What old technology or way of doing things do you still use because you just like it better than the new way?

Physical buttons. If I have to look at my screen just to change volume, we’ve gone too far.

still use physical books instead of ebooks. nothing beats the smell and actually turning real pages. feels more real than staring at a screen

I combine both. I like the convenience of pulling out my phone whenever I want to read a few pages. I prefer physical at home tho :)

I still use a physical planner. There’s something satisfying about crossing things off with a pen that no app can match.

Writing notes with pen & paper rather than a tablet or phone. The info just sticks in my head easier and when I flip back to the page, it all comes back to me more quickly than if I was reading it off a notes app or word document.

I still use a fountain pen daily.

I love my fountain pens! Nothing matches the scratchy feel of writing with a good fountain pen

Analog mills versus digitally controlled mills. Nothing beats the feeling of holding a tolerance the same gauge as a human hair, on a piece of machinery that's 80 years old🙂

Not really old or obsolete by any measure but I prefer wired earphones and never use the wireless versions

Writing stuff on paper and not using AI. I'm probably the last generation to be able to do this.

I build my own furniture. Sure, there are tons of places you can buy furniture but when you’ve cut the logs to make the planks and dowels and drilled every hole by hand you know that this is yours. Like, I did this and it is completely mine. It's a different kind of ownership because I have invested much of myself into it as opposed to just showing up to a store and picking something out. The next closest thing would be if you bought an item but had a hand in the design and got to know the artist personally along the way. Buying cheaper products may be more efficient but making everything yourself is more rewarding.

I know phones have notes, reminders, everything, but something about a small notebook and a pen just feels different. When you write it, you actually remember it, My phone forgets for me, but my brain remembers when I use paper.
