It's one of the most striking examples of how brain biology directly translates into emotions, behavior, and perception of reality. Borderline personality isn't about a "difficult personality," but rather about real differences in the functioning of emotion-regulating systems, primarily the amygdala, which overreacts, and the prefrontal cortex, which isn't always able to inhibit this response. This causes emotions to emerge more quickly, be more intense, and be more difficult to suppress than in the average person. Furthermore, the serotonin and dopamine systems are often unstable, contributing to impulsivity, a sense of emptiness, and rapid mood swings.

What are some signs many people don't know about? Not pop psychology traits
I'm really curious

I can attest to that... You're basically just in the constant suicidal state....

For the majority of people it will be what Google search tells them.

One of the most debilitating things I deal with. I don’t even feel like a person half the time. I react in ways I shouldn’t and my emotions feel like they’re turned up to the max

It f****** sucks. It is like bipolar but more intense, shifting mood multiple times a day, every day. Trying to talk yourself down from believing something extreme like “they hate me, I should d1e” it feels like everything is just more intense than everyone else seems to be reacting. I constantly ask if my experience makes sense because my reactions are so big and different from my peers. I don’t know how people live and live well. I’ve been on the whole spectrum of psych meds, been diagnosed with just about every label for them to change their mind and say actually this is just X. I think it is BPD, came to that conclusion after talking with someone who is DEFINITELY BPD and we share all the same symptoms but to slightly different degrees; when I try to get Dr confirmation they just agree to anything you say. Doctors are scared of you. It is like the worst diagnosis to actually have put in your chart as there is a lot of medical discrimination too. It’s like living as a hurt animal reacting all the time and not being able to explain it
