A rock that I considered lucky. I put it in my lucky rock collection back in 3rd grade, I think?
Anyway, fast forward 9 or so years, and it's in my backpack. My Earth Science teacher tells me to take out a rock and place it on the ground, so I did. She takes out a HAMMER and smashes it. It split into 2 pieces, and the inside was this clear-ish crystal formation. Apparently I now have 2 lucky quartzites. For some reason, I still have them.

I have a sticky note from a high school exam that my teacher left on the first page, it says “good luck, you got this!”
I’ve had it for over 10 years now, eventually had it laminated, and keep it in the photo sleeve In my wallet.
A few years ago I emailed him about it with a photo of it, and he said he was in tears from my kind words and that he has been going through a lot and that this meant a lot to him knowing he’s made a difference, and was happy I reached out.
He was one of the best teachers I ever had and I often think of him and hope he’s doing well now.

For years I kept a Sony internal card reader I had no use for. Eventually ended up the computer I have now, and I occasionally use it for the USB port.

A box of glass stems that are used to make a crack pipe. I quit doing that stuff 13 years ago. I keep them because as long as I have them, I’ll never need them. If I throw them out, I may one day wish I had them.

I have a “Fred” plastic water bottle. It was a company that made flask shaped water bottles. I’ve got 2 and have washed and reused them for over 12 years.

Emergency drinks in my car, in case of a breakdown.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not talking about alcoholic beverages. I mean fluids so you don't die of dehydration when stranded for an extended period.

A shattered plastic piece that belonged to the case of a mathematical tool set. It doesn't have any sentimental value I just like the shape of it. I've imagined it to be a boat, an arm sling, armour, a sleeve of a Japanese style dress and razor bottomed dancing shoes. I seem to be drawn to random things that spark my creativity. I have a whole collection of random items including but not limited to a piece of foil, a rock, a legless horse toy, a toy train sign thingy, bent coat hangers, plastic hanger hook things for socks.

When I was 10 years old I bought a can of sunshine at a garage sale, I’ll be 45 this year and it’s still sitting on my book shelf.

An almost perfectly round white rock I found in the middle of the woods when I was 11. I've had people tell me it's a piece from a game that native Americans played.

Back in the early 70s when I was a little kid I made a ridiculous little papier mache horned monster thing in art class. It's ugly and silly and it's still sitting on my bookshelf.

A fridge magnet from a girl I had a crush on in middle school. I'm in my 30s. I don't even know why I kept it, but at this point it's one of, if not my oldest possession so it stays.
