Who would win in a war of the generations?

Posted by No-Yak-8053

Hopefully this classes as ‘casual conversation’… If the different generations were to go to war against eachother, who do you think would win and why? EDIT: I should have specified - I meant more a Hunger Games type scenario where resources all begin relatively equal and then see how the different generations compare on skills/personality/knowledge etc. Baby Boomers (1946-64) Gen X (1965-85) Millenials (1981-1996) Gen Z (1997-2012) Gen Alpha (2013+)

Gen-X and it's not even close. Boomers might have some elder rage, but they couldn't catch us while hobbling around on their walkers. Millennials won't even put down their bongs and doritos and come out their parents' basements to take part. Gen-Z is too distracted by their tiktoks. Alphas won't bother unless you offer them some roblox bucks. Gen-X meanwhile, built and controls the modern incarnation of the internet. We could shut down the other generations with just a few keystrokes and not even really interrupt our lazy slacking. (Wonder if I pissed off almost everyone with that analysis?)

Gen x, literal latchkey kids even out of shape they'll know how to take care of and defend themselves, violence is always an option and a clean fight isn't.

Gen Alpha, I don't have the statistics to back it up just yet

Bro they don’t even work yet so how would they even have money for a gun?

I haven’t quite thought out the intricacies myself yet, it’s a big question. On initial thought I’m leaning toward Gen Z, with a bit of extra life experience and maturity while maintaining the youthful rage

Oh, I was just being sarcastic. Never thought someone would think 10 year olds would take over the world

Baby boomers, too old Gen X - not exactly too old, but most never got into fitness so they’re out of shape, but probably the generation with the most geniuses like musk and bezos, Millennials - best well rounded, youngish, and adapted to life without technology into life with technology. So we could deal with most issues. Also millennials are the generation to dive into fitness heavily. Hence why most gym influencers are close to their early 30s or in their 30s like Larry wheels and Chris bumstead. So millennials most likely to be top 2 and probably #1 Gen Z- still too many of them are young so they wouldn’t have the strength Alpha- same thing about being too young. Would probably get wiped out first since they wouldn’t even have money for resources

Millenials' presumption of a literal battleground is telling. Gen X recruits elder Gen Z set, waiting for permission to blow sh!t up (though they don't *technically* need it). Younger Gen Z included for training purposes *only*. Grants permission and comfortable homebase from which they conduct the whole affair in one afternoon (from laptops or smartphones; whatever). Traitorous Millenials given quarter, but required to create or reproduce comic relief memes for morale. Fancy beer + buffet and pre-made victory merch enjoyed afterward. Boomers invited because they made all the food entertained the Alphas.

I had a similar train of thought. Others have pointed out that obviously the older generations maintain lot more power. But I was trying to compare them more personality and initiative wise, if resources were all fair. Maybe hunger games style. I should have specified in the original post

Yeah the power is mainly constructed by money. But if currency is irrelevant because we are all at war an surving like the walking dead or fallout, the old would get overrun way too easy, our new leader would probably be from the millennial group and probably be late 30s early 40s

Millennials would win because they are the only ones who have any idea how technology works. War at this point is just flying drones and doing things remotely. Any gen after that has no idea how tech works and is also weak. Any gen before that needs brute strength which is easily defendable with technology.

You’re kidding right? Did you see the turnout yesterday?!

No-Yak-8053 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Which turnout where sorry? Guessing you’re talking about American protests? I’m not from the US so don’t know exactly who turned out for them

There are more millennials by population than any of the other generations. The oldest millennials are 45 and the youngest are 30. Gen Z is closest in population and has the more prime physical ages but also has folks as young as 14. Millennials take it easy.

Are you sure? In the US maybe… google says Gen Alpha is largest, then Gen Z then Millennials

I was searching for the U.S. I also didn’t realize that the data cut off was 2024. [Source](https://www.statista.com/statistics/296974/us-population-share-by-generation/?srsltid=AfmBOorYUyYQaykdX8_rv-M5IgbGoFWdd2U60tuRokC9vZyWVK6N-gg0).

I’m not from the US so no, not just the US

GenZ then. I dont want to see what China's GenZ is capable of

Probably Millennials. They are the commanding officers in military and make up the majority of police. I could be wrong about those two “facts” though.

Millennials, because they’ve experience both life before and after tech, they’re in a unique position

distanasika Mar 30, 2026 +1
Millennials are the last human beings who have known the analog / digital convergence. Particularly precious from this point of view

Gen-X. The last generation that solved our problems with violence in school. And when it comes down to it a lot of the younger folks have never even been in a fight in their entire lives.
1
ElectricalTax3573 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Probably millennials, halfway between life exp and too old to fight, but we might be edging more towards Z for the pure youthful strength

Gen X would win. We might be older, but we grew up in a time when pain was just a part of having fun. We also learned from experience than a "fair" fight is a dumb idea. You fight to win.

BorntoBomb Mar 30, 2026 +1
Rest assured Boomers will lose
