I took my belt off and beat a (much larger) kid that had been bullying me all year on the school bus. With the buckle end. In the face.
As an adult, I now wonder why no school administrators asked me where I’d learned that particular tactic, because if they had, it would have been very telling.

I come from the mandatory showers after gym class era. I can pop a towel and draw blood. I was quite a nerd and the only thing that prevented me from getting hazed in the halls was my locker room assassinations. I only had gym with about 30 guys. No one fucked with me because I'd go after your friends and ask you to pass it on.
Not one, not two, but three teachers got me Douglas Adams's Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy book. There are some life lessons in there. My senior year I carried a baby blue hand towel in my Jansport backpack loop.
Those poor freshmen that called me Linus. I don't feel sorry.

I was at a house party in high school, and the girl who threw the party didn’t like me-and she made it known in school and at the party.
So I shit in a glass, added a splash of piss and put the cup o’ turd in the microwave, set it on high for 10 minutes.
Then I walked out and waited on the curb for the chaos to ensue.
People ran out of the house puking from the smell.
This is the first time I’ve ever mentioned it was me.

tried to take my life in front of my (now former) best friend.
we were in college. I tried to jump off a balcony. she pulled me down, got me inside, and called for help. I will never forget the panic on her face. it will forever haunt me that I inflicted that amount of direct, terrifying pain on someone I care about. our friendship ended for different reasons sometime later, but I am sure that that was part of it. things were nasty on both sides, but I know I was rarely as good of a friend as I should have been.
I'm so sorry. I'm doing better now. I hope you are, too.

Thank you ❤️ I finally was able to forgive him last year, eight years after he died. It clicked for me that I was angry because he hadn't apologized, and I felt stuck because he *couldn't*. But I realized I knew him, and he was kind, and he would be devastated to know how much pain he caused. So I imagined him saying how sorry he was, and I imagined holding him and telling him we all make mistakes and I forgive him. It really helped me heal. Painful as it was for your friend, I'm glad you attempted in a way where you could see that pain rather than having it be hypothetical to you

No. It probably wouldn't have made a difference. People who don't want to die will drop hints or bring it up. He didn't because he already made up his mind. If it totally catches you off guard it's because they went to lengths to make sure others wouldn't know or stop them.
They probably just wanting to chat one more time regardless of the content of the chat as a final connection with you. I know you wish you had made the discussion about them and that hindsight is 20/20, but you aren't powerful enough to be that deciding factor so please allow yourself forgiveness.

Here’s the thing. You can’t know. You can’t know what would have been the outcome if you answered that call. Your brain is presupposing something that is unknowable because it didn’t happen.
You didn’t answer because you couldn’t answer…for your own health. You are your number one responsibility in life. You made the best decision in the moment, for yourself, and that is all any of us can do.
Whatever it was that happened, happened. And you are not responsible.
Be easy on yourself. You are the only you that exists and you are the only one truly looking out for you.
But again. I’m sorry.

So long ago, me and a friend rented a house together just after high school, from an older man that was a friend of his dads. The landlord had a large garage on site that he used for his other rental properties (he had several properties), and he had amassed a horde of furniture ranging anywhere from 5 to 100 years old. We weren’t allowed to use it ourselves, but he occasionally had us help him move stuff into it so I knew where the keys were.
So I lived in the house for a little under a year, and we didn’t have an actual, official “lease” since the landlord was a family friend. After a certain point, my friend decided to move back in with his parents because the rent was getting in the way of him spending money on his hobby stuff, and to be fair, I encouraged him moving out because I didn’t mind the idea of having the house to myself.
Well a week after my friend moved out, the landlord came to collect the rent, which I paid in full, and found out from me, that my friend had moved out without him knowing. Literally the next day, he came over and told me that he didn’t want me living in the house by myself, and if I could move out within the week, he’d give me half of the rent money back. I told him that was unrealistic and it was gonna take more than a week to find a place to move, and he instead gave me two weeks and kept the rent money.
So, after finding an apartment to move into, and getting all of my stuff out, I went around the house did a small amount of petty things to piss the guy off, like taking all of the lightbulbs. But the thing I’m most proud of was taking five jars of peanut butter and hiding them throughout the garage. Every day for the last week, I would check every day for signs of vermin activity, and literally after the first two days, little paw prints starting cropping inside the jars and around the furniture.
I know the house sat vacant for at least another month after the guy evicted me, and according to my friend, the landlords family eventually had to clear the entire garage. And as far as I know, they never traced it to me.

I rented a cool old place from a man I thought was a friend. One morning he was caught looking in a ground floor apartment and watching the woman who lived there in and out of the shower. She saw him and yelled at him and I heard her scream and I ran downstairs and caught him sneaking into the back door. I asked him what happened and he said it was none of my business. She told me what happened and I told him that he was a dirty old pervert. A week later I had an eviction notice on my door. The server had signed the notice that he had handed me the notice personally. I went to the office where he worked and talked to his boss who happened to be his father. He had perjured himself when he signed it. I showed him my receipts for the three days that I was out of town on the date of the notice. I told him that he would be hearing from my attorney. He asked me why I was being evicted and I told him what happened. He left his office to make a call to my landlord and came back with an offer of 4 months rent free for not getting an attorney involved. Four months later I moved downstairs with the woman he had been spying on in the shower. Before I left my apartment I was cleaning out my freezer and had a large catfish that I had caught but never ate. I pulled off the heater grate in the floor of the living room and shoved it about 6 feet deep into it and put the grate back on. It took him a while to figure out where the stench was coming from but she and I had given him our 30 day notice and moved out.

Told a girl that I was glad her mother died.
Background: my own mother was extremely abusive in all ways except sexual (kinda). This girl and her mother were witnesses to that abuse. Her mother was also a facilitator to my abuse.
The girl's mother died from diabetes related issues a few years ago after losing an entire foot/leg up to the knee and then half of her other foot.
The girl then took it upon herself (maybe two years later) to message me because my own mother had messaged her. My mother said she had been crying because she missed me so much (we have been no contact for 10+ years as of this year and she is blocked on everything possible) and how she didn't know how she fucked up with me, that she was a good mom, blah, blah, blah.
The girl told me what my mother said and that I should forgive and forget, that my mother was a good mom, that she remembers when we were growing up and that my mother never unnecessarily hit me, that my mother was better than hers, I was "lucky I had someone to cry over me as a daughter" because her mother was dead and that I don't know what that kind of pain is like. 😒
I told her that she was younger than me and had no idea what she was talking about, that more happened when people weren't around that she never saw, and to mind her own business. She called me a b**** and an entitled, ungrateful daughter and told me that my mother would die would day and then I would feel bad. I told her she was wrong and, again, to mind her own business.
She continued calling me a b**** and an a****** so I told her that I was glad her mother died. I told her that she probably gave up on herself because she was so disappointed in the kind of person her daughter turned out to be.
Was it fucked up? For sure. But, we weren't kids anymore. I wasn't going to let her just poke and poke and poke like I had when we were younger. I had a house and kids and became that adult that my mother told me I needed to be in order to understand why she abused me. I was an adult and still didn't understand why my mother hated me, why her control over me was more important than the guidance I needed from her.
So to have someone who grew up *seeing* what my mother did and STILL taking my mother's side sent me over the edge.
She kept commenting something along the lines of me feeling sorry if that comment made her suicidal. I told her it'd be better if she minded her business in the future. Then I blocked her.
It would have been more reasonable to block her from the first message. I knew nothing productive would come from that conversation because it literally never did. But, I was so angry and hot-headed and had this need to be heard and to prove everyone wrong. It was an ugly and mean thing to say. I'm not sorry I said it but I still regret engaging, period. It didn't make me a better person, I didn't feel better because I said it either.

I was on bad terms with a friend at the time. He moved and I haven’t seen him in years until he showed up one day at my high school to visit old friends , tried to say hi and I ignored.
He left to go back home about a week later and I found out he had killed himself.
I still think about it pretty often and I regret not trying to make conversation or at least say hi back, I truly had no idea.
We were very close friends and shared a similar friend group, I went to his funeral along with our mutual friends at the time and they were making jokes about him the entire time. I forgot exactly what I had told them all but I cut them all off that day. It breaks me knowing that I ignored him :/

As a teenager, I signed up to be in the Marine Corps. Was dating a guy who also decided to join against his parents wishes. Was deployed to Afghanistan and their truck was blown up by a road side bomb and he ended up losing almost every leg bone in his right leg. All of its titanium now. I know I didnt make him sign up, but Ive always felt guilty about what he went through. Hes a good dude and is happily married and has 2 little girls.

My dad was deployed to Baghdad when I was 13. One time he tried calling us after almost two weeks without access to a phone. I answered, it was a collect call, which I had never received before.
Thinking it was a prank call from some friends, I declined the charges and hung up. Later found out that was one of the few times in my dad’s adult life where he cried himself to sleep.

That’s sad, but at the end of the day you aren’t to blame for your parents not explaining that to you beforehand. You were 13 and you simply didn’t know. I’m sure your dad understands that even if it was a rough night for him.

My (now ex) boyfriend cheated on me so I straight up went fishing, caught four pike, not a god damned fishing license in sight, I was fishing out of pure spite, and let myself into his house when he was at work and put the dead fish in his vents then broke up with him. It wasn't a messy breakup, like we were on good terms and he never knew I knew about the cheating. I work in HVAC and about a month after we broke up he texted me asking me about why smells could be coming out of his vents. I redirected him and said it's probably his plumbing. He asked me to come look anyway and while I was there I soaked paper towel in milk and threw those in the vents too. I stopped answering his texts not long after lol.

Honestly that’s not that bad, after you delete an account you can recover it. Sure it will take time to redownload all the games but that’s just a minor inconvenience… all the stuff on the cloud or his hard drive will still be there so no achievements lost.
What you should have done was get him banned from steam THEN yeah there’s no way to recover that and he’d have to prove he got hacked or someone logged into his account from a separate IP address while also proving he’s currently at a different IP address which is pretty hard to prove.
After you get banned he’d have to create another account rebuy and replay the same games to get those achievements back and he can’t even use game saves from a banned account because then the new account would get banned lol

Set him up on a date.
He was grade-A jerk, a cocky handsome sod who loved to torment me and other nerds... and went through girls like they were tissues. So, I happened to know a girl, met her though a mutual acquaintance. Knew she was single and looking for someone to get her fangs into. She was stacked, gothy, into vampires... and the most needy, clingy psychotic hot mess you can imagine.
So... I set them up... and it went *exactly* as you'd imagine.
Three months and one restraining order later and she tied him to her bed and branded her name into his chest so no-one else could have him. That was nearly ten years ago... I hear he's still in therapy.

Moved to a new city with my girlfriend in what I thought was a decent house with roommates. We paid our share of $800 for our room on time every time. For months. Then there’s a notice on the front door talking about the city coming and possessing the house. She, roommate and owner, owed thousands in taxes and never told us. Prompting us to scramble and find a new place to live with short notice, I did something bad. Before we left for good, I took a big glass mug and filled it to the brim with heavy cream. Placed it behind the stove and then put the stove back in place. How long does it take for these things to spoil in Las Vegas summer heat? Never mind the scorpion infestation she had that we found out inconveniently in the bathroom one day. Sigh. I also pissed in a hole in the wall but that was at a party and I’m thinking I’m not the first one to do so.

I worked as an office assistant at a public defender’s office. My one time I missed getting a signature from a judge to get this lady out of jail that night. It was a Friday, everyone was heading out early and i didn’t know I missed the signature until after 4:00 when the lady started calling from the jail asking to talk to her attorney. No one was in office or reasonably reachable at that point. Judge, attorney, any of my supervisors, no one. I had to explain to this woman that she had to sit tight and that I would try to get ahold of a judge or her attorney. She called every 5 minutes because calls to your public defender are unrestricted in jail. That was over a decade ago and I still feel horrible.

You’re 100% right but I’ll probably always feel like I could’ve done more. He wasn’t the brightest, and growing up he was the popular, charming one while I was just the sidekick. He did improve over time, but he still made bad choices. Now he’s stuck in a rough situation, working a sketchy construction job and tied to a manipulative partner who threatens suicide.
I care about him and wish I could pull him out, but I’ve already done more than I should. I helped build the friend group he relies on, yet both me and my best friend eventually cut him off without explanation. Another friend still checks in on him, but it’s not the same. I just wish things had turned out differently. If I had the means, I would help him disappear and start over.

In High school I had two "friends" who would be all buddy-buddy with me when it was just us.
But when we hung out with more people altogether, I was always the butt of the joke and they treated me like shit. Finally I had had enough.
I was good friends with their girlfriends. Ended up getting one of them to cheat with me, and when that ship sailed, I convinced the other to dump him. Can't help but feel kinda bad about it.

I grew up in an extremely abusive and negligent home life. When I was in elementary school (grade 6 I think), my mom got my brothers to find my journal to give it to her. She liked to embarrass me about the things inside, yell at me or make fun of me. It got to the point where I’d write things down and throw out the pages, but my mom would find it in the garbage. I ripped up the pages, and she would tape them together. So I stopped writing anything I felt. At school, though, our teachers encouraged us to journal, so I thought maybe I could be extra sneaky about it. I was wrong.
Somehow, my youngest brother found my journal again. This time, though, instead of bringing it to my mother, he brought it to school. My brother was doing a school special thing over the intercom. It was kind of like a radio show. He decided to start reading my journal out loud for everyone in the entire school to hear.
Kids started to make fun of me. I was so shocked and humiliated. Some of the content included two guys I had a crush on. One of them apologized and said he didn’t feel the same way, and that he was sorry that my brother did that. At least he was nice. The other guy screamed in my face in front of everyone that I was ugly and annoying and that he would never like somebody as disgusting as me, etc etc. Apparently he knew that I liked him because my friend told him. That definitely killed the crush. I tried to act cool but I was not ok. Instead of crying or making a scene, though, I just left. I went outside and stayed there until recess, just walking around and thinking.
When the bell rang, something in me snapped. I searched for my brother, pulled him by his ear into the field, pushed him, and shouted at him. He called me names and said that I deserved it, and that nobody liked me. He said that even people in my grade liked him more than me (which was true).
I saw red, and I kind of blacked out. Here’s what I can gather from flashes and the aftermath:
-I was screaming at the top of my lungs so loud and high that I lost my voice, and the shrieking spooked everyone outside.
-I just kept shoving him and then pinned him down.
-I tore out some of his hair.
-I threw sand in his eyes and tried to stuff some in his mouth (he almost suffocated).
-I clawed at him and left a bunch of scratches. He pinched me and I caught his hands, twisting them and bent his fingers backwards. I didn’t break them, but I dislocated the joints or something.
-I started kicking the shit out of him, and he needed to get his sides checked to make sure that I didn’t bust a kidney or something.
-He had black eyes, a busted lip, a broken nose, almost half of his abdomen was bruised, and I screamed so loudly in his ears that apparently he couldn’t hear anything for a while.
-I bit him, and when my other brother tried to get in the way, I bit him too so deep I drew blood, and even tore out some of his flesh. He still has the bite marks.
-I was choking the shit out of him and was trying to dig my thumbs into his neck until he got those purple spots. While I was strangling him, he got super red and it looked like his eyes were going to pop out.
-Somebody was pulling me off him while I was giving him a wedgie (while stepping on his neck) that was so severe that he had to go to the hospital (he was ok). When they tore him away from me, he was basically a ragdoll.
-He was coughing/throwing up blood for a while.
-I was smiling a wide, creepy grin almost the entire time, as if possessed.
I got in deep shit. My teachers were pissed, my mom was pissed, and the other kids thought it was fucked up. I was told that I should have been the bigger person because I was older. My mom somehow convinced them not to suspend me, and I just got a bunch of detention instead. My brother was pissed at me for a while, but then he later admitted that he thought he deserved it.
I’m not usually a violent person, so this whole thing was super disturbing to me (especially since I blocked some of it out), but after that, my brothers stopped torturing me as much, and I think that my mom was scared enough of me not to try anything physical. The school did call social services, but by that time we knew to give them the usual script.
I don’t know if this was the worst thing that my brother ever did to me. It was probably one of the worst psychological things, if not the worst, but what I did to him was fucked up. I was like a wild animal, and it kind of scared me for a while because of how badly I scared everyone else. Before that, it had never occurred to me that I was even capable of something like that.
There are a lot of things that have gone wrong in my life, and I’ve learned a lot about my own toxic behaviors, but that’s the only time that I’ve gotten violent with anyone in a way that wasn’t self-defence.

Stole money from my gramma cuz i could barely get by, taking care of my brother and trapped in an abusive relationship. I was angry at her for allowing people to hurt me and choosing to punish me when id run myself ragged and out of money trying to take care of her.
She knew and never said anything to me. And you could definitely justify what I did. I had to keep the roof over our heads and food in the fridge. But I also had taken more than I needed and she had dementia. And she'd been my best friend my whole life excluding when she disowned me and when she kicked me out, two separate occasions *both* to protect her son which was a violent and stinky alcoholic.
Now shes dead and there isn't a day that goes by that I dont regret stealing and leaving, even if leaving was what I needed to do to protect myself. And shed asked me to come back, but I was too sick, like vomiting up blood and coughing so hard I was pissing myself. And I never got a chance to go back before she died. And how she died will haunt me till the day *I* die.

I told my psychiatrist that I did the unthinkable. She asked me if she can talk to my parent to inform them about her plans to send me to a hospital. It was my first time telling her that, so I said okay.
She talked to my mom while the dr asked me to leave the room for awhile. My mom called me back to discuss the plans with the dr and she had been crying because she didn't know.
I swear, I feel bad to see her cry, especially it was because of me. That was also the first time I realized someone in the family loves me, because she cried for me.
From then on, she became strict whenever I'll be alone. Like she'll ask my brother to stay with me, if possible.

This was done as a joke, I am the guilty party who came up with the idea but when we were younger, I convinced all my friends one day to wait for our mutual stuck friend to go to sleep (mind you we were all drunk), then go ahead and lift and carry his small car ontop of the sidewalk in front of his house. We were still drinking until 6am when he was set to leave for work so we hid to watch the ruckus as he came out and had to drive down the sidewalk to the end of the block since he was boxed in by parked cars.

I was friends with a guy while dating my ex. Nothing romantic between us at all. He dated other girls, and I saw him randomly here and there at work. My ex always hated him, thought I would cheat on him, he ended up cheating on me.
I developed a major crush on this guy a while after I broke up with my ex. I literally went to the same bar all the time just to bump into him, excuse to talk and catch up. He was one of a kind, haven’t met anyone like him since. One night we got to talking, and he explicitly stated that we wouldn’t be a good match and he didn’t want to date, I was heartbroken.
Fast forward a week later, I have sex with my ex. That night I’m at the same bar with some friends, bump into the crush. Long story short, lots of drinks later, we hit it off that night. Probably one of the best nights of my life even though I was wasted. Before crashing at his place he asked when I last had sex with my ex, I said months ago. A total lie, honest hand to god, I was wasted, I wasn’t even thinking about the fact that I had banged him 8 hrs earlier.
The next morning, I woke up in his arms and immediately told him the truth. He kicked me out, I ubered home, and prob spent the next month apologizing and trying to contact him. Never heard from him again. I did hear that my ex heard we slept together, and tried to punch him a few days later.
Still the biggest regret of my life, even though it’s about 12-13 years later. I msged him on instagram a few years ago, and he didn’t reply.
I’m happy with my life right now, single, but good job, good education, two awesome pets, but sometimes I wonder what would be different.

It was exam season though, and I got caught up in the blizzard of applying for universities and interviews. She took a turn for the worst in mid July, and by the time I knew she had passed away.
I got into my dream university, but turned it down because the guilt and self-loathing wouldn’t let me go.

Blew up at my mom and told her to shut up when she was just asking about my day (i was playing a game that was already starting to pissing me off but still, that's no excuse)

A guy in my class (11th) put a blame of stealing (~710 dollar) on me which he did, so I talked to female friend and asked her for her pads and I put the pads and a pantyy (i purchased it) in his bag and after that she(my friend) went to the teacher and told that she believe "xx" is stealing girls things.
After that he got restigated/public ashamed/bald/frog jump of whole school in underwear.

I swear on every fiber of my being that if I could go back in time I would beat the living s*it out of myself for doing this, I feel incredibly ashamed and embarrassed about this. It was super out of character for me.
A friend and myself were out collecting donations for our High School sports program. We were stationed at a supermarket and it was pretty boring for the most part. Then, an elderly, overweight, woman drove by in her car. She was waiting in line to leave the store parking lot (there was a line), and she smiled at me through the window. All my stupid ass could think about was her double chin, and I burst out laughing right in her face. She then looked super sad and turned her head back and drove out of the parking lot.
Seriously, worst day/moment of my life. There isn’t much I wouldn’t offer to take it back. I still feel so sorry for that woman and would profusely apologize if I got the chance to see her again.
