What if there was a Scream movie told entirely from Ghostface’s perspective?

Not in a villain origin story where we are meant to sympathize with them, but more like a slow psychological descent where you are inside their head the whole time. You hear the rationalizations, the shifting identity, and the way they justify each call, each chase, and each kill. The tension would not come from “who is Ghostface?” but from how far they are willing to go and whether they will slip up. Imagine scenes where the camera lingers just a second too long after a kill, not on the victim, but on Ghostface breathing behind the mask. Or moments where they are planning calls and testing voices, almost like rehearsing a performance. You would get this eerie overlap between real life and the “movie” they think they are in. Even more interesting, you could still preserve the mystery. Maybe you do not see their face, or maybe their identity is fragmented, like they are losing themselves in the persona. By the end, the reveal is not just who they are, but whether there is anything left of them outside the mask. It would flip the whole formula. Instead of trying to survive the horror, you are trapped inside the mind creating it. Would that ruin what makes Scream fun, or make it even more unsettling?

Check out In a Violent Nature. It's basically what you're describing except for Jason from the Friday the 13th movies.

I'd love it done In a Violent Nature style. We follow the killer(s) see them get into costume, hide the bodies, plan the murders etc. I wish they did this with most slashers now.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

There’s a documentary, Dreams on Spec, that in part profiles a guy writing a screenplay like this. A slasher from the killer’s perspective. I recommend checking it out.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is that movie that person was writing. Great found-footage film that changes perspective halfway through. I saw this movie first before Dreams on Spec and watched the documentary a year later not knowing I knew about one of the films being written.

I’m glad it turned out well, it seemed like the screenwriter was somewhat unhappy with the filming process/changes made to his ideas.

You could ask the people that watched Predator Badlands or played the Predator Concrete Jungle or AvP games. Short answer is that it depends. I think those type of switches work when there is good writing behind it, but there are a ton of horror enthusiasts that hate the idea because it "ruins" the mystique of the character. I personally think you can never put the character back into that bottle after its first reveal, so why not attempt other things?

I would only like that idea if there was another ghostface not working with the main character ghostface and it became a game of finding out who the other killer was while also trying to hide his identity at the same time.

When I saw the opening to Scream VI I was hoping that's what they were doing.

Theres a decent low budget movie about a documentary crew interviewing and following around a serial killer. It's pretty good. Completely forget what the name of the movie but google tells me its [Behind the Mask](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RiJDEZywlw_)
