I get this view that Iran somehow has found the upper hand in some sort of low stakes game with an idiot. It might seem that whoever is in control there is in control and has got a game plan. That’s unlikely to be what is happening- they are in an existential position. You have to put yourself in the shoes of the other side, they are playing all the cards they can play because that is what you do when you are in an actual war. You fight by all means necessary for the long game to play. They arnt sitting around rubbing their hands together thinking what a f*** uo we got them now. They also know that he wants a quick win and the only quick win is to drop a nuke. They also know that their partner might take the opportunity as well to knock the country back 75 years. Before they could even hit a single strategic target the entirety of NATO would likely be on-board to go shut down another "middle east troublemaker".
