The constant low-grade anxiety of forgetting something crucial, like your passport, even though you checked it six times already.

Bynming Mar 28, 2026 +1
Yep..same here. Doubt I'll ever get over it or used to it

Flying.
12
bluev0lta Mar 28, 2026 +10
So much. I think flying itself is objectively one of the coolest things ever, but the entire process of getting to the airport/security/crowds/being in a tight space full of people on a plane is awful!

Mr_Witchetty_Man Mar 28, 2026 +2
I just don't like flying. I'm flying in a couple of weeks so that's going to be fun.
2
GirlinMichigan Mar 28, 2026 +2
Perfectly said.

AndrewHinds67 Mar 28, 2026 +1
It's the security that I hate. Duty Free shopping is very overrated; a lot of stuff costs far more than the high street.

Appropriate_Sky_6571 Mar 28, 2026 +5
I hate it so much. The cramped seats. The overheated air. The annoying other passengers, especially the ones that constantly cough. The crying baby. The price gouging for decent seats and/or amenities. And just the grimy feeling of the airports and airplanes. I hate it all

ominous-canadian Mar 28, 2026 +12
For some strange reason I can never actually explain - other tourists.
12
nikkesen Mar 28, 2026 +7
It's simple really. Other tourists suck. They're in the way and they're not minding their own business. Like Susan you took the f****** photo now move out of the way so the rest of us can get our shots.

I am with you on hating it all.

Packing. Unpacking.

Hearing the announcements for certain people to board the plane, yet everyone stands up and rushes forward Or you know crashing or whatever

That first day you are in an exciting new city, but you are jet lagged as hell and can't really enjoy it. Also your AirBnb isn't available til 4 PM. I've nodded off on too many museum benches in my life. Best start to a trip is when you can take a nap upon arrival, and then all you try to do day one is go to a nice dinner and maybe walk around a little.

pcl8888 Mar 28, 2026 +3
Yeah, agreed, especially if it’s a long trip. I know traveling is expensive but I’ve never understood people who spend all that money just to then pressure themselves into packing as many activities as humanly possible into the trip from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. Let’s say I’m going on a trip to Italy for example, and it’s an international trip with a long flight. Once I arrive and check into wherever I’m staying, I’m probably gonna be more interested in grabbing a shower and then enjoying a cocktail or a coffee or something than I am in dropping the bags immediately inside the door to the room and then racing off to the first thing on some itinerary. The dreaded itinerary, it so often starts as a list of things people want to see and do but somehow morphs into a schedule people feel a weird need to be beholden to. Personally I’d much rather come home from my trip with stories and feelings of *how much I enjoyed everything we did* than *how many things we ‘got done.’*

Always best to book somewhere with luggage storage if your flights don't line up with check-in or checkout times

Plane seats bc I’m 6’7
5
Mouse-Direct Mar 28, 2026 +2
Flew to Vegas a few months ago and there was a guy on the plane who was 6’5”+. He asked to sit in an exit row and the flight attendant made it happen, but she complained about it the whole time. That he knew he was super tall and should have booked a better seat, paid for a better seat, blah blah. And I was thinking “Lady, we have no idea what this man’s circumstances are. Maybe he can only afford basic coach. Maybe he’s flying last minute due to an emergency and took what he could get. He asked politely. Damn.” Meanwhile I’m 5’0” and my legs get tired from dangling.

Travel is my favorite thing to do but I hate the actual journey of getting to my destination. Like Japan is my fave but I could do without the 20 hour plane journey

InternationalPlan121 Mar 28, 2026 +3
The lines, the high ticket prices, the cramped seats. Or if driving the traffic
3
Glass_Step_6858 Mar 28, 2026 +3
The TSA pat down. Nothing says 'welcome to vacation' like a strangers hands in places your last date didn't even go.

Commuting, a car or anything that needs to go around.
3
AcrobaticBear900 Mar 28, 2026 +2
I hate checking bags but it’s a necessity for international travel.
2
uggghhhggghhh Mar 28, 2026 +1
I’ve literally never had a problem with a checked bag. Is it really that common? Seems like one of those things everyone loves to complain about but isn’t actually that big of a problem

Affectionate_Land317 Mar 28, 2026
Newp I go for about a month with my tiny backpack and it's the best way

PracticalAd313 Mar 28, 2026 +2
Showering in hotel is one of the most inconvenient and awkward things. It’s not like it’s inconvenient by itself but you just got used to your own bathroom and all movements already polished to perfection there

Paying for it.
2
wanderingstorm Mar 28, 2026 +2
Cost mostly. Also actual *travel* \- I live about 1 1/2 hours from the closest airport so it's a whole day of get to airport, check in, get on flight, fly, travel to hotel, check in, etc. It's exhausting.
2
MsKrueger Mar 28, 2026 +2
I live about 15 minutes from my local airport. I absolutely dread the day I move because I know this has spoiled me for life.
2
GirlinMichigan Mar 28, 2026 +1
I have always made living within 30 minutes a requirement for where I move. So far I have been extremely successful in doing so. It makes traveling so much easier.
1
GentleDreamWorld Mar 28, 2026 +2
I just don’t like traveling in general. I like staying in one place/area, at least at this time in my life. Either way even if I wanted to travel I don’t have the money haha
2
Own_Win3330 Mar 28, 2026 +2
Being uncomfortable on the plane. Dealing with annoying people at the airport. Getting up early for my AM flight. But then I end up loving my trips upon my return home!
2
literanch Mar 28, 2026 +2
Air travel is frustrating from start to finish
2
Fast_Snail45 Mar 28, 2026 +2
The traveling part. At least once a week I wish for teleportation.
2
nowhereman136 Mar 28, 2026 +2
The cost. Even when it's c****, eventually the money runs out Aside from that, flying kinda sucks
2
vinicitus Mar 28, 2026 +2
Having to work in between trips
2
Bland_cracker Mar 28, 2026 +1
I really dont like heights. Or overpaying for everything. Also I seem to have alot of amazing luck with my neighbors on flights. I remeber a flight from D.C. to Seattle where this lady kept falling alseep on me. I was touched that she felt that safe around me, oh wait, that was just her head on my shoulder. And there is never enough leg room.

Crowds
1
Western_Temporary170 Mar 28, 2026 +1
The traveling part. The waiting around in airports or rides to and from the hotel. Its rarely straight forward and if you have a late departure can be a pain if the hotel wont let you leave your stuff there, though these days I tend to go jack reacher style and buy clothes when im out there and discard old ones.

I have very bad anxiety when I travel so I usually cant eat, sleep, or shit until I get home.
1
Temporary-Age1948 Mar 28, 2026 +1
The stuffiness and general ick I get on airplanes. I can deal with the waiting and lack of sleep, running to catch this or that, but I hate sitting in that recycled air environment for hours upon hours.

When i travel its cause i need a break from routine, and when i come back its cause im craving routine

Sigao Mar 28, 2026 +1
It's either security checkpoints where I know I'll be fine but don't want to hold up the people behind me so I feel like I have to rush. Or when you have a connecting flight and it's super close on time, but everyone disregards the flight attendant saying to let people who need to make connecting flights out first and just get up and crowd the aisle.

Long flights. It gets very uncomfortable when you sit in a upright position for more than a few hours

Hotels. Something just feels *off* about not sleeping at home.

Being away from home.. which is sort of the point of travelling, but when i travel i genuinely miss being at home. Now and then I appreciate home more because of travelling but usually when travelling i just miss home.

The traveling part

Ob1cannobody Mar 28, 2026 +1
It could take up half a week end. It's why I don't do weekends., Sunday to Tuesdays and a short week at work after!
1
Aachaa Mar 28, 2026 +1
Having to eat out for practically every meal. Not even due to the expense, just the need to coordinate where and what we’re going to eat 2 to 3 times every single day. Food can be a highlight of traveling, but it can be a bit of a chore too. I’ll spring for a decent continental breakfast every time if it means that I don’t have to think about at least one meal each day.

going home
1
mitchdwx Mar 28, 2026 +1
Delays at the airport. Especially when it’s due to bad weather so the airlines have to scramble to reschedule everything. I had a flight get moved from 7 pm, then to 1 am, then back to 9 pm last year. That was a very stressful couple of hours since I wasn’t going to make my ride home stay up that late.
1
Mouse-Direct Mar 28, 2026 +1
I adore traveling but I hate the aggravation of flying. The officiousness of the airport, the assumption that everyone is a smuggler, the overselling of flights, getting bumped, the uncomfortable seating on most flights, the terrible flight bathrooms, the way my ears hurt on every descent, the way everyone in the rail stands up when the plane lands — it’s all awful. Otherwise I enjoy everything about traveling. Heading to Paris with the fam May 21!

Travellers with no social decency.

Not having enough tsa agents to make flights
1
L0st-137 Mar 28, 2026 +1
I miss my bed and my bathroom. I can't ever sleep so the entire time I'm tired. I have a sensitive stomach so Im always worried about what I'm going to eat and if it's going to mess with me and how far am I from where we're staying in case my stomach does act up. That I should be getting more out of the experience and a lot of times I'm just not and I'm counting the days to get home.

Germs everywhere, no matter what you do.
1
buickmackane71360 Mar 28, 2026 +1
People who recline seats on airplanes. Seats are too close together nowadays. It's just not viable or considerate any more. I'm between knee replacement surgeries and have let out some loud howls when someone slams their seat back on my knees and my tray table goes straight into my stomach. Just don't do it.
1
Adddicus Mar 28, 2026 +1
TSA and their exasperating time-consuming security theater.
1
Humble-Usual7038 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Influencers. People that think their hugemongeous backpacks are carry-ons.  People dressed and geared up like they're climbing Mt. Everest - just to walk to the coffee shop and look at old churches.
1
Reclaimer_Saln Mar 28, 2026 +1
People act like it's something hard and stressful. Fairly, for many people it is. But is it \*that\* bad? I may just be low-maintenance but I see it as a blessing that travel is possible at all, and people ought to be more appreciative of the ability
1
Salty-Value8837 Mar 28, 2026 +1
The traveling part of it, l enjoy being at my destinations but hate flying or driving long distances.

Logistics. I cannot relax until I get to my destination. Which means I’m constantly on guard the whole way through
1
FlyingSloth947 Mar 28, 2026 +1
the crowds at the airport are always the worst
1
AndrewHinds67 Mar 28, 2026 +1
For me it's airport security. Having to take my stuff out of my rucksack and put it through an X-ray machine. When I'm on the plane, it's when some selfish t*** in front of me decides to recline their seat into my face. Being on a plane/train with noisy kids. Of course, travelling also means driving my own car, so I hate traffic jams too.
