Why do you hold onto traditions with such conviction that you would get insulted if someone suggests we stop doing that tradition?

need examples? christmas gifts when youre broke af, standing for the pledge in school, or my personal favorite - family dinner every sunday even when half the family cant stand each other lol some people act like suggesting we skip one sunday dinner is basically treason. tradition becomes this weird guilt trip where you're the a****** for questioning why we keep doing something that clearly isnt working anymore

Some traditions are tied to memories with people you love so it feels personal when someone wants to change them

If it are family traditions I would feel sad if others would say to stop with it. Some traditions have been in the family for hundreds of years. But there are also traditions of small ceremonies to remember someone who passed away.
