Quite frankly, WB should not be able to merge with any company, especially another media conglomerate. If anything, if it wants to sell, it should be forced to break up its assets and sell it off to multiple different and distinct buyers. Or at least thats how it should be if anti trust/monopoly laws were properly respected and enforced.

I wouldn't mind them selling to a company that isn't already a major media company. Like if Apple wanted it, I think that's fine

Taco Bell needs to step it up if it's to win the Franchise Wars in 2032.

They're biding their time. Despite what happens in my bathroom about 45 mins to an hour after eating Taco Bell, they do know how to play the long game as well

Do their bathrooms have 3 shells? Or am I misremembering?

Not a major media company. Says apple

Regulatory Capture. And the corrupt, delusional trump admin only makes it worse.

The US won't for sure. I'm hoping the EU kicks it back. There's still hope.

The fact that we even have to debate this shows how far weve fallen. Merging two of the Big Five studios is the literal definition of an anti-competitive monopoly, but the regulators will probably just watch it happen while we end up paying $30 a month for a single buggy app.

All as the merged entity slowly kills off theaters. Ellison has already yanked an *Avatar TLA* movie off the schedule to feed Paramount+. More will follow.

And why they won't: They're all corrupt shitheads who will be personally enriched by the deal. The whole state-run media empire thing is just a perk.

I'd love for the deal to be blocked, but it won't. I would just enjoy the ellisons being out billions due to the breakup fee and not even get to have Warner Bros. Not too David Zazlov not getting his bonus.

Is antitrust regulation really a thing anymore? Isn't tech bros running things lol

PlayingDoomOnAGPS Mar 25, 2026 +6
It is for companies and people who don't bribe the orange a******.

Typical_Intention996 Mar 24, 2026 +8
The should reject it. But they should reject a merger with anyone else too.
8
gamersecret2 Mar 24, 2026 +8
Letting a merger like that go through just gives people even fewer real choices.
8
SunfireGaren Mar 24, 2026 +6
Yeah, but have you considered the Ellisons are buddy buddy with the administration?

U.S. antitrust law is lax AF. Just look at Sysco for example. One of the worst offenders. Ticketmaster too.

Flat_Fox_7318 Mar 24, 2026 +2
Yeah, I just watched a video this weekend talking about how Sysco absorbed all these other food service companies and tried to merge with U.S. Foods until it got blocked. Crazy.

Call your congressperson, AG and representative and tell them to oppose the Paramount/WB merger, and explicitly tell them why. Tell them that This consolidation is bad for consumers. It raises prices, eliminates thousands of jobs, especially working and middle class jobs, lowers competition, and takes away consumer choices. Tell them to short the stock too before they reject it for an added incentive Here a list of the congresspeople, lawmakers, and reps of each state around to help [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_current\_United\_States\_representatives](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_United_States_representatives) [https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/current](https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/current) [https://www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative/](https://www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative/) Also make a meme stock out of WB

The UAE should pull all their money out of the deal since their backroom deals with Dear Leader have gone sideways following the Iran debacle.
2
KingMario05 Mar 24, 2026
Saudi and Qatar, too. Focus on your own nightmare, guys.

Honestly, I feel like either not much will change, or things will change so much, the company collapses.

This was a great read. So much of that debt is unobtainable. Makes no sense financially.

Intrepid_Hat7359 Mar 24, 2026 +1
We just need Iran to make a tweet saying that they told Trump to approve the merger, and it will be dead within 2 hours

EntertainmentQuick47 Mar 24, 2026 +1
This might be a dumb question but do anti-trust laws like…actually mean anything?

Isnt Ellison a major AIPAC donor too? Paramount ownership is truly the best of both worlds lol
0
TutorIcy324 Mar 24, 2026 +1
Why is that important?
1
M00nd0g69 Mar 24, 2026 +3
…what? Brother YOU brought up israeli influence over the studios and I rightfully pointed out that paramount ownership is incredibly pro israel. Do you have convictions?
3
TutorIcy324 Mar 24, 2026 -1
Yes I do I just don't understand what aipac has to do with this and also I never heard anyone complain about Israel in this deal. I only heard complaints about middle east. Are you guys bots?
-1
L0b0t0my Mar 24, 2026 +2
I am now 100% convinced that you're actually a bot, and not a real human user behind your account. Just insane behavior over the course of a few comments. Invalid crashout
2
M00nd0g69 Mar 24, 2026 +1
I want you to go to google dot com, type aipac into the search bar, and then tell me what the i stands for. I have heard plenty of complaints about how zionist paramount ownership is, specifically in discussion of the blacklist the studio has put together of creatives they will not employ for being too critical of Israel. Whatever your play is here you are clearly not arguing with good intentions

This merger is just gonna give us fewer, worse movies and more expensive streaming. Monopolies suck for everyone except the execs cashing the checks.

StudentGlum8838 Mar 25, 2026
This merger is a terrible idea. We already have too few studios controlling everything. Less competition means worse movies and higher prices for all of us. Regulators need to stop this.
