There are better games than this, but I don't think anything will ever capture the magic of Pokemon Red/Blue and challenging your friends via link cable. Everything was so new and fresh. Lots of good memories.

Definitely, I remember when I first played it, just after Maxx was released, and making the trip on foot from Stormwind to Ironforge via Redridge and up through the burning steppes and the badlands, as like a level 4-5 toon, and just in awe of the scope and wonder of it all.

Yea, nothing compares to the awe of wow on release. I was rather young and I remember when my brother and I were in raid and we had to eat dinner, we would both countdown, then unplug our internet and pretend to be disconnected for 10-15 minutes while scarfing down our food. Or when someone called our home phone and we both ran downstairs to ask if it was urgent (we were insistent but never threw fits or anything, our parents were aware of how things worked and were considerate too). We had a mutual agreement with our parents on both ends, so they were reasonable about it.
I played for a long while after, took a break, played some more after a few years, played way too much classic relaunch...but still there's nothing that compares to og classic (and honestly up until the end of wrath of the lich king).

Halo 3. Halo 3 on xbox live was so special. That game came out when I was in 8th grade and I just have so many great memories associated with it. Spending all day with my friends that summer, and then immediately hoping on the game when we got home and staying up till 4am playing. What a time

Just for the sheer amount of memories I made on that game, I have to agree. So many custom games with so many people playing all the time.
If they were to ever release Halo 3 with a remaster to get the modern audience without touching the fundamentals of the game itself, they’d make millions

My guess is the CE remake that's coming out this year is testing the waters to see if they can make Halo the f****** powerhouse it used to be. I'm fine with them adding some modern day mechanics if it gets people playing especially cause they can be turned off.
The custom games were so special. Knowing someone who had a modded Xbox and then really going crazy on forge mode was so much fun. I remember my friends and I stayed up all night making what was like our version of a Tony Hawk skatepark but for Mongooses.
Crazy how an almost 20 year old game holds up against modern FPS games

Bloodborne. It’s the Soulsborne formula but gothic and lovecraftian, faster-paced, with more interesting weapons that have larger movesets, and overall better combat than Dark Souls while still keeping RPG mechanics unlike Sekiro.

Starting a new World of Warcraft expansion after not playing for a while hits like literal heroine to me. Just so much to do, so much to explore, a hundred "deep" systems you can spend hours and hours doing. Fishing, gathering, crafting, leveling, dungeons, delves, prey (new), world quests, gearing up, pvp, achievement hunting, mount hunting, pet battles, guild stuff, etc. Multiply that by however many alts you want to run. I started playing in legion for the first time and it caused weeks (if not months) of all-nighters every single weekend. Had to quit for my own health. I just picked it back up the day this new expansion dropped and I've been playing 12-14 hours/day while working from home. Its so addictive and unhealthy, but so incredible at the same time.

The music, the gameplay and the story are all phenomenal and at the time the FMVs and alongside the battle graphics were like nothing else in its genre. Compare it to Wild Arms, of the same year (which I also loved) and it’s like night and day.
It had a four year dev cycle, which was unheard of in the 90s when most games took about one year. Because of this the amount of content is staggering and each character feels fully fleshed out. You got to traverse on land, under the sea and in the air.
This is all without going into the story, while the translation has its ups and downs it still easily conveys a tale full of heart which still gets me excited to play it again almost yearly. I could talk for hours about how great the story is but this is already getting long.
I miss 90s Squaresoft

League of Legends, but it has timer on it. The best feeling is when you feel yourself getting better(the game has a lot of mechanics, nuance you need to learn and applying it successfully in-game feels great). This naturally leads to you winning more often. The level of addiction truly insane. It got so bad I used to dream about playing LOL. I would try to quit so many times but my resolve was completely gone the second I woke up the next day. It didn't matter how many times I lost the day before, I was so convinced today was gonna be different. Then, when you plateau, it starts to numb you out until you feel nothing inside and become a husk of a man. You just become a zombie, unable to quit this shitty game even though it stopped being fun a long time ago.

Halo CE
1) It brought a TON of people together at my school. Every school had their cliques, but so many kids played Halo that it mixed the friends groups together. I went to so many LAN parties with so many different groups of people; it was such a great time in life. The best was when people set up a 1v1 tournament and I came out in 1st! (which meant diddly squat when I eventually found out there were FAR better people online in Halo 2-3)
2) Playing with my dad. He never really took an interest in things I liked (family of mechanics and car people whereas I was more into animation and gaming) but he loved Halo and played with me (and he eventually beat Halo on Legendary solo/ with me grabbing the controller and helping a couple of times).
It's crazy that it's been 25ish years. We're all so much older and the world is so much different.

It was 2015, bloodborne just released. I was avoiding seeing any gameplay online and bought the game instantly without thinking.
No doubt, it was the best experience of video games I ever had.
Including games that released that year which adds up that the year 2015 was something special. Battlefield: Hardline, FIFA15, Witcher 3 etc

I am playing high on life at the moment, I find it pretty awesome because I'm never feeling playing it alone, I feel like there's someone always with me ( my talking guns).
