd like that doesn't even stand out all that much.

Son of the Mask
1158
ddddyyylllaaannn Mar 29, 2026 +135
According to Wikipedia, it had a budget of between 85 to 100 million dollars. The first X-Men had a budget of 75 million. The Jim Carrey mask movie had a budget of 18-23 million dollars.
135
Darmug Mar 29, 2026 +34
Where did the money go!?

Their coke dealer.
37
k3id0 Mar 29, 2026 +174
Was searching for this comment. Even as a kid I hated this movie and I was the primary “dumb” audience for this
174
HiTork Mar 29, 2026 +28
This movie arguably derailed Jamie Kennedy's career.
28
ccReptilelord Mar 29, 2026 +74
Those older Jim Carrey comedies were a league of their own, and this film demonstrated why you don't play in that league without him.
74
MyWifeIsAsleep Mar 29, 2026 +45
Specifically with The Mask, they wanted to film with a lot more cgi, and they realized that Carrey could do a good amount of it himself.
45
applecidercore Mar 29, 2026 +57
It is fascinating to me how bad that movie is
57
TheColtOfPersonality Mar 29, 2026 +22
This is the legit answer. At least 99% of other sequels listed here had *some* of the returning actors or relevance to the original film’s premise. Son of the Mask is a different tone from the original, with an entirely different cast - and not even *re*cast with the same characters - and is clearly only made to get butts in the seat by using nostalgia for the original. It walked so that the Ace Venture Jr movie could run
22
Bods666 Mar 29, 2026 +347
Highlander 2. So bad they retconned it in 3.
347
Cool_As_Your_Dad Mar 29, 2026 +35
3 is on netflix. Started it 5min in I stopped. Nope
35
LouSputhole94 Mar 29, 2026 +36
Now consider the fact 2 is actually worse
36
my5cworth Mar 29, 2026 +798
Jaws 3 makes Jaws 2 look like Jaws 1
798
stbens Mar 29, 2026 +152
I have a big soft spot for Jaws 3. Jaws The Revenge, however, is truly awful.
152
DigNitty Mar 29, 2026 +109
Michael Caine said about Jaws 4/The Revenge, after being paid $1million for 10 days work : “I haven’t seen it, but I have seen the house it bought my mother, and it’s marvelous.”
109
kec04fsu1 Mar 29, 2026 +35
Didn’t he also say something like “If you have to be a prostitute, be an expensive prostitute” referring to how much he got paid.
35
LouSputhole94 Mar 29, 2026 +7
I’d do a lot worse things than starring in a bad movie to earn a million in 10 days
7
Golden-Sun Mar 29, 2026 +39
Same, Jaws 3 is bad but its good bad.
39
Fancy_Cassowary Mar 29, 2026 +36
Favourite part is when the shark goes through the glass. Obviously it looks terrible in 2D, which is awesome, but it's difficult to imagine it looking THAT great in 3D at the time either.
36
UpsetFuture1974 Mar 29, 2026 +16
If only they had stayed out of the water
16
Silver-Article9183 Mar 29, 2026 +29
Jaws 3 is a cinematic masterpiece compared to 4
29
phatelectribe Mar 29, 2026 +129
Obligatory quote from Micheal Caine, when asked why he did Jaws 3 and what he thought of it: “I haven’t seen it (the film). But I have seen the house it built, and it’s terrific”.
129
lets-play-nagasaki Mar 29, 2026 +87
That quote was for Jaws 4, but yea great quote about how bad that one was.
87
anonanon5320 Mar 29, 2026 +18
Jaws 4. Jaws 3 was when Jaws attacked Sea World Orlando which was somehow connected to the ocean despite being roughly 52.5 miles from the ocean.
18
Spastik2D Mar 29, 2026 +12
Jaws 2 isn’t bad imo. It’s unnecessary but at bare minimum, it’s decent. Just wish they touched more on Brody’s PTSD.
12
MzMissfettegeist_18 Mar 29, 2026 +162
The Lost Boys 2 as well as the other following films. The first was a CLASSIC!
162
Sea-Factor4603 Mar 29, 2026 +120
I didn't even know there was a Lost Boys 2!
120
MzMissfettegeist_18 Mar 29, 2026 +26
Absolutley!:) It's called Lost Boys: The Tribe!
26
CyptidProductions Mar 29, 2026 +40
Theres actually two sequels from the late 2000s that were pretty much vanity projects for Corey Fieldman to reprise his role in
40
glen_ko_ko Mar 29, 2026 +26
This is the most surprising information that is the least surprising information I have learned in a long time
26

In terms of being a huge downgrade with little redeeming qualities, Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Exatal123 Mar 29, 2026 +23
I’m very glad that it did not take me very long to find this. I still get mad about how they treated Mako’s character.
23
LoseAnotherMill Mar 29, 2026 +117
Oh, you mean the Disney Channel Original Movie spinoff of that fantastic Pacific Rim movie?
117
_paag Mar 29, 2026 +18
This is a GREAT description for the movie, I’ll use it.
18
JoshDM Mar 29, 2026 +91
Independence Day 2 is up there too.
91
Prs-Mira86 Mar 29, 2026 +7
Ohhhh for me it’s this. It had none of the charm of the first one.
7
doctorstrand Mar 29, 2026 +13
They f****** fridged Mako offscreen and I will never forgive them.
13
itsthewolfe Mar 29, 2026 +10
I'm still holding out hope for a new movie.
10
EarlyXplorerStuds209 Mar 29, 2026 +40
That doesn’t exist. Dont just make up movie sequels lmao.

JoesBurning Mar 29, 2026 +265
I couldn't believe how bad that was.
265
Sprinkle_Puff Mar 29, 2026 +149
Just make a wish and it won’t be! Let’s convince the whole world!!
149
JFKsBrain Mar 29, 2026 +123
It made Pedro Pascal look bad.
123
NotTheRocketman Mar 29, 2026 +148
Counter-argument: I think Pedro was having a lot of fun being over the top and silly.
148
Theory89 Mar 29, 2026 +117
"Life is good! But it can be better." Honestly he was the best bit about the film. Pretty much the only bit I remember, lol.
117
JFKsBrain Mar 29, 2026 +20
Def best part but that is faint praise indeed.
20
blogst Mar 29, 2026 +75
I could go on a long time about how bad this movie was. I’ll just leave it at saying a) there’s no way the Smithsonian just keeps fully functional and fueled fighter jets sitting around and b) even if there were a fully flight ready jet sitting around, the max distance on those was under 3k miles; they would’ve crapped out and crashed in the Atlantic Ocean. I know there’s also suspension of disbelief that there’s an immortal Amazon woman trying to stop a man who’s turned into himself into a monkey’s paw genie, but movies have to exist within the worlds they build. Oh, and the whole taking over a random dude’s body and SA’ing him instead of the wishing stone just bringing Chris Pine back which, again, within the context of the rules we see for the stone it could have done given that other places in the movie it creates something out of nothingness.
75
slymm Mar 29, 2026 +24
I agree with everything you've said but I also want to draw a big arrow to your point about movies existing in the worlds they build. A movie tells me its rules and I'm willing to accept almost anything. But once those rules are established, they HAVE to abide by them. WW has a bunch of wacky magic/superhero shit, and that's fine, but then everything else is "regular earth". So it's absolutely reasonable for us to get upset about the plane situation.
24
BigEdMustaphaz Mar 29, 2026 +29
As dreadful superhero movies go I think I hated this almost as much as Madame Web and even more than Morbius.
29
WarpRealmTrooper Mar 29, 2026 +35
Why have you seen WW84 **and** Madame Web **and** Morbius?
35
BigEdMustaphaz Mar 29, 2026 +28
I don’t like relying on popular opinion to tell me what to think about movies. However for these three it does indeed turn out popular opinion was right. Additional news popular opinion was wrong about Kraven the Hunter.
28
Exotic_Knee_5621 Mar 29, 2026 +9
+1 for Kraven
9
CCIR_601 Mar 29, 2026 +22
Good to know they keep aircraft maintained and fueled up in the Smithsonian.
22
jfk_47 Mar 29, 2026 +108
Yea, WW2 through WW83 weren’t that bad, but WW84 was terrible.
108
sixtyshilling Mar 29, 2026 +64
WW1 *was* a Great War, though.
64
Groningen1978 Mar 29, 2026 +8
I would even go as far as saying WW1 was THE Great War.
8
EvelcyclopS Mar 29, 2026 +24
Whe are people going to accept that Gal Gadot is just simply *hot* and nothing else?
24
arbydallas Mar 29, 2026 +7
Tbh I thought WW was a very good superhero movie. She's not a great actress but she did pretty darn well for what it required I thought, and the plot and writing were much better than WW1984. And there were a couple of other good actors who helped a lot - Diane Lane, Chris Pine, Robin Wright
7
mrishee Mar 29, 2026 +37
I didnt even think WW was that good and havent seen WW84 so I cant imagine how bad it must be.
37
AleksandrNevsky Mar 29, 2026 +74
Wonder Woman SAs a guy. No I'm not f****** with you on that. I haven't a clue wtf Patty Jenkins was thinking with the meat puppet thing.
74
mrishee Mar 29, 2026 +35
Sexual assault? Meat puppet? ... Mom can you pick me up, I'm scared.
35
AwakenMirror Mar 29, 2026 +52
She "revives" Chris Pines character from the first one in the body of an unkown, unwilling other dude and obviously goes to town with him. It's absolutely mental how that got through.
52
guinness_blaine Mar 29, 2026 +8
Among many other complaints: They made being in the 80s such a big point of the movie that it’s in the title. The movie goes heavy on 80s fashion and fads. One of the early scenes has Wonder Woman busting some criminals in a mall, because 80s. Somehow, in all of this 80s craze, they forgot about the soundtrack. Just a super weird choice to go “hey look it’s the 80s!” and not have a bunch of 80s music in the movie.
8
Economy_Fuel6717 Mar 29, 2026 +265
S. Darko
265
Potential_Narwhal981 Mar 29, 2026 +106
Almost as bad as American Psycho 2
106
brodievonorchard Mar 29, 2026 +37
IIRC both made by the same production company.
37
libra00 Mar 29, 2026 +38
Wait, did they make a f****** sequel of Donnie Darko? Pardon me while I throw up in my mouth a little.
38
boxofrabbits Mar 29, 2026 +43
It was made completely without the permission of the writer/creator.
43
PeachesPennyxx Mar 29, 2026 +229
Mean Girls 2
229
rites0fpassage Mar 29, 2026 +22
Oof. That was the Disney version
22
ThrowThisIntoSol Mar 29, 2026 +278
Dumb and Dumberer was terrible. Literally the only movie I ever walked out of.
278
Snail_Anatomy Mar 29, 2026 +139
One of the worst movies with one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen. The only redeeming quality is the scene where Bob Sagat is screaming about there being shit everywhere.
139
gothicfabio Mar 29, 2026 +49
Agreed. That scene hit me like a freight train compared to how terrible the rest of the movie was. Part had me crying laughing
49
Snail_Anatomy Mar 29, 2026 +20
Came out of nowhere. I was absolutely wheezing laughing.
20
glen_ko_ko Mar 29, 2026 +19
Who's gonna clean this??? I also like when Eugene Levy is asked if he got the extender
19
mental_reincarnation Mar 29, 2026 +12
My house is full of shit! God awful movie but yeah that scene is etched into my brain
12
ConradFazza Mar 29, 2026 +8
I can still hear how he delivers those lines to this day. Absolutely cracked me up.
8
brittonwk Mar 29, 2026 +100
Every time this question gets asked, my answer is always the same. ***The Jerk, Too*** I defy anyone to find a genuinely worse film, let alone sequel.
100
Bob-Bhlabla-esq Mar 29, 2026 +110
Today I'm learning there are so many movies that had sequels I've never, ever heard of... and for good reason!
110
WhatDoesThatButtond Mar 29, 2026 +30
To be fair a bunch of these are direct to DVD. I think the sequel requirement should be a theater release minimum.
30
Own-Ambition-4405 Mar 29, 2026 +320
Speed 2 without Keanu Reeves. Why did they make it, why? I loved the first one, but this was awful.
320
DeathMonkey6969 Mar 29, 2026 +121
The only reason Sandra Bullock agreed to make Speed 2 was a deal that if she did it Hope Floats would get made.
121
Xiniov Mar 29, 2026 +63
This is how a lot of Hollywood operates, both for actors and filmmakers, when it comes to studio deals For notable talents (who are normally in pretty good things) that have done a stinker film you can usually see that these were followed by a lower budget passion project afterwards
63
olrg Mar 29, 2026 +24
“You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him.”
24
Poop_Cheese Mar 29, 2026 +41
Idk I find that movie a ridiculous gem. Speed is more serious. Speed 2 is hilarious. Like when the villain leeches himself for whatever the hell reason that was about, and slams the ship into the docks. It is not a good movie but I am so happy to live in the universe where it exists lol
41
Last-Courage2204 Mar 29, 2026 +22
Speed 2 is a disaster, but it’s the kind of trainwreck that’s pure joy to watch. Some movies are better for laughs than for logic, and that one nails it.
22
AcanthaceaeOk2426 Mar 29, 2026 +19
Absolutely. Willem Dafoe as the bad guy, cheesy plot and an out of control cruise ship? Perfect enjoyable brainrot viewing.
19
Parisian_Nightsuit Mar 29, 2026 +68
“This is like Speed 2, except it’s on a bus instead of a boat!”
68
Parallel-Quality Mar 29, 2026 +51
No, no, you’re thinking of a different movie. I think it was called “the boat that couldn’t slow down.”
51
ohsuper4405 Mar 29, 2026 +10
Nothing gets me more excited for speed, than the words ' cruise control'
10
physio_poet Mar 29, 2026 +14
The fact that they replaced Keanu Reeves with Jason Patric and thought nobody would notice is still wild to me.
14
SevenDos Mar 29, 2026 +31
Sometimes, a great movie comes out. And it does way better than the studio thought it would. That's when the studio execs go for a cash grab with terrible sequels that should never have been made. A few examples: S. Darko, Speed 2, American Psycho 2, Blair Witch 2, Grease 2, Hangover 2.
31
Galausia Mar 29, 2026 +6
I'm assuming it's because I was a young kid, but I remember really liking Grease 2. I'm torn on whether or not I should watch it again.
6
gabe2591 Mar 29, 2026 +450
joker 2 is definitely up there
450
epraider Mar 29, 2026 +63
Pretty bold decision to actively spit in the face of everyone who liked the first movie just because there was a few freaks online who idolized the Joker too much.
63
Spirited-Limit-9071 Mar 29, 2026 +156
Zoolander 2
156
Tapdance_Epidemic Mar 29, 2026 +58
I don't use this word lightly but Zoolander 2 was an atrocity.
58
Just-Becausee11 Mar 29, 2026 +26
Is there really a Zoolander 2?
26
LarsThorwald Mar 29, 2026 +34
Are you serious? I just explained that.
34
HumanBeing7396 Mar 29, 2026 +23
But why male models?
23
-CrabCrimes- Mar 29, 2026 +29
It’s actually “Zoolander No. 2”. You know, like poo? That is the level of comedy you’re getting in this movie
29
RMRdesign Mar 29, 2026 +117
Caddy Shack 2
117
nightmaresabin Mar 29, 2026 +29
For some reason I saw Caddy Shack 2 many times as a kid but never the original. So I have quite a bit of nostalgia for Caddy Shack 2 lol
29
Oseirus Mar 29, 2026 +10
Please tell me you've finally gotten around to watching the first one since then? That movie is so unhinged in all the best ways.
10
UpsetFuture1974 Mar 29, 2026 +8
You just reminded me that Grease 2 is awful
8
jamall1978 Mar 29, 2026 +8
This was me for the longest time. If you are the right age, Caddy Shack 2 was in heavy rotation on HBO as a kid
8
poopolisher Mar 29, 2026 +362
Independence Day resurgence and it’s not even close
362
Dr_Hayden Mar 29, 2026 +68
I honestly would like to know how that script got read by multiple people and they decided it was good enough to make a movie.
68
NikonShooter_PJS Mar 29, 2026 +38
My theory is someone at the studio got sick of being asked about it every day for twenty years and said “F*** it, just film the damn thing.”
38
ravih Mar 29, 2026 +17
Let alone one intending to set up another sequel!
17
Tackit286 Mar 29, 2026 +14
It’s the single worst film I’ve ever seen in the cinema. Everyone involved should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
14
pwnd32 Mar 29, 2026 +19
The most egregiously bad thing about that movie for me is the character assassination of Jeff Goldblum’s character from the first movie. I mean, it’s like they straight up assassinated his original character and replaced him with Jeff Goldblum acting as himself.
19
DoNotReply111 Mar 29, 2026 +12
To be fair, Jeff's last few roles have been exactly this.
12
Last_Aeon Mar 29, 2026 +17
Pacific rim thankfully doesn’t have a sequel
17
nerdwa Mar 29, 2026 +286
I’ll say one that I don’t see yet. Gladiator 2. While it wasn’t technically a terrible film, it should have been a standalone movie and not a sequel to a masterpiece.
286
sjscott77 Mar 29, 2026 +32
Felt like the screenplay was written by AI
32
Astronaut100 Mar 29, 2026 +81
It’s an objectively terrible movie even as a standalone. I was dozing halfway through it, not giving a shit about what happens to the protagonist. Compared to the original, it should be illegal to call this its sequel lol.
81
dreamphoenix Mar 29, 2026 +33
It’s barely even a movie. It’s just a collection of stitched together scenes that look kinda cool on 30 min YouTube video.
33
Girth_Wind_y_Fire Mar 29, 2026 +11
They regurgitated the same plot and even a lot of the same LINES from the first one. It was the most unoriginal movie I've ever seen. I couldn't believe people were hyping it up. Steaming pile of shit
11
Bento_Fox Mar 29, 2026 +60
Exorcist 2 was bad. It's better to just skip that one and go right to Exorcist 3 after watching the original.
60
Draft-Repulsive Mar 29, 2026 +20
It’s a shame exorcist 2 set up exorcist 3 for failure but it’s nice seeing all the recent retrospective love for exorcist 3
20
jimicus Mar 29, 2026 +59
Blues Brothers 2000.
59
Kimantha_Allerdings Mar 29, 2026 +12
Oh yeah. Literally the only good thing about this film is the music
12
Paliente Mar 29, 2026 +47
The Mask 2 or Dumb and Dumberer
47
ValleyFloydJam Mar 29, 2026 +7
Yep those jump straight into my mind. Cruel Intentions and American Psycho sequels fall into that category too.
7
hashgraphic Mar 29, 2026 +16
Christmas Vacation 2 is absolutely unwatchable
16
Stock-Ferret-6692 Mar 29, 2026 +26
I didn’t even know there was a second one damn
26
zerbey Mar 29, 2026 +8
The only returning cast member is Cousin Eddie, that should tell you everything you need to know.
8
MuffinMan12347 Mar 29, 2026 +16
Titanic 2. That’s right, there’s a f****** sequel! It’s so bad you didn’t even know about it!
16
SweaterSteve1966 Mar 29, 2026 +114
Boondock Saints 2. Watched it in horror and the family agreed we would never bring it up again.
114
ChessClubChimp Mar 29, 2026 +24
Legit thought I had been gaslit when I was searching for literally anyone else with this answer, such a shit movie
24
Horndave Mar 29, 2026 +10
The documentary called Overnight is pretty eye opening about the writer/director of the movie. Maybe the most up-his-own-ass person on the planet. He makes Tarantino look tame.
10
Deathmonger1911 Mar 29, 2026 +44
Starship Troopers 2 & 3, I can't even describe how they suck. I've tried watching them more than once, but my attention was always wandering to something else
44
neo_sporin Mar 29, 2026 +13
3 was an improvement from 2 and at least after like it was in the same universe. Still bad but an attempt was made. 2 was just The Thing and add some bugs at the beginning and end and claim it’s all related
13

20
Electronic_Sun6075 Mar 29, 2026 +47
I called into a radio show and won tickets for this on opening night. I surprised my older brother with them and we went, and we were fuckin' pumped. When Johnny Cage died we looked at each other in disbelief, and it was all downhill from there. I do plan to rewatch it this week, before the new MK2. We are HUGE Karl Urban fans and can't wait to see his take on JC.
47
Hydra_Master Mar 29, 2026 +11
You know it's going to be bad when the fan favorite from the previous installment goes "F*** this, kill me off in the first scene".

Not even that, it was a "I'm not going to do this, so kill a guy who vaguely looks like me off in the first scene"

My brother, bestie, and I did SO many chores to pay to go to this. We could not have been more angry and disappointed.

Ah yes, Coming 2 America. The sequel that tries to spread empowering messages about gender equality after it starts with Eddie Murphy getting raped, because it's not r*** when the rapist is a woman and also it's funny when the victim is male.

This time the iceberg is chasing the ship, no joke. I mean producing any kind of awareness for global warming is based but the movie is just utter trash.

DemotivatedTurtle Mar 29, 2026 +10
Ah yes, the movie where a woman is bleeding to death and they stop the bleeding with a credit card. Peak realistic cinema.

There are two types of people in this world. People that think Highlander 2 is the answer to this question and people that have not seen Highlander 2.

As a theme park enthusiast, the *idea* of Jurassic World as a resurgent modern day theme park and tourist attraction was pretty creatively interesting. But like, going back to watch that movie I pretty much only want to see the parts where they show those things like the Mosasaurus show or the Dino petting zoo, and the rest of it I could give two shits about.

I like 3. It was one of the first pg13 movies I ever got to see in theaters, so it has some nostalgia for me.

I get what you mean. Part 1 had real characters. You cared about their backdoors and the guys who penetrated them. Part 2 was more of the same, but without the heart.

The most recent Matrix movie (which I refuse to remember the name of) is quite arguably the worst sequel I've ever seen. It genuinely made me angry after watching it.
51
bjankles Mar 29, 2026 +12
The most charitable interpretation I see of this movie is that it was bad on purpose, which… mission accomplished? The world of the matrix is so rich that I think there are plenty of great stories to tell. It sucks that its creators seem only to resent that fact and would rather salt the earth.

TheDrunkDetective Mar 29, 2026 +8
Yeah I don't get how that was supposed to make us feel good about it. Oh you made the movie shit on purpose to piss off the producers? K, cool I guess? Even Keanu couldn't bother cutting his hair, god forbid it affects his John Wick schedule or something.

The Rise of Skywalker: from the magical return of Palpatine to the magical force healing power to the magical knife that led the way to the magical pyramid thing that pointed the way to the magical place with the millions of magically constructed fleet of star destroyers to the magical defeat of all of them by doing that exact one thing. What a complete waste of a franchise. Edit: And Space Horses running on the outside of a star destroyer. WTF.

Caddyshack 2. The original is a classic microcosm of early-80s comedy with so many of the greats of that era: Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, even Rodney freakin' Dangerfield. The godawful sequel has none of those guys except Chase (and he's in the movie for all of twenty minutes). Instead you get the annoying Jackie Mason mumbling his way through terrible shtick and Dan Ackroyd trying to mirror Bill Murray's character and failing miserably. The one (count them, *one*) saving grace in that film is Randy Quaid playing Mason's insane lawyer.

Leonard Part 6. It was so bad they never even made the first 5.
