Normalizing “just deal with it” instead of talking about mental health.

Instead we now have thousands who think normal life stress is a mental health condition,

Also, people who believe therapy is exclusive for people with severe mental illness and you'd exit the place in a strait white jacket after your first appointment...
And that all mental illness boiled down to psychopathy and murder...(although I could meet with someone who thought this back in mid 2010s...)

The first thing you hear when entering a restaurant is "smoking or nonsmoking section?" As if a flimsy barrier, if they even have one, is enough to protect from second hand smoke.

Diets back then were focused more on counting calories rather than changing habits or improving food quality. Most people on “diets” just forced themselves to go hungry. They weren’t on a diet in any nutritional sense.
1

Ah that sound bad
1
LtimboApr 3, 2026

Yeah nutrition science was way behind. There were lots of “fat free” options for common foods back then because on paper they had a lower calorie content but weren’t actually good for you or contributed to weight loss. I don’t think they even sell those options anymore. And white bread was considered healthy.

Clinton and Carville pushing the Democrats to the right, effectively making to Republican parties. We're still dealing with the repercussions of that. We have a shitton of Democrats who are only marginally better than Republicans and a shitton of Democrats who refuse to stand up to the GOP and stand up for the working classes.

Homophobia was still pretty bad back then. Gay people were starting to get more exposure and acceptance but they were still largely ostracized from social settings. Trans people were almost entirely closeted. Casual racism was very common. Consumer Electronics were ungodly expensive (but housing was so c**** that people could afford the extra cost).

You could see the haze of smog as soon as you got within 50km of a city. You'd see it well before the skyline.
