Who is the most reprehensible character in an otherwise wholesome show?

Could also just be a character that’s morally bankrupt, chaotic evil, or just the worst in general.

Rupert really was a villain, but the more insidious character is the Lassos' marriage councilor, Dr. Jacob, who chose to date and then move in with a former client. He then had the temerity to travel with her on a transatlantic trip to drop off the kid with the not even ex-husband and go on a romantic vacation to Paris. I'm shocked the airline didn't request he buy an extra seat for his giant balls.

That plot twist always pissed me off. They had such a nuanced take the first two seasons on divorces where no one is the bad guy, and how therapy and couples therapy can be incredibly hard for people, and then totally undermined it with the whole “actually yeah he wanted to f*** Ted’s wife” storyline the third season. Season 3 had some great moments but that plot line and a few others really soured me

Season 2 was already a drop from Season 1, and but really there was little prep for the drop of Season 3. Showrunners evidently didn't think there was anything weird in Ted's wife marrying their therapist. Like ... doesn't _anyone_ check this stuff?

He didnt just choose to date Ted's wife, he was her therapist for years before being their marriage counselor, which that alone is terrible. Then he suggests Ted takes the job in Europe to give her space, so he can swoop in. It makes Rupert look like a damn saint in comparison

Anthony Head is awesome as Giles, but he's also equally good at playing ruthless jerks you love to hate. Uther from BBC Merlin is another example of a role like that.

He’s worse than that. He was her personal therapist for years, then didn’t refuse to be a couple’s counsellor, then suggested separation, then started dating his client. He doesn’t just need to have his license removed, he deserves to be sued into oblivion.

I think quite a lot of the characters on there would be absolute f****** ballaches to be around in real life. Quite how the show manages to make them likeable is a testament to the writing I suppose. Ron Swanson, exhausting. Andy Dwyer, infuriatingly childish. April Ludgate, would make my eyes roll out of the room.

Most people are difficult to be around in the workplace setting though. I've always thought Donna is completely different off the clock. Severance is a big in your face metaphor but the masking for a job is something a lot of people don't realize. I don't want to work. We are not a family. I still pretend every morning on my way in so I can pay bills.

Another good example. I think the absolute unhinged lunatics of Pawnee mean the mad main characters seem less crazy. I also wish, and I know I'm alone in this, that Mark would have stayed. I think the show would have benefitted from another straight-man character, especially someone as dry and sarcastic as him.

Idk I think the Langmans were the worst, since they constantly campaigned against whatever Leslie and the Parks department did and actively hurt the town. Like when the Langmans complained to Chris that Leslie and the health department were teaching senior citizens about sex ed and the Langmans put a stop to that because Pawnee was an abstinence-only city despite the high cases of STDs in town. Most of what the Sapersteins did was pretty much against Tom

Most of these are just annoying characters that people don't like, so I'll give a real terrible person answer. Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt kidnapped and held 4 woman hostage for 15 years and atleast one of them was under 18... it was heavily implied but never confirmed, as it's a quirky surrealist comedy from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, that he sexually abused Kimmy as well.

When questioned, kimmy angrily says "of course there was sex stuff" and forces herself to calm down and get back to her usual attitude, which is her coping mechanism. It is more than implied. Amazing show, i watched it a few times, may be time for another.

This is similar to the Brooklyn 99 recurring cannibal character. It's Tim Meadows and the bit is that he's Jake's best prison buddy but they joke about him killing and eating children. It's very dark for an otherwise very safe pg show.

I grew up watching reruns of the original, Smith wasn't that bad from what I remember. I was a kid, it wouldn't really have fazed me, I guess, but I actually quit watching the Netflix series in season 1 because I couldn't handle how awful Smith was, and I love Parker Posey.

In one of the more recent episodes, Barbara calls her a bad principal, and we’re supposed to be somewhat shocked by that…but she frequently is a bad principal. She was not qualified for the position, and she makes choices that benefit her and not the students all the time. (You’re right that is her charm though. It’s just funny we’re supposed to see that as too far, but Barbara was right!)

Tom at least is capable of failing and is not always written to be right at everything. I love B99 but the only bad thing that happens to Gina is getting hit by a bus and that goes away after a few episodes. Otherwise it’s everyone else saying “wow I can’t believe you were right Gina” and she says “of course I was right and you were stupid to ever doubt me”

Roland does grow on me by midway into the third or fourth season, I’ll admit, but it’s mostly because he becomes the butt of the jokes instead of the direct antagonist. At least, most of the time. Even with the laughs I’ll admit he gives me at times, I still don’t like the character.

I just watched the episode where she's arrested in Mexico and has to defend herself in Spanish. One of my favorite gags in the show.

Yeah, he's cartoonishly evil. But also incredibly friendly, and is *very* patient with the Belchers considering they're never on time with the rent (I think my favorite headcanon for the show is that they're secretly his favorite tenants, which is why he's always giving them chances to work off their rent money through his favors). The accountant guy sucks, though. I know Bob and Linda aren't exactly model bank members, but there's no reason to be such a d*** to them when they're trying to run a small business with three kids and no money. Plus he never really gets any comeuppance, compared to some of the other jerks on the show where karma makes them more bearable.

Mrs. Caruthers pretty much sexually harassed Joey on Full House, and it always creeped me out. Also, watching it back, Jesse was oftentimes a controlling d*** to Becky.

Ehhh i think Hoynes does swallow a fair amount from the first Bartlett term, then rightly tenders his resignation when the first sex scandal breaks (and it broke because the mistress wanted a book deal). Hoynes aint great, but many people in Hoynes shoes would walk a worse path. Plus Hoynes, outside the affairs, was an effective politician who genuinely improves the Bartlet white house.

Yeah, Tom was mostly someone I wouldn’t want to be around. Conversely, I really enjoyed watching Dev, Aziz’s character on Master of None. Far more sympathetic.

Murder, She Wrote is a series that is fairly light in drama. Sure, people keep dying but that's part of the premise. Usually, even if there's a villain in the episode, you can at least sympathise with their motives and each episode has Jessica help exonerate people falsely accused of crimes and otherwise totally innocent. ...most of the time. One episode has Jessica's niece's fiancé being accused of killing his boss at the c***** where the two worked... and part of what kicks off the plot of the episode is that the fiancé was fired after he was caught stealing on the job. And not only that, it's discovered that he's not a college student like he claimed but a full-blown con-artist. When he's been "attending classes at college", he's really been at the bus station cheating tourists. He's stolen a *lot* of money from Jessica's niece and he has free access to her bank accounts as well. Even when he's cleared of murder, it's also made clear that he's going to prison and Jessica's niece is heartbroken about being betrayed so thoroughly.

F*** the mayor from paw patrol. She’s the least competent public servant the world has ever known. Her goddamn chicken has more sense than she does. Do the citizens of Adventure Bay not realize that they have no public utilities or services and are entirely reliant on the benevolence of a child billionaire who is also the love child of Batman and doctor moreau? And where is their tax money going if not to these services? Balloon rides for the mayor?!? She’s clearly embezzling dozens of dollars.

I got a worse one... The Mayor from Pupstruction. B**** once hired the crew to build an airport for the city. While she was I the air on a plane. BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE AN AIRPORT YET. THEN THE INCOMPETENT CAT CONSTRUCTION CREW DECIDES TO JUST BUILD THEIR OWN AIRPORT TO STEAL THE GLORY AND IT WAS RIDDLED WITH MISTAKES AND CUT CORNERS RENDERING IT USELESS. THE CAT CREW ESCAPES TO REEK HAVOK FOR ANOTHER DAY AND THE MAYOR JUST LET'S IT SLIDE. F****** gold fish. Who elected her!?
