I watched Deadwood and Justified back to back and while they are phenomenal show he looked extremely inferior to the supporting cast in both shows.
Especially in Deadwood he picked one facial expression at the beginning of the show and kept using it for the entire 3 seasons regardless of the situation.
He wasn't as bad in justified but still mediocre compared to the rest. Especially in his scenes with Walton Goggins the contrast was glaring.
Outside of these 2 shows I have seen him in the Hitman movie that is basically about and emotionless character which ironically was a great fit for him.
I might be too hard on him but what are your thoughts?
I think he’s amazing and that this is a terrible take 🙏 he’s hilarious in Santa Clarita Diet too

Santa Clarita Diet and The Unicorn really showcased that Oliphant and Goggins are both actors with real range.
Edgy h******* drama and comedy are at polar opposites of the spectrum

Used to watch Justified with my dad. Always thought Rayland was so cool and slick.

Olyphant is amazing in everything. I’ve never seen him sharing the screen with someone else and thought “wow this Tim guy should take a class.”

hopefully this is either bait or it's an account owned by olyphant and he just really needed to hear some positive support today.

It takes a tremendous effort to drum up this rage bait with basically nothing 👏 👏 👏
Listen to him on Conan Obrien needs a friend and you’ll be saved. Otherwise I’m really sad for you.

I'm not gonna says he's a better actor than Walton Goggins but I think saying he's mediocre in justified ain't it because they do a good job of giving different situations to play with.
That show genuinely changed my mind on him because I thought films he was in the 2000s were bad but I really think it's more he doesn't get good material or material that lets him show range often.
Like in deadwood he's character has purpose but he's deliberately less compelling and dynamic than everyone around him because he's very much the straightman.

His last name is the name of a monstrous elephant in DnD. I always think that when I see his name.
Good actor btw.

He's my favorite actor in the recent Alien: Earth series. He plays a "synthetic" (AI in a robot body).
Actors do have a "type", and casting people do hire them because they fit it.

I never really had interest in Justified but Deadwood is a show I've been planning to watch eventually. I've seen him in some movies and shows over the years but I mainly know him for Santa Clarita Diet, where he was great.

*Justified* may not be for you in any case, but I feel I should say that I put off watching it for a long time because people only pitched it to me on the basis of how “badass” Raylan Givens (Olyphant’s character) was.
And yeah, he’s got some very cool moments. But I enjoyed the show so much because he’s far from an untouchable badass. The guy gets routinely beaten up or outmaneuvered or simply made fun of by his coworkers. He consistently makes terrible decisions about his personal and professional life. All of that made me like him and the show a lot more than I thought I would. The antagonists are also excellent, IMHO.

To be honest, I also thought he seemed very flat in Deadwood, but I haven't seen him in much else so I assumed it must just be the character.
