Love, to me, is showing up for someone consistently, caring deeply for their well-being, and accepting them fully, even when it’s messy or inconvenient. It’s less about grand gestures and more about steady presence and understanding.

Meaning it, effectively, doesn't exist.

Love is when someone makes the world feel a little less heavy, and you realize you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Its just wanting them to be happy, plain and simple.

Actually caring about someone and wanting the best for them. Not signing a mutual agreement to have sex every few days (aka marriage)

On a practical what-i-learned-in-therapy side, love is when your core values/goals match and your partner is active in those values and supportive in you reaching your goals. As much as love is a feeling, I think if goals/values dont match up you will end up in a much harder, often unsatisfactory relationship. This has helped me a lot in knowing when its time to end a relationship.

Life. Love is ultimately an expression of life. Life is most complex and wonderful, yet, love is one of its most important expressions.

M. Scott Peck defined love as "the will to extend oneself to nurture one's own or another's spiritual growth." I've recently fallen in love with someone, and I must say that this is the greatest definition I've seen. I know the wording sounds a little religious or something, but there's way more to it and he goes into how in his books. Bell Hooks does too.

There are different kinds of love. The Greeks had, I think, four different types: love for friends (philos), love for marriage partners (eros), love for family (storge), and unconditional love, as of God (agape). Each one is valuable in its proper place. Unconditional love is the highest form.

Love is basically choosing someone’s quirks over everyone else’s chaos and still wanting to share snacks with them.

Love is basing your identity on relationship with everything else rather than inside you. Who you are becomes a function of the role you perform across people. You as a son as a husband etc.

Love is choosing someone again and again, even when it’s not effortless. It’s care, respect, and showing up consistently, not just a feeling but a decision you keep making.

When you love somebody you choose them every day. It’s not just a feeling but a consistent chose.

I hate to say this... but love is a construct. Most people confuse infatuation with love. When you're "In love", your really just in the infatuation stage of a relationship. That fades over time and then the real work begins. Love is a daily decision to continue forward. It doesnt just exist. It has to be nurtured, allowed to grow, pruned sometimes, corrected sometimes. Love is deciding winning this particular fight isnt worth the relationship. Love is agreeing things suck right now, but if we work together, we will get through it. Maybe I need to take on more of the load so you can recoup. Maybe I'm sick, but I have to soldier through it. Maybe I like this job, but it's not what's best for US, so I find something I like better. Love is EVERY F****** DAY.

Love is understanding someone deeply and accepting them without trying to change them

Love is doing everything you can to help those around you. Family, friends… it can be as simple as being there for them to vent or making someone a meal, or just caring.

Pouring your life out and into theirs without the expectation of return. Desiring their best while denying yours. If both do it their lives would be so intertwined that it would be impossible to separate them.

Its a comfortable fantasy. Nice to think about, but you'll fall off a cliff if you chase it. That's when it becomes delusion.
