Had a flight delayed 6 hours once and this random passenger started doing stand-up comedy in the gate area. Dude was actually killing it, had like 200 people cracking up about airline food and crying babies. By the time we boarded everyone was friends and the crew was giving out free drinks left and right
The whole thing was pure magic but if you tried to explain it to someone who wasn't there they'd just be like "ok cool story bro"

The early internet before social media took over. It was just weird personal websites and obscure forums. You can't really explain the vibe to people who weren't online then.

About 11 years ago, right before I got pregnant and after I got married, I went with my husband and a group of friends over to the island of Lanai (we live on Maui). We were camping 9n the beach but walked up and ate at this very fancy hotel restaurant.
After hanging out at some sun chairs, on a hillside overlooking the ocean, we started walking back down this cliffside to the beach. Most people had already left. My husband and I had hung back with one or two people, but at one point, I decided to wander down the path.
I was pretty much by myself as no one was near me and there were no trees or anything so no one could be hiding anywhere. I got this familiar scent that hit me like a truck. Some familiar plant scent.
I stopped in my tracks. It reminded me of something that I smelled from my childhood. I slowly turned, and I faced the ocean, breathing it in, and all of a sudden, it was like a very tiny pebble jumped up from the ground, off the path where some grasses and low bushes were. From about four feet away this thing went "thunk!", and hit me directly in between the eyes on my forehead.
I don't know if it was a lizard that, like, jumped up and it caused a pebble to, like, catapult off a leaf or what. It felt like the universe saying 'Wake TF Up!" And it has haunted me ever since.
I don't know what the odds are of me smelling something like that, stopping in my tracks, turning just so, and have a pebble just jump up and hit me in between the eyes.
I've tried to explain the intensity of the feeling and experience to people, and they're just like, "That's weird...anyway..."

I remember the first time I went to a funeral. I was around seven or eight. That was when I first realized some people can disappear forever. I was really scared. I was even afraid to go to sleep because I thought I might not wake up.

One time I was lying in bed and my mind just suddenly comprehended oblivion. It shook me so badly I had to move to the kitchen, boot up my laptop, and spend hours browsing imgur until dawn.
Every so often that memory of understanding what it truly means to not exist comes back to me. It's usually lurking just below the surface and I can bury it but sometimes it peaks out and overwhelms me.

A chatroom (MOO) I used to live in had a happy-new-year style celebration when the UNIX timestamp reached 987654321, another when it reached 1000000000, and again when it reached 1111111111, and yet again at 1234567890.
These milestones spanned the entire decade of the 2000s. I still have a screenshot of one of these events, somewhere in my databanks.

Recently my local zoo redesigned the primate exhibit so the animals had a choice of staying inside or going outside. One of the gorillas was sitting by the observation glass chilling when it stuck a finger in it's butt and licked the same finger. I was with my Mom at the time and we both started gagging.

I got lost, I didn't know which way to go
I was confused, it was late, and I was in a fog
