Honestly, I think it’s just snacks, naps, and trying not to take everything too seriously.

“The meaning of life is to live a life with meaning”
4
CromulentForester163 Apr 1, 2026 +4
Whatever you consider to be important. Life just sort of exists, there's no inherent "meaning" to it. Some people find joy and freedom in that, others get depressed.

I think the closest thing we have to objective meaning as a collective, intelligent species is to conquer the final frontier, in all domains of science.

We're just species coexisting with other species on a rock in space. I think human consciousness was a tragic misstep in evolution. We're just a bunch of cells proliferating and differentiating until when all stops and we die

Survival of the species. Nothing more.

There's no inherent meaning, you have to make it.

You are born, you do a bunch of shit, then you die. The bunch of shit part is up to you. By that I don't mean you have to do something historical or epic just do some shit you like. Odds are extremely high that, no matter what you do, no one in 100 years will know you ever existed.

reproduce. Spread your gene. That's it. There is no further meaning aside the one we human try to ascribe : we philosophize and add meaning to try to avoid the truth that life and the universe have zero meaning. Alternatively if you want something more cheery : 42

42. Obviously. But on a serious note, just finding small things that make you happy and trying to leave people slightly better than you found them.

The word "Meaning of.." is problematic. Like... What's the meaning of yellow? Nothing... People do give it meaning yea, but it does not have a meaning of itself.
1
_-TARTARUS-_ Apr 1, 2026 +1
There isnt a meaning, you're supposed to make your own. My personal 'meaning' is that i want to be remembered for something / immortalised so im trying to write music. Someone who thinks the meaning of life is to help others may become a firefighter or paramedic, and spend as much time as they can doing things for other people. A religious person may try be as pious as possible. The meaning of life is whatever you decide the meaning of life is.

The meaning of life is to leave the world better than you found it through your actions, your influence, and the people you help and interact with.

This is not a good question. It’s not really helpful. What is the meaning of a car? Of a friendship? It doesn’t really make sense. A more productive, helpful question may be “what can I do with my time here that would make me feel that it has been worth it?” Life is full of potential. Pick up the pieces and make something.

Explosivepancake11 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Scientifically? Reproduce. Conceptually? Find happiness and live a while.

I think the meaning of life is just learning how to 'chill' in your own way. My brother Jason taught me this during our annual tradition of watching the All-Accordion Band Finals. For this special occasion, his one job was to make the instant cheesecake. The box instructions said: 'Just mix and chill.' About two hours later, I found the cheesecake sitting warm on the counter, but Jason was sitting on a stool with his head inside the open refrigerator, blissfully letting the cold air wash over him. When I asked what he was doing, he just pointed at the box and said, 'I'm following the directions on the box, the final step. I'm chillin'. The directions say mix and chill. He spent the next hour—while the accordion music blasted through the house—peacefully introducing himself to the pickles and the mustard on the top shelf. To me, that’s it. Life is just a series of instructions we mostly misunderstand, so you might as well find a stool, open the fridge, and say hello to the condiments while the music plays. If you’ve found your version of 'the chill,' you’ve figured it out.

Objectively? None. Personally? Just to try to increase the happiness of myself and those around me. Getting the odd b****** is nice too.

90hex Apr 1, 2026 +1
The universe observes itself through life. The higher the consciousness, the more clearly it can see possibilities, and make better creations.
1
ZappSmithBrannigan Apr 1, 2026 +1
I think "meaning of life" is a category error. Thats not how that word works. Asking what is the inherant meaning of life is like asking what is the inherant running of life. Its a nonsense question. Meaning is something that living beings *engage in*. Its an action. Not a declaration. Its something we *do*. We apply meaning to things that are important to us. Whats meaningful to me is likely irrelevant to you and vice versa.

After decades of life, the "golden rule" always comes to mind. If we truly treat others as we would have them treat us, humanity would prosper.
