Great list and I agree with your ratings. Suspiria is a movie that stays with me that I think of from time to time;

The film really just got better and better for me, and stylistically I think it’s stunning. The fact that Luca can do Call Me By Your Name and then Suspiria blows my mind.

Call me by your Name ist einer meiner favourites. Ich liebe das Spiel der beiden Protagonisten im Rausch der Gefühle ihre Umwelt auszublenden. Die Kameraführung ist großartig und das Setting passt wunderbar dazu. Aber worum geht es in "Suspiria"?🙈

Watched ATONEMENT in theaters back then. Loved it then. A tragedy!

Damn you crushed it this month with some absolute classics. Atonement at 9.7 is spot on - that beach scene and the whole unreliable narrator twist still mess me up years later. Also really cool seeing Grave of the Fireflies that high up, most people aren't ready for how hard that one hits emotionally but it's genuinely perfect filmmaking.
Wait hold up though, did you actually watch Zootopia 2 and some of these other 2025/2026 films or are those placeholders for stuff you're planning to see? Because if those are real viewings I'm jealous as hell that you got early access to future releases lol. The Accountant getting a sequel makes total sense given how that first one landed, curious how it compares since you rated the original way higher
Gone Girl on rewatch still hitting 9/10 is chef's kiss - that movie gets better every time you catch new details in Rosamund Pike's performance

Atonement absolutely had me in awe. That first half looks like heaven, it’s an absolute masterpiece. While watching I was like why is this not a film I see in Top 4’s and has like a million video essays. Easily the best film I saw this month.
Yeah these are all releases I’ve watched. Zootopia 2 is currently on Disney+.
The Accountant 2 is an ok sequel. Definitely not as good as the first one. It’s more ridiculous and silly, and the story isn’t nearly as interesting. Also, Ben Affleck’s character isn’t consistent with how he acted or sounded in the first one, maybe because he’s on the spectrum he thought changes needed to be made but yeah just a ok film at best I thought.
Gone Girl does get better on rewatch, I feel like there’s so many layers to each line, each scene. Rosamund should have won an Oscar for that performance, still one of the most memorable performances of century. Pretty much love every Fincher film I’ve seen. I think Gone Girl’s premise is such a cliche one but its direction, and its writing completely makes it the best missing person’s thriller I’ve ever seen.

What makes something a 7.2 instead of a 7.3?

If I had to guess, they have 2 or 3 scores they give for a film like for story, acting, cinematography, etc. and then average out the score.

It’s sort of just a feeling. I know I slightly prefer The Wonder to The Iceman.

it's just really stupid.

Don’t see what’s stupid about it. There’s a huge gap between a 8.5 and a 9 to me.

You watch hundreds of movies a year and you’ll find that rating everything only by .5 intervals doesn’t quite express how movies can be so incrementally better or worse than each other. Otherwise than half of a list can be a 7.5/10 and that’s not really much of ranking.

why don't you do 7.45 or 6.96 at this point?
Wouldn't it be better if instead of doing just numbers, you write a small review for each of them?
Watching a movie and then being like " this is a 7.8 movie" is just... , I wanna say the r-slur, but I'll just say ridiculous.

Cause that’s excessive?
I do reviews for my Instagram followers or on LB. Not going to do it on listnook, especially when some films I saw 29 days ago and it’s not fresh in my mind to review it.
Last para is just childish.

WOW that's a sprawling diverse list of movies, good for you man. I pretty much agree with most of your ratings to, but Ghost Rider has to be way lower on that. 1.5 near unwatchable for me. But I admit, I cant Stand Nicholas Cage.

Aha Thank you.
I love Nicolas Cage and maybe that’s why I like Ghost Rider lol. I feel like if you’re well versed in your Ghost Rider lore or source material you probably hate the film also. But yeah I had low expectations and I think I could just have fun with it because of that.

I don’t mind the first 30 minutes or so, but I think the twist to be pretty laughable. Gave me Mike Flanagan vibes and apart from Midnight Mass I don’t like Mike Flanagan.

Grave of the Fireflies at 9.4 and then Ghost Rider at 6.9 in the same month is a psychological profile I have questions about.

😂😂 I just love how dumb and Cage-y Ghost Rider is, also, seeing Ghost Rider riding down a bridge, or up a building, is just an is nice superficial imagery. I think for as bad as the film is, it looks nicer than most superhero films nowadays. It’s bad but fun bad.

If you liked movies like Atonement and Zootopia, here is a small list of my recent picks, do check them out:
The Wild Robot (Netflix) – cute, smart, and surprisingly emotional
Inside Out (Prime) – playful but hits you emotionally
500 Days of Summer – a modern, quirky take on relationships
The Perks of Being a Wallflower – classic feels with a soft, reflective touch
Something Bad is Going to Happen (Netflix) – slow-burn intensity
The Housemaid (Prime) – gripping and darkly emotional
Queen Charlotte (Netflix) – romance with power and drama
The Materialists – nuanced characters and lingering feelings
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – funny, chaotic romance with that “love and heartbreak” energy
Can't wait to hear back from you, tada!
