What shenanigans are your pets up to recently?

Posted by lilchow

My doggo Luna recently crossed the rainbow bridge and I am quite heartbroken about it. However, instead of moping, I would love to celebrate her life by hearing stories of your pet’s recent shenanigans and adventures! Some Luna shenanigans: \-Luna had absolutely no interest in our guest room, and my mom was happy to hear that when she stayed over because she wanted to reduce the amount of pet hair she took home with her. Unfortunately for her, Luna caught wind of this and would find ways to sneak in to sniff around her things and nap there. She lost interest after my mom left and did not exhibit the same behavior with other guests who did allow her in. \-After a dental appointment, we were advised to only let Luna out on a leash to potty. When with my husband, she learned that if she walked to the end of the street to pee, she could get a longer walk out of it because they’d have to walk back. She proceeded to trick him into these longer walks for a few days. \-Luna liked to dog-watch out our window, but knew we didn’t like the growling. If she saw a dog, she’d look around the apartment first, and if she couldn’t see anyone, she’d begin barking and growling. If she saw one of us, she growl under her breath instead.

I am so sorry for your loss 🩵 She seemed like such a mischief maker and was clearly loved so well. As the weather is warming we got backpacks for our cats ("catpacks" heh) to take them along on walks. I thought we'd have to slow step / bribe into getting used to it, but they're OBSESSED. They walk in and hang out randomly. Then they wait and stare. When we come back inside they meander around and meow like "That was it?". When I hold them and walk outside they're so jittery and skittish and want back in the house pretty immediately. Weirdos hahaha Thanks for sharing all her little quirks, it made me smile 😊

It is hilarious how they act like tough explorers inside the bag but turn into total scaredy cats the second they touch the grass.

It is hilarious how they feel safe in a literal plastic bubble but freak out the second you actually hold them.

I'm sorry for your loss My chihuahua mix, Hana, has a terrible sense of direction. She sees a squirrel out the front window, and immediately runs out the dog door to the back yard where she looks around confused, comes back in to the front window, and repeat. We've lived here for almost a year now and she still can't figure out that the front yard and back yard aren't connected

Similarly but opposite, my first dog didn’t know that the front door and the back door led to the same place (outside). I always parked in front. He would only go out that door when we went to the dog park, because obviously the car wouldn’t exist if we went out the back. If someone left out one door and came in the other one he’d lose his mind.

((Hugs)) My Lucy is a micro mini Sheepadoodle. 23 solid pounds of love and stubbornness. Her best friend is the Pomeranian who lives next door. Rudy is small enough to slip between the bars on the wrought iron fences separating our backyards. Lucy regularly “invites” in through the doggie door to play. 🤣

I’m sorry to hear about Luna, she sounded like such a good dog My biggest pets’ shenanigans are… - my cat got her head stuck in a tissue box - my dog asks me to play fetch with him on a regular basis, and he tells me he’s done when he stares at me and sits in my lap when I sit down

Senior dog and senior cat. Lot of sleeping mostly.

Our big dog is named Luna too and she's only 3 years old but she still acts like a little puppy. When she gets excited she spins around and our smaller dog Millie just looks at her like she's crazy. And Millie is almost a year old and she seems to be a little bit more mature than our Luna.

We have a 2 yo husky and a bernedoodle that just turned 1.. I adopted my husky mostly for me and partly as a companion for the hyper bernedoodle since they are high energy dogs as well. Tell me how my husky is the most low key dog I've ever had in my life?? I got him because of i love how chaotic huskies can be. But Marley is seriously the laziest dog ever. I got him checked out bc i thought he was sick lol.. nope. He gets husky energy if I get his squeaky to play fetch, but other than that he's just all about the house life. He doesn't even want to get up in the morning to pee! Super smart and well trained, calm, no barking or howling, no husky shenanigans at all lol. and the bernedoodle? Like a hyper 3yo child cracked out on candy haha.. such a difference

I’m trying to go to the bathroom, and my tortie is trying to get into the towel cabinet while my youngest girl is lying across my shoulders, washing. One of my boys is on the bathroom counter, watching the tortie.

So sorry about Luna. I have 2 dogs, 11 (Jethro a hound mix) and 12 (Lola an american bulldog boxer mix). Jethro has to go to the vet tomorrow for more blood work as they think he might have cushings disease. He is just the best boy & loves to go for rides in daddy’s truck. Lola got a manicure today. They are both outside helping their dad w yard work. Their feline brother Astro (4) spent most of the night last night perched in the window sills, watching our for night critters & just took a nap w me.

((Hugs)) I think my dog, Dexter can tell that my husband has hurt my feelings. He has been pooping on his of the bed despite being pee pad trained. Also has been snuggling down between us instead of by my feet.

Mocha the cat has been pretending not to like the squeeze tube treats I give her. She will sit there as I literally smear the stuff all over her mouth and nose in a desperate attempt to get her to eat. And then I will say something like, "Girl, what?!!" and she will.start slurping up the mess on her face and the rest of the tube like there is no tomorrow. She totally reminds me of those girls who want to be cute by pretending they don't like greasy cheeseburgers but then will totally go to town on one if you insist enough.

I am so sorry for your loss of Luna. I adopted a 9 year old male miniature schnauzer about 10 months ago. In the initial days of us learning each other, he decided to nest on my pillow as I was washing my face, etc., getting ready for bed. When I tried to move him, he grumbled. I move the pillow to the middle of the bed and got another pillow. He repositioned himself with his back to me. Ignored me completely. I decided to howl, he raised his head and looked at me as I was still howling. He started howling and we howled together, I was forgiven. I learned when I say Roo-Roo a few times, he gets excited and starts howling.

Thank you for all the delightful stories. We will never be able to repay our pets for the love and joy they have brought us.

One of mine has decided the sound of me opening the dishwasher means we are now co-hosting a cooking show and she has to supervise from the exact worst possible spot. The other one acts like throwing the ball once created a legally binding contract for the rest of the day.

Bruno is a ball dog. if I am distracted, he knows if he drops it in th3 trash, a bucket, rolls under a piece of furniture, etc. mom will be forced to get up and recover said ball. he is consistently annoying with his ball. he has taken to barking at places where there is no ball. faking Mom out.

So sorry for your loss. My dog accidentally charged through a railing on my deck when she was chasing the broom I was using to sweep snow off the deck this winter. She briefly flew through the air like Superdog, but fortunately was OK.

Losing a dear pet is so hard. I'm sorry your going through it. Right now my tortie cat Abby, age 6, is sitting nearby, staring at me. She comes to me for food but to my husband for lap time. She was my late uncle's cat first and I think she likes best to sit on big guy laps. She is a super easy cat to be around. Our other cat is an orange/white named Theo, age 3. We met him at a pet store display by the local Humane Society. We'd been looking for weeks for just the right cat because we like to have them in twos. Theo started putting on a show for us, flipping and flopping and meowing to take him home. He is both cuddly and cranky but likes to play with toys. We have to make sure the toilet seat is down because he likes to drop the toys in the bowl. He sleeps between my husband and me each night while Abby prefers a chair in the living room. I wish they were more bonded like some other cat pairs we've had but they tolerate each other and that will have to do!

We finally got to meet and play with a neighbor's dog. What's the first thing my guy did when we went inside for water? Start bolting the other dog's food even though he's been turning his nose up at his own! On the plus side, I'll know soon whether or not he can tolerate Purina Turkey flavor. (Wheaten Terriers can have digestive troubles with chicken... no consensus on other forms of poultry. )

Sorry to hear. My dog, Ghost, is largely well behaved but the funny thing is that he will do bad things when around my sister's dog. Her dogs steals food off the table, etc. It is funny to catch him because he clearly knows what the rules are. Ghost looks guilty and then slowly pans to look accusingly at her dog. 'eh, there was chicken on the floor, what am I supposed to do?'

Hi OP, I'm sorry you lost Luna. While I don't currently have pets, I'd like to share a few stories from my childhood. I used to have a Beagle named Snoopy, who would howl - somewhat on key - whenever anyone played piano. A more humorous story, is that I once had a little tiny black sheep named Fleecy, who I got for my 6th birthday. She was tiny and adorable. I always picked out the runt. We put her in a big pen that my dad built for her, but she escaped the first night. We had everyone in the neighborhood out looking for her... driving around, and hiking with flashlights in hand. My mom, who was quite out of shape, spotted her on a hilltop by the side of a road. Without hesitation, I've never seen the woman sprint so fast, up a hill, with such purpose, in my life! She hit the ground running! Once she came to the top of the hill, she actually pounced on top of the sheep! She was as surprised with her own agility, as Fleecy sheep was confused! We got Fleecy home and she lived with us for many years. I'll tell you, I lived in the country, so the vet had seen many, many sheep in her career. Yet, once Fleecy grew up, the vet said that this was the biggest sheep she had ever seen in her career. While generally sweet, there were times when Fleecy used to charge at me, full speed, because she sensed my fear. I don't think she ever would have harmed me, but I think she did it for her own amusement. My sister, who was only a year older, would simply stand in front of this giant, charging sheep, and Fleecy would stop dead in her tracks! My mom tells a story of the time the sheep was charging me at full speed, and my mom looked out the window and all she could see was my two blond pony tails flying behind me in the wind, as I ran towards the front door as if I was running for my life. 🤣 Again, I'm really sorry for your loss. I hope this story brought you a laugh or two.

Sorry about Ms Luna 💔 I love that last story, looking around to see if she can bark or growl xD pets are so much more aware of us than we think. My Lu, a breed of snowshoe tabby with a beautiful chocolate coated and bright blue eyes, was the biggest love-bug-attention-hog. She loved being held and would meow obnoxiously until you fed or held her lol she especially liked being held like a baby, with her head upside down looking back at us. She also loved to sleep on your hip, and it was always so funny going to check on grandma napping and seeing Lu just perched on her hip all loafed up lol She really liked people food, and the two best times I can recall were when we got these chicken skewers at Costco, made them for dinner, and left my plate alone for just a minute, I came back to her having stolen an entire kebab! I found her in the other room, paw pressed on the wooden bit popping it up so she could eat the chicken off the kebab lol I couldnt be mad bc I was more impressed she figured out how to eat a kebab without hands or thumbs lol Another time I had gotten a turkey burger from Carl's Jr, and it was my lil midnight drunky snack so I was super excited for it. I brought it to my desk, put on a show, realized I forgotten my drink and went to grab it. I came back and there was just this trail of turkey burger toppings fallen haphazardly from my desk, to my chair, to the floor and down a ways where I found her eating the turkey patty under the desk xD One not related to food was one year for Christmas my grandma had gotten a rotating tree, so you could see all the ornaments and not have any hidden or a bare back tree. We set it up in the living room and one night as I was walking by from my room to the living room, I noticed this big gap of lights on the tree from the corner of my eye. When I did a double take, it was Lu, sitting pretty, paws crossed, enjoying the view from the 3rd floor of the tree, slowly spinning around 😂

I'm so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a character! My cat is very sweet but cuddling is rare. I can sit on the couch for hours and she won't come to me. HOWEVER as soon as I get into my bed at night (yay! Time for me to relax, now that everyone is settled!) she comes beside the bed and stares at me and makes the most annoying noise ("ennhhh"). She wants to come up. Fine, I pick her up and put her on the bed. Nope! She runs away. She comes back and starts staring and ennh-ing again. Eventually she MAY jump up and do biscuits and settle down. Other times she just sits and stares until I turn out the light.

My little dog gets mad when my big dog won’t play with her. She grabs his favorite toy (stuffed monkey) and starts violently beating it against the floor until he notices, freaks out, and starts chasing her through the house (ideal outcome). 5+ years ago my c**** bed frame collapsed in the middle of the night, which traumatized my boy dog. Now he watches me lay down and waits to see if it will happen again. When it doesn’t, he jumps up. I moved a few years back, and he did not do this for the week or so that I had a floor mattress.

One of my cats is currently testing the gravity theory knocking things off surfaces and watching them land.

I’m sorry for your loss of Luna. My cat is a punk. One of his favorite things to do is sit in my seat on the couch and refuse to move. He knows very well that is where I sit, but he sits there anyway and complains loudly if I try to physically move him. I’ve started just sitting on top of him to get him to move.

I am sorry for your loss. Luna sounds like a wonderful soul. We have a pet rabbit, his new trick is to jump into his litterbox (which is full of hay), make sure one of us is watching, and use his front paws to throw hay up in the air (and out of the box).

Love this. We had a girl, tia, who learned to bark quietly. She'd curl her lips over her teeth and basically bark softly into them. It was hilarious. I recently lost my rabbit Pippin, and she was such a sweetheart. She couldn't really jump so instead of binkies she would do wheelies and donuts when she got the zooms. She would also shove her head into your hand to be squeezed. Not too soft either, she wanted decent pressure and would tooth purr up a storm when you got it right. And I'm talking full hand on her head, your fingers interlocked in her ears. My boy rabbit Merry who is still with us is an imp and a scoundrel. He is so mischievous and smart and actually likes to be up high. He loves his (short) cat tree and the back of the couch and if he could figure out how to climb the Xmas tree he would. He once pretended to be a gargoyle as I frantically looked for him. He knows how to unplug the back of the TV but only does it when he's mad about something. He absolutely knows the word no, and will meet your eyes and do it anyway. Then binky and run away. He loves when I cheer him on with zoomies. Every since Pip passed, he spends part of the night on top of the cat tree, which he never did before because she couldn't jump up there with him and he never left her behind for more than a few minutes. We have a horse with a great sense of humor. She finally got me last year with a "prank" she's been trying for ages. She'll hold water in her mouth and try to drop it down your front/hands. I usually catch her at it but didn't last fall and she drenched my shirt. I had to laugh and congratulate her. Mum also jumps at them all goofy like and to help bomb proof them and Bobbi makes it a game and tries to startle her in turn sometimes. Sneaking around a corner in that obvious sort of way. It's great. We're all basically foals to her. We had a horse growing up who used to love to snap my mum's suspenders and make her squeal. You could tell he was horsey laughing every time he got her.

I'm sorry for your loss of sweet Luna. My girls like to take their (dry) food out and roll on it and frolic about. They're weirdos. It's been rainy and chilly here lately but they still get excited about going out, loads of new spring sniffs! 🌸 And rabbits to chase.

My dog is *obsessed* with our next-door neighbor's dog. They run together on either side of the fance occasionally, and she literally stares out our back windows all day looking for him. They are on vacation this week, yet she still continues to stalk him.

My dog is old, so he can jump up onto the couch but can't jump down. So he jumps up and then barks and whines when he wants to get off the couch.
