What’s your screentime?

Posted by Living134340

Hello people! I’ve been going around thinking about screentime lately, the only social medias I have are Listnook, YouTube and Pinterest, even so, as I looked at my screentime average , it said about 5hours/day. Sounds much? I know! I was very confused, ok but turns out I just read on very much on my phone and watch yt videos while eating dinner. Would you still consider this using too much screen or is reading on your phone still in the category of alright. Well anyways curious what everyone’s screentime is and if you have any explanations on what you do on your phones?

I personally waste that much time on mine scrolling listnook and whatnot. And it really is a waste of time. My friends hardly ever post so I'm looking at AI and strangers. I bought myself a kindle so I didn't have that excuse and could read without the temptation to check my email.

As of today, I'm uninstalling Facebook and Instagram cause everything is so repetitive and pretty much dumb. Listnook is my favorite and Pinterest. I'm ashamed to say I average about 4 hours a day on my phone which is awful. I have a 4 year old and he sees mama on her phone all the time, that's just wrong on so many levels. He loves Youtube but I limit it (Kids Youtube of course). Most videos are pretty dumb and that doesn't help his brain at all I'm honestly so so so sick of my phone but I have this terrible addiction.... I'm a 42F and grew up before all that nonsense and I miss those easier, simple times. I want to get back to that, best as possible. I'm rotting my brain and truly wasting this beautiful life I have. I just have to make a conscious effort. I can't keep putting it off. I have so many hobbies and interests too, I have no excuse to rot on my phone. I'm sorry I'm not much help but hopefully you get good advice from others, I'll look forward to it as well. Good luck! (Also, I think there's nothing wrong with watching YouTube while you eat. It's just like having a show or movie on)

Yes uninstalling apps is the first step, I had locked all my socials behind a code that only my sister knew, and it’s made such a difference for me, although I have never had tiktok or been on Instagram, but I used to spend much time on Twitter, after locking it I have very much time to do else. It’s honestly the first week that’s the hardest but after that you kind of forget about them and then they don’t seem all that interesting. You can do this also!

I don't want to check but I'm sure today's less than most days because I was out and about.

Around 15 hours from yesterday to now. It's very unusual. But my own content puts me in a hyper fixation spell sometimes. Especially if it's a topic I'm passionate about. (I advocate for underdogs in society both irl and online and write about that) If it's civil in the comments it feels like a well made investment of my time, but if a herd of haters shows up it feels like I just gave hate a mic. (Plus I have mental health struggles so ideally I shouldn't put myself at risk.) Thankfully this is an exception in my lifestyle. I normally don't go online when it's close to bed time.
