I once memorized the periodic table just to impress my crush, and now I can’t even remember my own grocery list!

"Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell" - And I majored in biology. It's basically a meme that doesn't tell you anything except very general and superficial knowledge.

honestly, it was all those random periodic table elements, like who even needs to know the atomic number of europium in real life?

A bunch of useless dates in history class, without any historical context.

*The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. Still remember it. Still useless.*

The whole test - Once I had a final where the teacher gave us a study guide beforehand; ended up being the actual test. I memorized the first 3 words of every question & the respective multiple choice answer. Anyways I finished the test in 5 minutes (I think it was 100 questions or something) and walked out with a perfect score. Hahah. It was cool

The specific heat capacity of water is 4.184 Joules. I’m 32 now. I’ve never once needed to calculate how much energy is required to raise the temperature of my coffee by one degree. I just put it in the microwave and press the "+30" button until it's hot enough to melt my soul.

I don't remember anything I memorized. It's gone within a week of studying it. I can recall movies I saw 20 years ago in detail, but I can't remember academic things I've studied, people's names or faces. Learning a foreign language (or even a programming language) is difficult for me because I can't keep enough vocabulary or random syntax/rules/libraries in my head.
