I used to think growing up would be the best thing ever, hahaha. But man, the responsibilities are killing me. I kept imagining what 2020 would be like, thinking the world would be super high-tech, with flying cars and everything… 😅 I was born in 1999, by the way.

God was real. Hear me out. I was all in on the "God is very big and very powerful" narrative. 100% in, hook, line, sinker. One day my grandmother asked me on the way back from church what I thought God looked like. "He looks like Godzilla!" She just sat there in kinda confused horror. I 100% thought that "God" was just short for Godzilla, and was hyped that my favorite dude from the movies was apparently way more powerful and cool than he let on. Shortly after I stopped caring about going to church and stuff because it wasn't about my big radioactive lizard dude anymore.

The most qualified person gets the job.

That the spray savlon was in fact magical spray that made everything better. My mum had me and half the street believing it. To the point they'd come to my house even if they weren't playing with me, for my mum to deal with the fact they fell, because she was the only one with "the magic spray" and their parents couldn't figure out what the spray was.

That there was a time, years ago, it used to be black and white. For everyone. Then one day the world became color. Thank you very much old movies.

My mother told us we shouldn't eat the seeds of watermelons or a tree would grow from the stomach. Let me tell you it was well over a decade before I found out it was untrue and that I'd been spitting my seeds whilst eating watermelon for no reason. Edit- it was my mum who told me it wasn't true btw! She had said it in passing as a joke which my older sister had also repeated to me and I just never realised lol

I got a lot of ear infections as a kid. My dad told me that the buzzing I heard laying on the heating pad was my ear healing. It was in fact a short in the heating pad!

A bunch of stuff, not really sure what the dumbest here is -Toothpaste removes scratches from screens -Sniffing disinfectant makes you drunk -You can just cross the road wherever you want -Eating a chocolate bar causes car doors to unlock (when I was very young) -Installing apps on a tablet is insanely complicated and expensive -You don’t need good grades to get a job if you’re qualified -Installing a 16+ game from the App Store causes the police to come to your house

That other peoples opinion on what is cool should affect what I thought was cool.
