What's the worst scam you've ever fallen for?

Dating apps. They're an exhausting hellscape.

The marriage/divorce industry. The wedding was expensive. The (contested) divorce cost more *and* lasted longer. There was no meaningful difference in my life or relationship before or after the marriage, it just changed the way the law required us to handle the breakup - and whether it becomes part of the public record. It's absolutely not worth it.

Catfish. Their pictures were from 10-15 years ago. They looked young for their age in the pictures. Turns out their pictures were from their 20’s & 30’s and they were actually in their late 40’s. I look half my age; so i thought i had met someone who was similar, turns out they got more attention by using their old photos and claimed “they still look the same” No they did not. Make sure you check carefully before meeting up with anyone you meet online.
