Avatar. It looks incredible, I just never cared enough about the story to really love it.

Avatar was a "you had to be there" movie, and "there" was a theater with a modern imax 3d setup in 2009. It was amazing. Watching it anywhere else is basically like watching an extended benchmark demo for a TV that for some reason has sequels.

Lower_Group_1171 Apr 2, 2026 +12
Because it’s been told over, and over, and over again. Last of the Mohicans, dances with wolves, last samurai just off the top of my head.  White man is savior to the “savages” lol
12
Ghostpants_ Apr 3, 2026 +8
Last Samurai is not that.
8
Alendrathril Apr 3, 2026 +2
Lol Avatar is not even that. How people arrive at this is beyond me.

Wicked, won't watch it, just hate it!

I’m not a fan of musicals for the most part, figured I’d give it a shot cause of the hype. I don’t hate it but I wish I didn’t watch it.
6
Da_full_monty Apr 2, 2026 +21
You just know, right?! Same
21
rigorcorvus Apr 2, 2026 +16
I haven’t seen it either but you can’t really say you don’t like a movie you haven’t seen lol

And yet here we are.
13

I don't hate it, but I also won't watch it. Seem too many clips of weird af interviews they did.

No
4

Neither have I, but I’m pretty damn sure I wouldn’t enjoy it if I did.
21
Harriet_tubman22 Apr 3, 2026 +8
Stupid comparison. Eating feces isn’t appealing to us because we’d get sick from it, it’s evolutionary response
8
TooOld2DieYoung Apr 3, 2026 +4
Agreed. And my instincts are telling me that I would not enjoy even a second of those films.
4

I wish they would have focused on the home remodel. He really did a great job.
4
Top-Sheepherder-1176 Apr 2, 2026 +62
Any superhero movie. Can't stand them.
62
HorndogAsexual Apr 3, 2026 +2
Most of them are overrated but I enjoyed a few. The Dark Knight Trilogy, the first 2 spiderman movies, The Burton Batman movies. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies, the first Iron Man.... that's about it. The rest do nothing for me. I'll go the theaters with my friends to see them, because we always have fun together, but I'd never seek them out myself.
2
ecdc05 Apr 2, 2026 +10
I like some Batman movies okay but just about anything else is a big no from me. Especially Marvel movies. I know that doesn't go over well on Listnook but...well here we are. They're all the same movie. I'm hearing about people screaming and cheering at certain scenes in Avengers: Endgame, and I'm like...this was the most boring, predictable result imaginable?
10
ABSOLUTE_RADIATOR Apr 2, 2026 +4
People on listnook shit on marvel movies all the time. I feel like every day I see people complaining about something having "marvel dialogue" or "marvel overdesigned characters"
4
Top-Sheepherder-1176 Apr 2, 2026 +11
Sure, I'll give you The Dark Knight as well. Really well made movie. But yeah, I couldn't agree more on the Marvel thing and their predictability - how many times are they going to create the same tropes and characters that say the exact same cheesy jokes? I can't be bothered.
11
Roadsoda350 Apr 2, 2026 +4
The batman trilogy was great but these MCU movies are awful. Only exception IMO is guardians of the galaxy and thats mostly because of the soundtrack.
4
Papio_73 Apr 2, 2026 +2
Yeah, with some exceptions I find superhero movies so boring, I just zone out.
2

Awful film. Almost everyone one of its plot lines is cringey.
10

They’re also mostly terrible people. Except for the sex scene stand in couple. They’re sweet.
2
nyutnyut Apr 2, 2026 +4
Yah. Not sure why people go crazy about the scene where the guys uses the signs to tell best friends wife he is in love with her. D*** move if you ask me. You keep that shit to yourself.

Ohmygod I said the same thing 😂
6
pourthebubbly Apr 2, 2026 +3
THANK YOU. When I told my little cousins I hated the movie, they looked at me like I was a Christmas demon.
3
grumblebuzz Apr 3, 2026 +6
Probably Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies. I grew up on the whimsy of things like Batman The Animated Series, Tim Burton’s vision of Batman and even the 1960’s TV show. I just found Nolan’s vision for the Batman mythology and universe stripped away most of what I liked about it to begin with for the sake of making it more gritty and real.
6
Neg_Crepe Apr 3, 2026 +2
It’s grounded in reality so much that the fact that it is Batman is irrelevant.
2
lightsout7241 Apr 2, 2026 +16
Almost anything with Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell
16
yarnmonger Apr 3, 2026 +5
The only Will Ferrell movie I like is Stranger than Fiction, which I think he does a brilliant job in, and it is not a comedy or his usual character. Otherwise, very grating!
5

I also said anything with Will Ferrell. He’s…not funny

Correct.
2
bloodectomy Apr 2, 2026 +2
That's because it's Pocahontas in space. You don't even need to watch the movie to see that because it was evident from the trailer
2
AwkwardChuckle Apr 2, 2026 +3
Isn’t it kind of reverse Pocahontas?
3
Prudent-Salad-6173 Apr 2, 2026 +3
This. It's so predictable.

Maybe you need to be older to enjoy? I’m 52 and would say it is one of my favorites. Born in 1973 when Dad and all my uncles came home from Vietnam… No one died in the war but lots of horrific stories.

1
TuesdayMush Apr 2, 2026 +1
The first two movies are not great. They have no real directorial flair. The quality improves dramatically with the 3rd movie (which is the high point of the series). But all the rest are better films than the first two.
1
punchdrunkbimbo Apr 2, 2026 +2
Same. I was in middle school when the movies first came out and I got dragged to the first few bc it was such a phenomenon at the time. I remember going to one that came out in high school and I could not get through it, left 1/2 way to sit in the arcade area of the movie theater until my friends came out.

4
GeminiIsMissing Apr 3, 2026 +5
I clocked out after an hour and thirty minutes, when I realized I was only halfway there and I just felt grosser the longer I watched.
5
Majk1389 Apr 2, 2026 +2
Agreed, the writing is ridiculous at times, especially the first 30 mins. The perfidia character is an odd choice in writing and acting. However it does get interesting after 30 mins but it’s quite long.
2
vonov129 Apr 2, 2026 +6
Lalaland. Most of the dialogue is stupid, the dancing scenes feel so empty, the opening scene alone covers the worst 5 min I've spent watching a movie, and I watched Human Centipede 2. The starting development of the main couple is nonsense. By the time it gets decent, there are only 15 min left for the movie.

I thought Smile and A Quiet Place were terrible. I know horror, like all art, is subjective, but I found it incredibly hard to enjoy either of them. I didn't find them scary or particularly intelligently written.
7
mimiiscool Apr 2, 2026 +6
I liked smile a lot I thought it was a good horror but I agree with A Quiet Place, found it quite boring.

I have friends that told me that movie was hilarious and that we'd be quoting lines from it fit the rest of our lives. I liked literally none of it. I di6nt quote a single line either. Van Wilder is the other one. They said it was the new Animal House and the lines would be quoted forever. I don't know of any memorable lines. You know what movie I do quote every day........Animal House.

He's hit or miss for me. I loved Royal Tenenbaums and Grand Budapest. Rushmore annoyed the f*** out of me. Moonrise Kingdom too
4
Jirayn Apr 3, 2026 +2
I love fantastic mr. Fox, I feel rohl dalls writing really helps in that way. Great author, weird stories, plays to wes Andersons style.
2
seffend Apr 3, 2026 +2
EVERYTHING Wes Anderson. I've tried and tried and tried over the years, but I just cannot do it. It's too f****** twee. I feel about Wes Anderson movies the same way I feel about the "feature" on modern TVs that gives it the soap opera effect (I think it's a motion smoothing thing.) Most people I know in real life either aren't bothered by the effect or don't notice it, but for me it completely ruins whatever I'm watching. It's the same feeling inside when I watch Wes Anderson movies.

The Denis Villeneuve DUNE movies. Good god are they boring and soulless. How do you take such a fascinating story and cast of characters, and make me basically not care about any of them? There's no sense of purpose, no dramatic questions, no shape or texture to the story. I'm a leaf in the wind! OK, but like, was that in any way a thing you were working on as a character? What's the plan for the big battle? Attack!

Diocletion-Jones Apr 2, 2026 +3
Arrival 2016. I like the film’s ideas, but the twist has always felt like a cheat to me. The movie presents Louise’s “memories” as if they’re flashbacks to the mid 2000s, no aging, no tech changes, no fashion shifts, but in universe she’s actually remembering the 2030s. The film deliberately hides all future markers so the audience won’t realise these scenes are flash forwards. The ending depends on Louise recalling a future conversation with General Shang verbatim, which means her future memories must be precise. If she can remember his whispered words perfectly, she should also be remembering the future world with the same clarity: aging, tech, context, everything. But the film can’t show that without giving away the twist, so it presents the future like the past. It’s a clever emotional trick but it breaks the internal logic for me. Every time I mention this, I get downvoted like I’ve just told the Spanish Inquisition “there is no God.” I always say I won’t post this opinion again, but here I am.

Barbie, Wicked, Maleficent, Cinderella (2015) Jungle Book (2016), Christopher Robin, basically any Disney live action de-make, Tangled, Frozen (and its sequels), Moana, Despicable Me, Cars, basically 95% of animated movies out today and many others.

I watched Train Dreams and felt very sorry that I didn’t really enjoy it at all. Usually that sort of film would be right up my alley but I just couldn’t get into it. Couldn’t connect with the characters or the emotions of the story and I thought some of the acting was weak, which also killed my engagement with the story at points. The main character was played well, though, and it is a gorgeous film visually. Oh well.
