In about 1999 I was working as a carpenter framing houses. I was about 24, the foreman was about 23 and one the other kids was about 20. The foreman would just yell at the younger dudes and berate them. He never did to me because he knew I wouldn't put up with it cause I could have kicked his ass. One day we were sheeting the roof of a two story house and the foreman was just reading this kid off. There was a big extension ladder tied off to the roof that was the only way up or down. The younger kid walked over to the ladder and the foreman kept yelling at him. Kid untied the ladder from the roof, quickly climbed down and pushed the ladder over. The rest of us were stuck on the roof watching him. He walked over to the foremans truck and yelled up at the foreman "Hey Steve! F*** you now this is happening!" Opened Steve's truck door, pissed all over the front seat, gave Steve the finger hopped in his car and drove off while we were all stuck on the roof. This was before anyone had a cellphone. We were stuck on the roof for about two hours until we could flag down some other guys who were building near us to put the ladder back up. F****** awesome, Steve learned a hard lesson about teaching people as opposed to yelling at people. Never saw that kid again, think about him often.

Not really the same but reminded me of a story my husband told me. Working construction years ago and a guy was digging with a bobcat or something and foremen comes by and tells him there are lines under him and he needed to dig it by hand. Dude nodded, said yes sir and immediately went back to using the bobcat when the foremen left the area. Couple minutes later husband hears a clank and a hiss and looks up and watches the guy turn off the bobcat, put his hard hat on the seat, walk to his truck and drive off lmfao.

I was a temp making low pay for a Desktop IT job and had just got a new job paying double what I was making.
I was in charge of a Windows 10 to Windows 11 conversion and in a meeting talking about the next steps. I just finished 300 computers in 3 months and they were talking about me taking over another 400 to do in 5 months since the last group of people weren’t working fast enough.
As soon as they made all the plans and told me the work load, I asked to be full time and have a pay raise. They told me, “At the end of the 5 months if you perform well we will consider it.” I told them, “Then I am not willing to do the job anymore.” And walked out and never returned.

Not legendary in the sense you are asking but we still talk about it years later. Local delivery driver worked for the company for a few weeks. One day just never shows back up at the end of the day. Other employees do a bit of looking around and find the company van in an empty lot like half a mile away. Front seat absolutely covered in shit.
Poor guy shit himself and just decided, I'm not dealing with that. Made no attempt to clean it up or return the van, just took off. Never collected his last paycheck or anything, just disappeared lol.

I came in 20 min early and the manager was "oh good you are here go ahead and take your break. " and I said "Im here early and I haven't even clocked in yet" so she says "Ok clock in and then clock out and take you break we're gonna be busy tonight." So I said "thats not a break thats illegal" "Don't argue with me!"
So I clocked in. Made a huge meal for myself. Didn't clock out. And went home.
I was supposed to be doing all the prep in-between dishes and what not. They didn't realize I wasn't there for hours, until they realized nothing was prepared all the food was still frozen and the dishes were dirty in the sink.
They were super f****** pissed it was great.

Buddy who worked at the office I used to work at;
He had out in 80 hours a week, when his mom died he scaled back to "only" 60 hours, and started getting bad performance reviews (mind you, 40 hours is considered full time). Around the time they were getting ready to ~~spring the surprise layoffs on everyone~~ announce their exciting new epic growth strategy, he had told a few people he was thinking of putting in his retirement. Few days before Rich put on his lifts and fake tear in his eye for the floor show, one of the few people in HR people liked was constantly pestering him "you really should put in your retirement" (she couldn't actually tell people they were about to basically gut the local office here). He still gets insurance (albeit very, very shitty insurance) as part of his retirement, which pays for his HIV treatment

So... took a damaged McCain Deep and delicious cake (supposed to be thrown out). Ate it in her office .. on camera... when she was on the floor. Let basically a Fuk You note written on her note pad...

I worked at a place with 2 crews working 4 days a week, everyone worked Wednesday. 1 crew had 5 people, my crew had 4. They complained a lot about to much work. There were 9 kilns a week, a job that took 4 hours, then 5 hours of cleaning. We worked 10 hour days. We did 5 kilns a week, they did 4, due to all their complaining. We had a person quit on our crew, they weren't replaced. A year later they had someone quit their crew, not replaced. 6 months later they had another person quit, but gave 3 months notice, they didn't replace them. Now we are 2 crews of 3. They let a girl on my crew go on holidays, and the other guy went to his doctor and got stress leave.
I had worked on a tour for all our biggest clients and a big lunch for a year. Had tents there, all sorts of stuff. I got cut out and was given all the hard jobs, with the assurance someone would take over and finish. They didn't. I showed up by myself the next day, ready to do a job that takes 2 people 10 hours, while finishing 5 hours of work from the day before. The guy wanting to work overtime on the other crew showed up an hour late. I told him I was pissed off because he didn't take over the job he was supposed to. He told me they did it on purpose cause I had "a bad attitude". For a year and a half, 3 of us did more difficult jobs that the 4 of them, while they complained about us being lazy, and then working too hard the entire time. The "production supervisor" was their supervisor, he was in charge of both crews. Our supervisor was in charge of the product itself. They were complaining about us on days they weren't there, then leaving us half their shit at the end of the week, when we continually got everything done. We never complained, they complained constantly. Since their supervisor was there everyday with them and not us, he just listened to what they had to say, and gave us shit every day. There was no way to actually explain that we were basically doing double the labor, they wouldnt listen, just gave us shit.
Finally, on the day that they told me they screwed me on purpose, I quit, right there and then, with a $50,000 dollar job sitting there, needing 2 people to do it. The supervisors had to do it for the first time in years. And they were left with a 0 man crew for 2 days. The other crew had to come in, and probably didn't get a day off for a week or 2 working 10 hour days. They all text me hateful shit.
A: they could have f****** hired someone to replace the person that gave 3 months notice.
B: they could have done their fair share of work and not talked shit about us the entire time.
After I left, that crew stayed together, and the crew I left has just constantly rotated through new employees for years. The supervisors are fucked, cause it's always new employees. It was a difficult job that required a lot of skill and energy, their product has been getting fucked up constantly. They still don't see what that having a favourite crew and screwing the other crew is completely shooting themselves in the foot.
I should mention. I was loved when I started there, and I started on their A crew. They told me I was the best guy and put me on the other crew to "get them up to snuff". I was stupid and believed they were useless too. Within 6 months, with the other crew, their "best guy" and "hardest worker" was now lazy and not doing enough.

This is the biggest problem with 24/7 or working "back to back" or next shift taking over in a 16 hour job. Next person just complains about the last person, unnecessary politics. Or in your case, one shift complains whilst putting in below minimum and next shift gets on with it but deals with bull.

On my first day of work at a very popular steak house chain, a bartender was talking to me and showing me the ropes. Turns out it was his last day there after several years and he was very stoked to be getting out. He was well liked amongst the staff there, who was sad to see him leave, but he told us he a big surprise for us all before he bounced.
A little back story, one of the managers there was incredibly insufferable (was able to corroborate after many years on the job there) and she was particularly shitty to the previously mentioned bartender for whatever reason, but it was well known amongst the staff. She somehow was able to make every single person there miserable at some point and was just generally an unhappy person.
So as the bartender was closing out his duties, he was making his rounds to everyone saying good bye, then right at peak dinner rush, he goes to said manager and says a long sweet “bury the hatchet” kind of farewell to her which seemed to work as she was smiling during the end of it. He then proceeds to dump an entire beer stein of beer ontop of her head.
It turns out through the shift, he had been collecting remaining backwash from in finished beers and collecting it in that very glass (this was at least a liter of volume). He let her know that too as she was drenched and seething with rage, in front of the entire shocked staff and dining clientele.
Dude laughs and sprints out the side ToGo door of the restaurant (where I was currently working) and she was so furious she picks up the glass and throws it at him across the restaurant. She missed by like 10 feet and the glass basically explodes over a 6 top of people that was eating their dinner.
Nobody could believe what they just saw. He was talked about basically on a weekly basis for the years I continued to work there. To this day this was the most epic shit I’ve ever seen.

Call center doing tech support.
The place was famous for waiting till the last minute before denying someone days off. People would have to call in sick for funerals, birthdays, exams. It was shit.
So someone finally snapped.
He had a vacation to Mexico with a bunch of his friends that was planned 6 or more months in advance. It came down to 2 weeks before he was leaving and they approved 90% of it denying two separate days right in the middle.
He just stood up next me and yelled "what the mother f****** f*** is this bullshit!". Then he grabbed his bag, stormed over to the emergency exit, which was a bit of a ways away, then he kicked the door open so the alarm started going off. He didn't go out that door though. Instead he slowly walked out the main entrance.
Before he left he flipped off a couple of the stunned floor supervisors and screamed "I'm a f****** person not a god damn number!!!"
It was pretty epic.

Not quite a quitting, but legendary,
An officer manger with 40 years of service, stood up at 4.55pm on a Friday, and said...
"Well, that's it. This is my last day in the job, and I retire at 5.00. Bob X takes over from me, and yes, it's all been cleared with him and HR. No offense, but I hate the usual ceremony involved, so I just want to say that it's been a delight, sometimes, to work with some of you. I know you'll do well without me. Thank you all, and Good-Bye."
And with that, he put on his coat, walked out and retired.
I really want to do that when I go.

I knew I was getting laid off because I was paid out before I went in. So I went in with a mug of whiskey straight up. I also volunteered to go first and as I walked in, I raised my mug and said, "I already know im laid off" my old CFO was like, how do you know? Im like im paid hourly (this was at a pharma which was very rare) and I check my paycheck at midnight the day we get paid. I knew I got paid for my vacation time. Anyways, I spent 2k on my FSA funds in 10 minutes which they couldn't come after me for. I then got a severance of about 15k and had two other jobs the next day (I used to work multiple jobs) to go to, so I didnt care.
