The way we let algorithms decide what we see and believe. Future generations are going to look back at this era like we look at leaded gasoline. Just a collective "what were we thinking."

The 2016 election was a decade ago and people still believe in shit they read then. Until Congress rewrites section 230, we’re going to be living with the gullible and incurious morons.

Sorry, but The Terminator turned out be a very very accurate prediction and there is no humanity left. Thank you and have a good day.

people are gonna look back at social media trends and just shake their heads, like the obsession with “influencers” or those weird TikTok challenges. big yikes.

you are optimistic. I think influencers and those silly trends could be core to society in 20 years, provided we don’t have a Butlarian Jihad/turn away from social media as a society

The way we let toddlers have iPad access 24/7. We’re basically running a massive social experiment on brain development and we have no idea what the long-term fallout is gonna be

Yes we do, it's been shown to cause addiction. So mini drug addicts running around and screaming when things aren't immediate. Worse without context, language or frontal lobe development

Donald Trump’s presidency

probably how normal it felt to put private life online for engagement.

Agreed. Especially with the rise of AI that can impersonate you, your voice and your image.

Probably the fact that we just gave up all our privacy for a bit of convenience. We literally pay companies to put microphones in our kitchens and bedrooms. It's wild if you think about it

Hopefully all of it. Worst decade ever.

The crazy thing is people will look back at this in 20 years and think 'those were the good old days' poor saps.

This is possibly the worst case scenario other than 'the beginning of the end'

Could be more important than ever in 20 years. Especially if the concept of a social score is put in place.

We’re probably gonna cringe at how we traded real-life experiences for scrolling 6–8 hours a day and calling it ‘relaxing’ 💀

God damn if that ain’t the truth. I deleted all social media (besides Listnook) for this exact reason. Caught myself dreaming to much about doing things I saw online instead of going out and doing them.

So now instead of wasting your life on several apps you waste it on one!

Seriously though idk what’s wrong with me, my mom said that exact thing when I visited a couple weeks back.

Plastic is everywhere, a world of disposable items, and "eco-friendliness" in name only.

Probably how normal we accepted being constantly online and tracked everywhere future people will treat it like we treat pop-up ads now.

The 'Main Character' trend where people record themselves being disruptive in public for 15 seconds of fame. It's going to be so incredibly awkward to watch in a few years

COVID-19 and forced vaccinations. I am pro-vaccines, I got the shots and boosters but the “get vaccinated or risk losing your jobs, your sense of security and normalcy” was really messed up! I can understand why it didn’t sit right with many people and I think about how little room there was to push back! Future generations are going to ask how billions of people felt they had no choice but to comply.

Those are looked upon quite fondly currently, I think the nostalgia will grow even more in 2 decades for a certain generation.
