Mine was 2006's How To Eat Fried Worms, mostly because it actually didn't teach me how to eat literal fried worms, and I am still hating on it. And for some reason, whenever Get Ready for This by 2 Unlimited played in the movie, I just walk out of the room. (Good song, BTW.)
Also, WHO THE HELL WOULD EAT 15 DRIED WORMS IN 15 DAYS FOR POCKET CHANGE? What sane person would do that?
Gotta be Eragon for me. When I was a kid I feel like I never saw a bad movie, it was when I walked out of the theater for Eragon was when I realized movies could actually be really bad

Yeah everytime I criticize it i get downvoted by fans but it is clearly teenage fanfiction first time writing. Only difference is his parents had the money and published it and then marketed the hell out it and since harry potter and fantasy was the rage it managed to catch on. It did him a disservice because he didn't learn rejection or proper constructive criticism to actually improve his writing
But just because you liked something as a kid doesn't mean it was great. People just love their nostalgia goggles.

Kangaroo Jack. The trailer f****** lied. It's not about a rapping kangaroo. The movie is f****** terrible. And it's one thing to be terrible. I've seen my fair share of terrible movies. But this wasn't even the film advertised. If this had just been a terrible film about a rapping kangaroo, all would be forgiven. You gave me what you promised. But they didn't f****** do that. It was the classic bait and switch. Which is the reason why it's so hated. Yes, it's f****** terrible. But because it f****** lied.

The film was originally shot as an R rated comedy called "Down And Under" with little to do with the kangaroo. The film was then re-edited by Jerry Bruckheimer into a family friendly film, Jerry O'Connell said one of the deleted scenes was him doing a full frontal n*** scene.

Yeah the main plot of the movie is the two main characters have to deliver an envelope full of money for a drug cartel or something. One of them randomly decides to put their sweater and sunglasses on a kangaroo that’s been drugged(?) so they can take a funny picture of it. Then it wakes up and takes off, with the envelope in the pocket of the sweater. The rest of the movie is just slapstick comedy as they chase the kangaroo around and the talking part happens during a brief (drug induced?) dream segment. I only saw it the once as a kid and while I don’t remember it being terrible, it was very disappointing and overall mediocre.

I know someone that worked on it in a crew role and they actually said it was quite fun. I believe they all thought it would be a better movie than it was. I guess it really is hard to tell when you're that close to it.
They did say that no one really liked the director, apparently he was particularly arrogant and nasty to the crew and really thought this movie would be his ticket to an A list filmmaking career.

Was actually one of my better theater experiences despite the movie, because the crowd unanimously chose to turn it into a heckler's delight.
I vividly remember someone choosing to shout out a joke about pollen allergies, we laugh, whatever. Fifteen minutes later, people are getting worried, and I'm hearing "I swear to God, if it's the trees...." Then finally the reveal kicks off and the same guy who had made quip about pollen is just raging "Are you f****** *kidding* me!? I was *JOKING!!"*

1987's Creepshow 2 was only memorable to me because everyone in the audience had fun with how bad it was. It was a small theatre about half full, and everyone shouting "Thanks for the ride, lady!" and then cackling with laughter totally made the experience. You honestly should! lol the movie doesn't get any better, but the experience certainly does.
I haven't watched the movie since opening night, but I'm forever grateful that I was in the right frame of mind to properly witness Mark Wahlburg's
😮 What!? Nooo 😮
F****** funniest bit of acting I had ever seen in a modern film. It felt like witnessing history.
For any of the youth reading this, I can't express to you what a bait and switch The Happening felt like at the time. People had been waiting for Shyamalan to make one helluva comeback and prove the haters wrong. In essence, very much the "we were all rooting for you!" meme.
The Village had gotten mixed reviews, Lady in the Water was just embarrassing, but *this?* The Happening had SUCH hype behind the trailers. It had such promise, and a genuinely eerie teaser release.
Please remember that this was 2008, and most of the US was still *very* effected by the imagery of people falling from buildings. It was pretty close to taboo over here. The Happening was one of the first major films to "go there" and utilize suicide jumpers as a horror scene since 9/11.
So much about the marketing for this movie made it seem like it would not only be insanely dark, but boundary pushing, and potentially as moving and philosophical as Sixth Sense.
Obviously... No. Lol. That didn't happen.

Kind of but not, like, *technically*. At least as of the end of His Dark Materials (I still need to get to Book of Dust), it's unknown if there's an actual God (the best guess is the closest thing to God is Dust). *But* they do kill The Authority, the angel who proclaimed himself God, and his regent Metatron. The entire point of Last Jedi as near as I can tell was that anyone could be a hero in the right moment. But specifically, that the Force exists in everyone, giving everyone potential (hence the kid at the end moving the broom). It may not have been perfect, but that theme was one of the more successful ones sold.
For them to just collapse it in the followup and say, "Naw, it's just these two families, dawg," was the biggest letdown in a movie with several huge letdowns.

Mine was American Sniper. That thing is so insanely pro American and vile, that it made me really mad. Normally I can stomach the usual amount of American propaganda but this one was so awful, I hated Bradley Cooper for appearing in it. Every pro war soldier is portrayed as good, every doubtful soldier dies and Iraqis are all evil and rotten to the core. It's like a movie made in Nazi Germany. It's the only movie I actually hate.
That it came out afterwards that Chris Kyle fabricated most of his own story, is really the cherry on top.
God, I hate this movie!

Not so fun fact- One time I was arguing with my grandma about free healthcare and she cited this movie as a documentary and that I should watch it to get “the full picture”.

And what's her argument anyway? That the f****** *Iraq War* - now uniervsally known as built on lies and the second great sandy boondoggle after Afghanistan- was money (and lives) well spent?? Vs paying for universal healthcare???!

If they had made it a movie about how war fucked up a person's mental state, it would have been pretty good.
But the second they forced "America is the best country in the world" down your throat multiple times before he even joins the military just ruins it and turns into blatant propaganda.

Right? It's such a ridiculous notion. Imo it just highlights the total lack of media literacy some people have these days. The ability to look at a piece of art (be it traditional art, film, literature, music etc) and ask yourself - "what is the creator trying to convey here? What are they trying to tell me about how they see the world?" - is a grossly underrated skill, and it helps you understand the world around you better, not just critique your favourite films.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. All I knew going in was that Gualtier was doing the costuming and it was supposed to have the same vibes as The Fifth Element. It was a giant piece of hot garbage. The costuming was disappointing, the CGI was awful, the acting even worse, and the dialogue, especially for the MCs, was vomitous. I don't even remember the plot because everything else was so incredibly horrible.

It was a rare moment my dad took me to go do something that wasn't one of his interests, and I remember a quiet ride home up until I spoke about how bad the movie was and then we both just laid into it.

16

I think it *could* have been a pretty decent adaptation. The casting was fantastic and despite the odd decision to switch around the timeline of some events they were otherwise done well. It didn't *really* matter that they visited Bolvanger after Svalbard. Even the dilution of the anti-organized religion message with the rebrand to "Magisterium" could have been overcome if they hadn't overlooked one, tiny, thing:
**Where's**
**THE**
***ENDING??***
The movie just ends with them flying off into the sunset and nearly nothing is resolved. I had almost gaslit myself into thinking they hadn't filmed it before I found trailers showing scenes from the actual climax. I later learn that the producers were so up their own asses in thinking the film would do gangbusters that they *cut the final 12 minutes of the film* with the intention of playing it as the intro of the sequel! It would be akin to Fellowship of the Ring fading to black immediately after Boromir tries to take the ring and is [whimpering on the ground saying "Please Frodo."](https://youtu.be/LUZ29kEJLdE?t=169).
--------------
At least the BBC series was good. Even if there was a lack of daemons present. I get it was for budgetary reasons, but a sprinkling of real dogs, cats, and the occasional parrot in the background couldn't have been *that* outrageous.

That's a complicated one for me.
I absolutely do hate Crash.
I can't say that I hated it when I saw it in the cinema though, I just thought it was desperately shithouse.
I only came to hate it when it beat Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Good Night & Good Luck, and Munich—all movies I really liked—for Best Picture.
If not for that, I don't think I'd hate it today. In fact, I think I would have put it out of mind like every other desperately shithouse movie I've seen in my life. And that doesn't seem fair to the movie in a weird way.

Space Jam 2: A New Legacy. There's a lot of bad movies I've enjoyed. I'm a lover of terrible found footage horror movies. I actually enjoyed Rise of Skywalker (you may now point and laugh). I was aware that Gigli is bad, but it didn't stick with me.
Space Jam 2? The only good things are the 2d animation, the voice cast, and Don Cheadle knowing EXACTLY WHAT MOVIE HE IS IN. Everything else in that movie is Warner Brothers Studio furiously jorking it while staring in the mirror like Patrick Bateman during sex.

Final Fantasy: Spirits Within.
Being a huge fan of, what was then, sort of a more niche game series in my social circles at least, I was so excited that we were getting a movie about it. I naively thought that they would be adapting one of the current games and never really kept up with any information about the movie until it released.
Only for it to be barely related to Final Fantasy at all. There was a character called Sid (not the correct spelling but sure, why not) and that was it. It could have, and should have, been a standalone movie with no connection to Final Fantasy.
And the only decent character died at the end.

I’ve seen a lot of “bad” movies and while most had something I enjoyed at least a little, I cannot say that for Darkness (2002). The premise was standard haunted house stuff but the execution and acting was terrible.
Is there a mystery or strange happening? Why is it like that? Don’t worry, they’ll exposition dump to tell you what’s going on immediately. No suspense or mystery, at least past a couple of minutes.
Are we going to talk about the story and explain what’s going on? Better whisper below the music and sound effects so you can’t hear anything, even in a movie theatre.
Surely the scares are good? Not really at all. Even when they show a thing in shadows, it’s not even close to threatening or scary. It’s not even goofy so you can laugh at it. It’s just bad.
Maybe there’s a redeemable ending, a reward for putting up with this bad movie? Nope. Everyone alive probably dies, but you don’t know that because it cuts to black at the end and credits roll.
Most of the movies on this post have a redeemable a quality. A “at least it had this” or some kind of shitty detail or scene that you make fun of after the fact. Darkness does not give you even that. The only thing I have left is my hatred for this movie to the point I cannot make fun of it or laugh about my poor decisions. It’s the only movie where there was a line afterwards to get a refund and EVERYONE who went to my showing was in line for it.
Darkness is bad. Don’t watch it.
