The movie "Waking Life" is one I don't hear enough people talk about. It's animated in this trippy rotoscope style and basically just explores consciousness and dreaming. It messes with your head in the best way.

The Vast of Night. This is an amazing indie movie, which is a mix of Twilight Zone and Steven Spielberg's Taken, with some amazing dialogue, David Finch style—great, great hidden gem.

I love the movie Rubber, and most of the movies by Quentin Dupieux. They are definitely unique and not for everyone

"Ñache" by Cristián Geisse Navarro, a Chilean book made up of three stories ("Have You Ever Seen a God Die?", "Marambio", and "The Black Rooster") about people spiraling into addiction, hallucinations, and despair, where reality slowly breaks apart and even the supernatural begins to feel real.
