Been doing this since my army days and it's wild how much money you save. Fixed my wife's laptop last week instead of buying a new one - just needed thermal paste and some compressed air

My gf's macbook battery bloated up and she was about to take to a safe disposal facility. bought a new battery for 20 bucks, half an hour of work and it was back to normal. The first rule for anything broken in my house is "what do we need to fix it"

I love doing this, it's so satisfying when you're successful. Fixed the fridge at my work a few months ago with a $15 part, and just a couple days ago fixed my thousand dollar Samsung washing machine with a $35 part. It's amazing what you can fix with just a little bit of research and some elbow grease.

Paint-by-numbers or adult coloring books. We’ve been conditioned to think that a hobby has to lead to 'mastery' or a side hustle. There is something profoundly healing about sitting down for two hours, following a simple set of instructions, and ending up with something pretty.

Birdwatching. Not in a retiree-with-binoculars stereotype way, but just paying attention to the birds around you wherever you are. It turns walks, coffee runs, even sitting in traffic into something way more interesting.

I agree. And it’s so cool to figure out when birds or animals are watching each other or are thinking they are hidden from you. It’s good to wear a hat if you’re watching them, say at a mud puddle, many birds will come and go but if they don’t see your eyes they’ll relax.

Raising chickens. It's fun, easy, relaxing; and let's face it, the end of society as we once knew it is now upon us, and during the apocalypse, owning a nice flock of chickens will come in handy.

My landlord in uni had chickens and geese in his garden. He told me how one of the geese bit him and since he was a butcher, he just turned it into a roast. I also know of a company owner keeping geese as guard animals on his commercial property. They are loud, territorial, and vicious, and very effective.

We have chickens. Some are super sweet and friendly, some are nice but don’t want to be touched and avoid you at all costs. Some roosters can be buck assholes, but a rooster’s job is to protect his flock. If he’s being mean to people it’s because he views them as a threat to his girls.

It is sooooo much fun!
Down here in FL, they have a this place where you pay a $20 admission and you play all day. The games are all on free play. I was just there this oast weekend in Del Ray Beach. It's called, "The Silverball Retro Arcade". So much fun.
They have skeeball, basketball hoop shot games.
Pitch and bat baseball machines. A ton of pinball machines of all eras, as well as video game machines from the 1980s up.
So much fun.

That sounds like a dream! They have a couple of places in my area but I don't think they are all you can play for pinball. There are some arcades like that but pinball is still like 50 cents a game

If we lived near eachother, I'd meet you at the Pinball Arcade. That'd be a safe space with tons of people around, so you'd be relaxed abd we'd have fun playing laughing. 🙂
I'm so glad you're not working that much anymore. That's crazy. You're need time for yourself too. Life goes by in a blur. So make sure you're taking plenty of time out for yourself, your family and your friends.

Thank you! It took me too long to realize that while I was indeed making a $hit ton of money to be able to do all the things my family wanted, I was missing out and not seeing a lot of things that were happening. It's a strange feeling not being constantly on the go and weighed down but I am starting to feel lighter.

They're so much fun.
I have 9 machines.
Most people don't even know that they're still being made. They have big LED screens in them, Shaker motors that vibrate the machine, and all kinds of stuff.
YouTube machines like... "2025 Avatar Limited Pinball Machine".
"2025 King Kong Limited Pinball Machine".
"2023 Godzilla Limited pinball"
"2021 Guns N Roses Limited pinball"
"2025 Jaws Limited Edition pinball".
Those are just a few of the newest and most awesome pins out there.
I own Limited Godzilla and GnR Pinball machines. They're awesome.

Yeah, and what's crazy is... I just bought a new home and I am selling 4 of my machines next weekend up North at the Pintastic Pinball Expo. I need $$$, so I am selling my LOTR, Pinball Magic, Last Action Hero, and my Wheel of Fortune. Those should bring in $30k.
I need the money to put towards my new home which is slated to be completed in Sept/Oct.
Down the line I'll by more to replace them.
I've bought and sold several machines over the years, so it is what it is.

Wow, congrats on the new home! That’s a huge milestone. Selling those 4 machines for $30k is seriously impressive—it really shows the incredible value of a well-curated collection.
