Super random question:
Do you have funny memories of your mom or grandma taking forever to get ready before leaving, especially for trips?
Like specific habits that always delayed everything for no reason, but became family folklore?
Lmao, why's it gotta be a woman? Plenty of families late to shit because dad or grandpa were told everyone was ready to walk out the door and said, "cool, I'm just gonna jump in the shower real quick" or knows the plan is to leave soon and suddenly gets the motivation to "patch that hole in the basement wall nobody ever sees".

my grandma’s version of “we’re leaving in 5 minutes” always included one completely unnecessary side quest. suddenly she needed to water a plant, wrap leftovers, find a different cardigan, and check if the back door was locked 3 separate times.
by the end of it, all of us were already emotionally at the destination. LMAO

My mom has been late to every funeral I've attended with her that i can remember, and will surely be late to her own funeral 😄

I would get ready and be at the door at the time we we supposed to leave, then wait for my mom to get ready...after 10 minutes or so I'd get bored and go sit down or something and watch her run around. After a while I'd point out we were late, and she'd say she hadn't left yet because she didn't see me ready at the door to leave 😭

My Mom wasn't the holdup. She used to call it "practicing leaving" because she and I would be all ready to leave somewhere and she'd have given the "we're leaving in 5 minutes" notice but my Dad would still be busy bullshitting so we'd sit in the car waiting for another 30 minutes. My aunts who were married to my Dad's brothers all did the same "practice leaving" thing so I guess it was a family trait.
