Someone knocking on your door. Totally normal in the afternoon, absolutely terrifying at 2 a.m.

My dad is a judge, the judges have a rotation of whose on call for a week or month. When he first started the police would just show up to our house randomly at like 1 or 2 in the morning to get warrants signed. It wasn't uncommon for us to have one or two nocturnal visitors a week when he was on call. Now they are able to call and do everything on the phone and email.

A phone call of your mum.
Between 8 am and 8 pm: likely to be about something the cat did.
Before and after: likely to be about an emergency.

I feel like this when the call comes from my dad's phone as they normally phone from my mums. Everytime it happens I'm like mums dead and my heart races and then it's usually something trivial

Same!
Unless it's right before an ice hockey match. Then it's my dad asking if we're watching it.

You’re sweating, your heart is pounding and your legs feel like rubber- because you just finished ten miles on a treadmill. If you woke up at 2am like that, you’d be calling 911.

Hearing a cough outside your house, especially when your street is usually quiet during that time.
