Treating my Mom to a vacation, just paying it off as much as I can each month, should be gone by fall unless an unexpected expense comes up. It was worth it but does stress me out.

You’ll get there! I heard that making one extra payment a year toward principle payment helps cut down by a lot. Maybe even refinancing. We went through a hardship, couldn’t pay mortgage one month and they renegotiated our mortgage after that. Saved us really. Also oh nooo, is it an HOA? We did a catio maybe thats an option for y’all?

s-e-x_h-i-p-sMar 28, 2026

Yeah I generally add a bit extra every few months to it to help squash it quickly. Most councils in Australia have cats banned from being outdoors. I could build one but just don't have a great area to have them come in and out at their free will

Oh gosh we’re in the US so it’s a bit more lax here. I can imagine it would be dangerous with other wild animals there right? If anything cat stroller rides maybe? Our Siberians loveee it

The younger one knows no different and would struggle with outside. The older one is also really skittish so isn't keen either. I'd love to take them for a walk if they would let me.

Have you tried churu? It’s a cat paste treat we use for our cats when training. Maybe that’ll help? Ours go crazy for it and now love stroller rides. Hoping the best for your kitties, they are truly angels on earth!

14 year old dog needed surgery and ICU to cure a condition that would be very problematic eventually if left alone. Put all that I had towards the bill, and charged the rest to a no-interest credit card. 11 more payments left, but very little left for new emergencies at this point.

Credit Card Debt. Used it for well over a decade only paying the minimum but because over time you have expenses that pop up, you put it on the card thinking I would one day be able to pay it off by one day actually getting paid good money. Well the decent pay finally came but sadly the debt got so high that im paying the debt down instead of enjoying the fruits of my labor and I dont get to do the fun stuff unless I can make it really c****. Pray to god nothing happens to the car for the next few years to complicate the matter.

Now to be fair and man I really hurt myself with this move cause I was looking for short term gratification, a little bit after Covid and after I was depressed I had a little savings I forgot I had and instead of keeping that money or paying down my debt, I said "F*** it, covid taught me you only live once so go take those fancy vacations you always wanted." It was great till I ran that down to my last 2 grand which means im in the rut a lot longer then I want. Im doing a bit better now but yeah.....I had to learn the hard way. Dont be like me.

I mean, I’m not gonna lie, counting on the l****** is more like hoping for something to happen. I know the feeling of being stuck in the same old place, though. It gets tiring. Even small things like trying to figure out where your money is going each month can start to shift things. You deserve something more solid than just hoping.

I have a mortgage, auto loan and currently some credit card debt. All three have an interest rate that is lower than the interest I earn on my savings, so I'm just paying the minimum balances unless that changes.
I work an obnoxious amount of overtime, which makes me decent money and doesn't give me the time to spend it all.

Rent deposit. Chose paying a higher rent desposit over low deposit & higher montly rent, as paying interest is a better option to paying rent.

I was married to a person who refused to stop spending on credit cards - to the limits. At one point it was about 50k on just one card of four.
I freaked out and figured out how to transfer the debts to 0% introductory cards. There were some fees involved but it was nothing compared to the interest rates on the original cards. One that sticks out in my mind was 24%. WTF
I was not about to take out a loan to cover that nonsense, and I wasn't interested in filing bankruptcy.
It took a couple of years of flipping those offers with no missed payments to level that out, but for the most part it worked to reduce that massive (and massively stupid) debt. The key to success in that was to make sure that I transferred the balance to the next 0% card before the introductory rate ended.
It was a little bit of effort because one 0% offer would only take 10k and another would take a different amount. The result was many cards with different balances and due dates that I had to stay on top of to avoid the interest blast.
The one-time transfer fee was always less than what the interest would have been against the total balance.
I don't know if that type of credit card offer still exists, but that is the method I used.

As for getting out of it, I honestly just didn’t pay it.
