Save part of your salary each month, get a good skincare routine, and go to the gym 3-4 times per week

invest part of your salary...

Yes this is better but can sound intimidating to an 18 year old, emergency fund first then invest
1
Slight-Structure-553 Apr 1, 2026 +1
how to though? it's always invest but how do we invest lol

Financial advisor!! Trust

squ1bs Apr 1, 2026 +1
S&P 500 has always given good returns over a sufficient period. You'll see a big climb over 5-10 years, a much smaller crash over a year or 2, rinse and repeat

Don’t waste money on a financial advisor, invest your money into a global index fund or the S+P 500, in a Roth IRA if you’re American, or a stocks and shares ISA if you’re in the UK

>get a good skincare routine What does this matter?

CamelZealousideal330 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Protect your skin from the sun, so they don’t look 50 at 30, it’s also good to practice self care, even as a man

puresteelpaladin Apr 1, 2026 +1

Workout. Start taking care of your joints and skin. They age quicker than you think.

Make mistakes being bold while you're young. For instance, you can go to Hollywood, wait tables and try to make it as an actor when you're 22. You probably won't be able to do this when you're 42. Sometimes the bold failures of your youth can prove more valuable than safe successes later in life.

Start saving for retirement.

Frankly, delete your listnook account and never come back. In recent years, this site has become a goalpost-shifting, holier-than-thou shamefest of random bots and nobodies who all think they know better than you. Delete your listnook account, and basically all social media for that matter, and watch your mental health improve overnight.

You always have a choice. Don't let anyone, even yourself, tell you otherwise.

There is no difference between being 18 and 17 or 19. Nothing changed except the government for some reason considered turning 18 means u’re an adult now lol

Take advantage of this stage of life to enjoy yourself, so that when you reach 25, you will be a sensible man and not a child just starting to live.

I hope you know a good trade, life is tough without a good job. Don't marry to young and don't have babies yet, that would ruin your life at this age.
1
Hi5ive81 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Don’t do drugs and don’t only hang out with people who do, I got caught up in some bad habits that I still struggle with because of some very good friends who happened to also smoke a bunch. Also, utilise the circumstances you find yourself in to meet anyone and everyone, and use THAT opportunity to spread kindness

Start a Roth IRA. Realize that although you're legally an adult, you're still just a teenager. If you're going to call yourself an adult, understand you're a baby adult.

Money won't make you happy but it does solve problems. Learn to trade equities (just slow swing trading because you have decades so no WSB) Start businesses and if you want to sell them. I push this on my son and believe it to be good advice. The best investment you will ever make is in yourself.

>Money won't make you happy but it does solve problems Idk, solving my problems makes me pretty damn happy.
1
Nelsonsrightknacker Apr 1, 2026 +1
Great news, happy for you. Anyway money is over rated and a burden. Please allow me to relieve you of that burden. :)

puresteelpaladin Apr 1, 2026 +1
>Anyway money is over rated and a burden. One of the most ignorant and out of touch things I've ever read.

Before you spend one dime of money from a pay check. Take 10% and invest every week. If you get a chance to join a union and learn a trade. Do it AI is a long way off from working in place of tradesmen

Don’t be in such a rush to have your "forever" life figured out. Most people in their 30s are still figuring out what they want to be when they grow up. Just focus on not getting into massive debt.

Life isn’t fair and get over it. There will always be someone who had a better chance or knew someone who gave them help or whatever it may be. Life is peaks and valleys and neither last forever. Be happy for what you have there are a lot of people who have it better than you and a lot that are worse off then you.

1) Take care of your body 2) Start looking into your tax free investing. If you start now you’ll be way ahead in your 30s 3) Take school and your career path seriously. Work hard and play hard but don’t forget to set a foundation for your future no matter how far long it seems 4) Remember you’re not invincible
