Saw Project Hail Mary at the imax. It was visually breathtaking. Beautiful movie.

I’m so glad I took the train 7 hours to see it in IMAX!

Wait, what?

Your nearest imax is seven hours away, question?

Watched The Green Mile for the first time. Knew it was a King book but had no clue about the supernatural element before watching. Enjoyed it a great amount.

Could not breathe in the theater during the Hangover scene. Such a fun film. No idea how they pulled it off, really a miracle of a movie.

That was my reaction but to the parachuting scene. The mic cutting in and out had me in hysterics both times I saw it

Do I need to watch the show and/or web series to get the movie? I've seen neither so wondering how much of a time commitment I'm looking at here.

brandonchristensen Mar 30, 2026 +6
Nope. It sets it up in the first 5 minutes. I’m sure there’s lots of Easter eggs if you do.  My suggestion is watch it blind. Then watch the show. Then watch the movie again.  Then repeat.

Thanks. I've heard good things about both but just didn't want to invest time in yet another show right now. I'll try to watch it this week.

I saw this at a film festival a few months back and Matt and Jay were there and did a brief Q&A. I knew absolutely nothing about them prior to seeing the movie and only went to it on a whim really but my God am I so happy I did. I was so excited when I could finally see it again in theaters

So bummed I missed this in theaters (my local theater wasn’t playing it sadly)

Weapons. Perfectly paced. Perfect ending. Benedict Wong’s perfect face.

Where has this feature been? Ive missed it its a great way to find random films to watch Anyway my answer is air force one. Been on a nineties film kick and this is a treat, hadnt seen before. Fun silly concept fairly well done, essentially die hard but the dieharder is the president

Probably *sigh* Mercy. I didn't watch many movies so it's between that and Black Phone 2. I somewhat enjoyed the first half actually with Pratt trying to figure out who killed his wife. I was actually wondering why everyone hated it...then once the AI started becoming "more human" it went way way way (way) downhill. Hopefully I watch better movies this week.

andy_is_awesome Apr 1, 2026 +1
Same, humanizing the AI was a huge mistake. It killed everything the movie was building.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly I don't have alot of experience with westerns so I figured I would start out with this trilogy. The other two were good but this one was just fantastic. The characters, the scale of it, the action, and the ending. It was all really good. Tad bit long but that's okay. And of course I can't fail to mention the incredible score.

Beauty and the Beast. I havent watched it in decades and forgot how GORGEOUS the animation is and wowza for the songs. It was a real treat

Ooh I haven't watched this in a minute! Might have to get cozy with a hot chocolate and watch soon!

I saw Incendies for the first time! Not sure if I fully dug the first half of the movie, but everything after >!the bus shooting!< was incredibly engaging. Not a huge Villeneuve fan, but this one is probably my favorite of his (including Dune pt 2).

**Phantom Thread** — it was beautiful. I loved the sounds and the score. I loved the performances. The movie has this texture to it because of how it’s shot and edited and how it sounds. More than the plot or the story or anything like that I was mesmerised by the craft itself. https://www.listnook.com/r/TrueFilm/s/UjYvVu3vwU

Streets of Fire I've been bopping to the soundtrack since I saw it.

Stand By Me (1986) Stand By Me was playing in the theater near me for its 40th anniversary. My mum had never seen it before so I took her to go see it for her birthday. It’s still a classic even after all this time. It’s such a tightly paced adventure story, and the message is universal and relatable after all this time. I’ve seen the movie countless times, and I still get choked up at the end >!when they find the body and Gordie breaks down crying.!< You truly never know when the last time it is you’ll hang out with your childhood friends, when that last sleepover will be or that last time playing outside. And I think that this movie is the best encapsulation of that feeling. >!When Gordie sees the deer on the train tracks, he knows that that was the last time the four of them will sleep together at a sleepover!<. It’s such a nostalgic movie and it’s so incredibly relatable, because everyone goes through those feelings at some point in their life

Project Hail Mary in IMAX. Loved the book and loved that the spirit of the book remained intact, and my wife, who had never read the book, said it was one of the best films she's seen in a theater in years. Folks behind me would audibly gasp during some tense moments in the film. During a moment where the film is absolutely silent, you could have heard a pin drop in the theater (and it was also one of the more completely full theaters I've seen anything in for a long time). I know I won't have time to go see it again in the theater but look foward to getting it once it releases on streaming or (hopefully) a physical release. It's so corny to say, but PHM is a movie that, depending on how old you are lol, will remind you why you liked seeing movies in a move theater. I live near-ish enough to an IMAX screen that I went for it and was not disappointed, but it would be a great experience on any screen.

Big Fish (2003) I have loved this one for a while, rewatched it on a tough anniversary and it was beautiful, entertaining, and cathartic. It's high on my list of 'films that get away with a lot in the middle because they land the plane' but I gotta tell you, they *land the plane*. One of my favorite endings to a film and a pleasant one to revisit in general.

I watched They Will Kill You in theaters. Trailers give some away but there's a lot more at play than they let on. The direction and editing was fantastic and really elevated the action. I'm excited to see what the director does next.

The Secret Agent by Kleber Filho Just really beautifully shot and such an intriguing mystery, to the viewer, that unwinds. It felt like a faster paced Apichatpong movie. I'm still catching up on some of the Oscar nominees from this past season. Very impressed with it though, I'm not surprised it's so heavily lauded. Always kind of orbiting and approaching the elephant in the room from a different angle for so long.

**The Death Of Stalin**. It's a smart and savvy political satire that utterly nails its themes and it so expansive and true that it constantly feels like an indictment of Trump's vile, venal, ugly, draconian, dangerous administration. It's also actually horribly funny.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948). Awesome paranoia thriller, one of Humphrey Bogart’s best performances.

You’re Next (2011) 4/10 There were some aspects that I genuinely enjoyed, like >! the interaction between Felix and Zee when she says he never wants to do anything adventurous, and he says that’s not true and she says “then f*ck me next to your dead mom”, and he says “I don’t think that’s a fair characterization.” 🤣!< Or when >! the one attacker looks through the window and sees a board with nails in it, scoffing at how her little trap was wasted on him, only to step on the other board with nails in it that she had put closer to the window out of his view !< Very clever. But there were a lot of missed opportunities for character development and tightening the plot. The villains ultimately fail because >!none of them brought a gun !< And it’s another classic example of >!one woman defeating five men in combat due to her exceptional abilities that she received off screen!<

Not a movie but I watched Hal and Harper, written and directed by Cooper Raiff, who also played Hal. Really enjoyed it, have liked his other stuff (Shithouse, Cha Cha Real Smooth). About two codependent siblings who have to grow up too fast due to several factors. Thought Lili Reinhart did a standout job as Harper. 8.5/10. Love Letters (2025) - film about two women expecting their first child and how it affects both the pregnant partner, the nonpregnant partner, their families, etc... Good film, really explores the difficulties and challenges of lesbian motherhood, both emotionally as well as legally, as the movie takes place shortly after France legalized same sex marriage. 8.5/10 The Love That Remains (2025) - a year in the life of a family where the parents are getting separated. Was okay, thought the kids were funny. 6/10

"I swear" This movie Is wonderful in every possible way and an emotional roller coaster at the same time. I don't want to spoil anything, but at some scenes I just bursted out laughing while watching it alone. There's probably only a handful of movies ever done that to me. Hands down #1 for 2026 for me (I know it's from 25 but here it's not even out yet)

Sophie's Choice (1982) \- Meryl Streep's Oscar-winning performance was phenomenal. I'm not big fan of hers, but that performance was damned impressive! Kevin Kline's film debut was impressive, too. The story is good, strong, moves well, but my main reason for thinking it is a great movie is the acting.

Saw the Big Sleep (1946) with Humphrey Bogart

The Last Duel Love a good *Rashomon*\-style shifting perspective movie, and this one did it well. Beautiful medieval score and on-location cinematography. Felt the writing to be a bit heavy-handed in the back half, but the characterization was mostly good. Loved the hairstyles. It's a shame nobody saw this in theaters (myself included).

Frankenstein 2025, I went into it without expectations and I was pleasantly surprised, great acting! Definitely put me in my feels. Also rewatched Misery with Kathy Bates of course, and she just freaking kills it everytime. Always a good one to go back to!
