We all have those films. You know the ones. Had a bad day at work. Been fighting with your partner. You’re just feeling melancholy. Life’s not going your way and you need a pick me up. A film to liven the spirit and give you a smile and some hope. Some of mine happen to be the rescuers (1977), castaway (2000), and the secret life of Walter Mitty(2013). so I’m curious what’s some of your comfort movies. Those go to feel goods.
Chef. Zero villains, just good food and people being decent for 2 hours.

Lately, it has been the second restoration on Blu-Ray and 4K of the Director's Cut of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." I love putting it on and building Lego sets. The moderate pacing really vibes with carefully following the instructions.

There was a period after we got married when we didn't have cable and streaming wasn't a thing yet. And we had maybe 12 DVDs. I watched I Am Legend, Finding Nemo, and The Dark Knight over and over and over and over and now all three are like a warm blanket.

These are two that are not in the mainstream at all:
The Magic of Belle Isle: Monte Wildhorn is a disabled baseball pitcher turned Western Novelist, at the end of his lease on life when he meets Ms Finegan O'neal. A rather precocious 12 year old whom he has to teach imagination. Filled with the most ecclectic cast and brimming with adventures, Monte finds a new lease on life.
*The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel* (2011) is a heartwarming, comedic drama about seven British retirees who move to a dilapidated hotel in Jaipur, India, for a "cheaper" retirement. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast, the film highlights themes of love, second chances, and personal reinvention, providing an uplifting, feel-good story that celebrates life's later years and Indian culture.

I was going to say The Rescuers! Picked up the Blu-Ray after having not seen the film for about 15+ years and was utterly mesmerised by it.
Might as well also say, 101 Dalmatians. Love that movie and I usually watch it with The Rescuers as a double-feature.
